Ole Raffy hit a double in the 5th inning of tonight;s game vs. the Mariners to make it into one of the most elite groups in baseball: 3000 hits, 500 homruns.

He is in the company of Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Eddie Murray. wow!

The only thing I dont get is how there are still people who believe he shouldnt be a first ballot hall-of-famer (*cough* Skip Bayless *cough*). If he plays next year he could be in the 3000/600 group with only Aaron and Mays.

He's one of the game's most solid and consistent players, a model of a true baseball player

I was soooooooooooo gonna write an article back to Skip Bayless about his piece of trash, but I figured it would get lost in his own ego. That guy is a pot-stirrer if I ever saw one.

And congrats to Raffy, one of the most consistent players and the best free agent signing ever.

We're talking about a guy who could end up with 3,200 hits and 620 homers, and that's not first-ballot HOF material?

Bayless is dumber than cheese. I stopped reading his trash months ago and I'd rather have bamboo shoots shoved under my fingernails than watch him argue with Woody Paige on Cold Pizza (whose motto is, "we're not getting cancelled because ESPN2 can't find quality programming at 7 am"). Sadly, he's part of an ever-growing trend in the sports media: seek out a widely-held (and usually reasonable) opinion, and bash it just to get attention. I blame Jim Rome for this trend, by the way.

Palmeiro is a Hall of Famer. Period. 3000 hits is enough to get you in, and 500 home runs is enough to get you in. 3000/500? When only three other guys have done it, that's an automatic, first ballot Hall of Famer.

And he didn't even thank Viagra. :shakeno:

See, if the biggest knock against the guy is that he is a Viagra ad-man, that tells you how good he really is.

Isn't Skip Bayless the one that said Curt Schilling's bloody sock was fake? LOL.

I don't know if the biggest knock against him is Viagra. Canseco did say he dabbled with juice (which I believe). Either way he's a first ballot hall of famer. I don't think anyone has compiled number more quietly and been less celebrated then Palmeiro. How he carries himself and how he goes out every game and did his job only cements how much he deserves to go!

Good Post... Summed up most of what I wanted to say. The only reason Skip still has a job is because everyone hates him and watches to see what stupid crap he has to say.. I stopped long ago, worthless sports TV..

What's next, Lou Gehrig wasn't really sick??

I'm not the biggest fan of his. But I gotta admit, I love when Screamin' A. Smith pwnz him on TV (though the whole format turns me off to begin with).

True. I don't even consider it a knock. I just thought it was funny that he said he never used it. Sure, he's probably telling the truth. But how did that deal come about?? How did Viagra and Paleiro become a couple??

I can't wait for the "Viagra congratulates Rafael Palmeiro" ads to show up on TV.

Palmeiro may not be the most exciting player but definitely first ballot. Much like Paul Molitor.

Palmeiro is the Vinny T of the NFL... Always serviceable but never great. Numbers have changed alot since the old 500 or 3000 and your in...
