Stephen Ross handed Ireland 2 contract extensions. If that isnt "having his back" then what is? He sure didnt extend him because we were winning, thats for sure.
Please provide the link that shows Ireland wanted McCoy to run the offense Ireland wanted. Ireland wanted McCoy because he liked his personality. Because Ireland's opinion carried so much weight with Ross(while Ross simultaneously was plotting to stab him in the back or something?), it was a toss up between Philbin and McCoy. The rumored deciding factor was Philbin was willing to keep Todd Bowles as DC while McCoy wanted to hire his own staff, so Ross went with the guy willing to play ball. Then Bowles left. Because Miami Dolphins.
And now Philbin was GM? Why do you want to keep Ireland when he did nothing at his job? If he wasnt a "real" GM, then why should he hold the title? :sidelol: Fact: Ireland was general manager and signed off on every single move we made. Fact: we didnt win those extra games, we went 7-9 and 8-8. "Woulda coulda shoulda" goes on for every team, all that matters is the results.
Its extremely easy to judge Ireland, check his record and check where his players are. Most are either buried in depth charts to fill out the bottom of rosters or out of the league entirely. If no coach in the entire league can improve the players Jeff Ireland has made investments in, then its on Ireland. End of story.
And i already agreed: we do have problems. Stephen Ross is the main reason why we have problems. He makes poor decisions, like extending Ireland twice and trying to keep him in a demoted role. Also our roster is filled with holes because Ireland was terrible at his job, thats another major problem that scared away potential hires.
And most certainly i'll keep on stumbling around. I have to, because when i do i see you randomly making up points off the top of your head in defense of a unemployed GM that you think sounds good but really isnt. I find people shooting themselves in the foot highly amusing. Keep holding onto something that happened before Clinton was reelected and before Monica Lewinsky became a household name, in the meantime i'll watch first and second year regimes instantly turn their franchises around.
