Ray Farmer, Browns new GM

He has more security in Cleveland to be fair.

Haslem's track record would say no. He fired his coach after a year, fired his GM after a year and fired another front office person after a year. Some people fault Ross for being too patient...this guy is the total opposite. If they have another losing season, which they will, it will not surprise me if the owner hits the reset button again.

I wouldn't be so sure of that, their owner could fire him at any minute.

Ian Rapoport just said that new head coach Mike Pettine could be on shaky ground because Farmer wasn't included in the interviewing process. The Browns let Lombardi hire the new coach and then fired him, and the rumor that is circulating is that it was because he couldn't find a good coach and had to settle for Pettine. Talk about a vote of confidence for Pettine from ownership. A couple of weeks on the job and there is talk you could get fired.

As I said in the other thread, I am patiently waiting for the "Browns in disarray" article from LaCanfora.

Ya. You could be right. What is funny is I think Pettine could be a nice coach. I happy he is not calling blitzes vs. RT anymore.

Well that explains some about the pullout however I still question his intelligence when he decided to pick the chaos that is Cleveland. Talk about unstable.

Seems pretty ironic farmer turned us down because he had questions about power structure.

Now he's stuck with a owner who does things like this...
“@WillBurge: #Browns source told said org had a meeting in morn. Haslam walked in, announced Banner & Lombardi were gone & walked back out. Dead silence”

Enjoy your new and improved power structure farmer.

Ross looks like the late great Jerry Buss compared to Haslam.

Well at least we can count on Cleveland to make us feel better!

It's amazing how Haslam and Ross are polar opposites, but equally as dysfunctional.

One is patient to a fault, the other is impatient to a fault. Balance is key!

John Wooten, the FPA guy and presumably the one whispering in Farmer's ear, spent essentially his entire career in Cleveland.

I think it is safe to presume he was angling Farmer to stay in Cleveland from the get go.

I hate the hickey hire.... but was never much fussed about missing out on farmer

The fact that both the hc and gm report to the owner and the media doesnt care deeply amuses me

hope Ross is viewing what's going on in Cleveland today... he'll prob be doing the same sorta confab himself, next year
