Ray Feinga and Kevin Hobbs signed/Vernon Carey hurting/Will Allen sent to see doctor

Hopefully these are nothing more than camp dings, but it's starting to get annoying. Can't overemphasize the importance of luck in having a successful season...

I absolutely agree. In 2008, when we won the division, it was one of our team's biggest strengths, that we did not have very many injuries. That & we had the most efficient offense in the league, as far as turnovers are concerned.

The in season injury reports have been relatively blank, but that has a lot to do with how the Dolphins choose to report them. The Patriots make a guy probable if he has a hangnail. The Dolphins don't put a guy on there unless there's actually a chance he could miss the game.

For two years the "Tour de Davie" has been active with players riding the exercise bikes and missing practices. That first training camp was no different, with Joey Porter fighting some mysterious knee problem that kept him out of a ton of practices until it mysteriously evaporated during the season en route to like 17.5 sacks or whatever he got.

I agree the "Tour de Davie" has been common, but the "Tour de Dr. James Andrews" hasn't been common under this regime...and that is what we are seeing a bunch of this TC. Haven't we lost 4 guys for the season? Now some aren't starters and some wouldn't make the team, but this does seem to be more than the last couple of years.

The replacement for W. Allen is Carroll. The guys that would be signed basically replace Carroll as #4 or #5 CB. Where are we going to get someone to actually replace W. Allen if he's injured? We're lucky Carroll has impressed and that's why we can sign bubble guys. Because they're replacing a promoted bubble guy who might be better than we thought he'd be.

The point is, they're not replacing Will Allen at all, because they haven't lost him. They've lost Evan Oglesby, and they replaced him with Kevin Hobbs. And that should really be that, as they say.

they're not replacing will allen YET...i just hope we don't get a bad report from that specialist...i don't like depending on a rookie corner who didn't tackle on tape in college according to those that have taken a look at him being a sure tackler in the pros in the slot...

that seems like a bad mix

Merling got lost before camp even began. After that as I recall there's 4th round pick A.J. Edds, and now #6 or #7 CB Evan Oglesby. Am I missing anyone here?

There's been no word on how long Garner will be out. A bunch of minor dings to depth players like Garner, Dobbins, Spitler, etc...I don't think that's even worth noting. Bigger deal when Vernon Carey goes out, but he's a veteran and veterans sit out camp practices all the time with a hangnail, something like that. Teams are generally pretty smart at not overworking them.

If they lost Will Allen for the year that would be a terrible blow. But thus far he's just having some soreness in his repaired knee and having it checked out by the guy that did the surgery, which doesn't necessarily mean there's anything bad going on there.

DAVIE, Fla. -- Cornerback Kevin Hobbs has signed with the Miami Dolphins to replace reserve cornerback Evan Oglesby, who was placed on injured reserve with a left ankle injury.

The Dolphins are a little thin at cornerback right now behind starters Vontae Davis and Sean Smith, with just seven healthy players. In addition to Allen, the Dolphins have also lost Evan Oglesby to an ankle injury, and placed him on Injured Reserve on Thursday. To fill his roster spot, the Dolphins signed journeyman cornerback Kevin Hobbs, who has played in 34 career games with Seattle and Detroit.

The Dolphins signed free agent cornerback Kevin Hobbs but that is thought to only address the need created by the injury earlier this week to Evan Oglesby, who sustained an ankle injury. Oglesby was placed on injured reserve today.

Hmmm....

yep...cause i admittedly never got to watch him...wasn't even on my radar til we heard of miami interest

You're not alone. I'm not sure I have met anyone else on these boards that got a chance to watch some of Nolan's college games and make an evaluation of him. He missed practically his whole senior season.

CK I respect the line of thinking that until there's no evidence, there's nothing wrong. But c'mon, a little intuition here doesn't hurt (and yes, I realize intuition may equal doom and gloom or pessimism for some). We know how Allen deals with injury. The fact he's been slowed up by his sore knee and has shown visible signs of discomfort is very telling to me. Whether there's a new injury, a complication of recovery, or simply normal post-ACL repair soreness, the fact we've heard about Allen being visibly affected by it does not portend good things.

EDIT: And boy do I hope you get to do an "I was right" parrot dance.

You're mistaking my position. I didn't say that I know there's nothing wrong with Will Allen. People insisted that bringing in Frank Walker/Kevin Hobbs meant bad things for Will Allen. Simply put, it did not. It meant bad things for Evan Oglesby.

We don't know if there's something wrong with Will Allen. But sitting out a practice or two is not a smoking gun nor is a Frank Walker/Kevin Hobbs signing.
