I like Matthews as a talent. But for the whole team to be effective it helps a lot if the players are all marching to the beat of the coaching staff.
I think we carry 6 WR's this year, and even if we only carry 5 at least one gets hurt during the season. Wallace, Hartline and Gibson are locks, and I'll be shocked if a 2nd round pick doesn't make it. So there is a slot or two opened for Matthews and it's hi for the taking. If he can't beat out Binns, Thigpen and that tall dude, he isn't good enough.
No team will trade for him, and if we cut him I doubt any team outside the AFC East would even pick him up. There is just too much young cheap talent in this draft to mess around with a project who lacks discipline.
I'm sure New England would pick him up just to get insight on the Lazor offense, but that's his best chance if he fails to win the spot here.
