practice tweets day 10

I think the bottom line is that if the pass protection is even halfway credible, Tannehill has to produce. Hoops is dead on about that.

You can look at things last year and say there were valid reasons for the offense to break down that weren't squarely on the QB. And I still think our running game is going to be straight trash, and we still need a seam threat, but ultimately I think there is going to be enough opportunity for production if they can produce anything resembling credible pass blocking that I am not going to make excuses for the QB.

agreed...if the scheme is solid and the playcalling in situations makes sense and the protection is solid bottom line is i expect the qb shred people...period...and if those things all happen i fully expect him to do just that

it's year 3 i've waited 2 years...time to take it to another level...although he still won't be a finished product this year

If they want to go up tempo and no huddle, Tannehill was excellent at that last year. I couldn't figure out why they didn't do it more. It seemed like every time they were in the end of half/game situation he was very good at making plays. As long as the O-line is starting to gel, I'm not worried. As far as the D is concerned, if the LB's improve and if the offense can sustain drives and score points, they will be a top 5 D. This D is built to play from ahead with the D-line and secondary.
When you say play from ahead, as in ahead on the scoreboard? That was what they always said about Peyton Manning teams, that they were designed to always be ahead, they can score so quickly. I'm curious why you see the Dolphins designed like that. Do you expect our Offense to be so potent?

Yes he means play with a lead. I even foresaw this in the offseason so it must be that obvious lol. We have an elite pass rush. The secondary is pretty dang good. We will do well against the pass but if you allow the opposing team to play even or with a lead our defense will get run on all day with success

Some highlights so far

Moore and tannehill each 2 ints. Finnegan and grimes have caught 2 a peice.

OL doing well in 1 in 1 drills showing improvement

Miller breaking tackles running with authority

Tannehill has 30 yard run on zone read

Calib Sturgis back at practice, Wallace practicing in 11 on 11 drills. Hartline not

Good news, maybe Finnegan has something left in the tank after all....the secondary needs it....

As Jeff Darlington and Steve Wyche said on Twitter, the Dolphins defense might end up being one of the best units in the league this season.

NOPE, not unless we get some improved LB play. Our DL and secondary can be very good, but out LBs are going to need a miracle to move into the top 15 in the league.

i'm pretty sure he came down my way yesterday and lit up the skins like step children

My good friend plays for the Redskins, text i got fom him right after he finished practice " Brady is surgical" haha

If misi is just average in the middle I think we will be ok. All reports indicate jenkins is much improved. He Should start over wheeler. Tripp might even push for playing time and his measurables are off the charts

One Super Bowl win by a HOF QB is not a blueprint for offensive superbowl success in my book. Defense wins with solid QB play.

I agree with Junc. You have to think these QB's are willing to take more chances in practice than they are in games. Picks in practice don't concern me.

I agree. Furthermore, when you don't see it or know what the call was, you don't really know who's fault the INT was. Sometimes the receiver makes the wrong move.

I really Don't know if i can watch Wheeler play anymore it makes me unimaginably angry watching him try to tackle/ cover routes

Meh if they are practicing certain routes only like yesterday I expect there to be picks. I mean the defense has been seeing our offense for training camp, mini camp etc I would hope the notice certain plays and jump them.

Media is saying they have been bad passes, not defense knowing the routes...

I don't know, the QB when asked about it said that they were trying certain routes against certain coverages to see if they could complete them, and that they'd be moving on from them.

Question is, do you believe the QB who threw the picks... or Armando and Omar?

Hearing about INT's I was worried at first, now I'm just relieved at the thought of us bringing in INT's for a second year in a row (not a given since Patterson was our guy last year and he's gone). The offense obviously is going to have some growing pains learning new concepts and things so it's not a huge deal.

Not necessarily. They all have a different take on the same play. Perkins says good play by finnegan on good pass from tannehill. Walker says bad pass on the same play. Preseason is when we can evaluate ourselves
