Report: Dolphins players may have harassed team staffer

Firing someone outright without a warning is pretty rare. I'd be willing to bet that your former boss was warned, possibly more than once, to shut his yapper. Or there were other reasons for a quick dismissal.

Guys with clean records and good performance evaluations who say some bad words don't get straight up axed, unless they say those words to a superior who has a major beef with them.

Yeah he'd been warned in the past which made it even worse since he knew it was against the code of conduct. But there'd never been a single comment by this girl in the 5 years she worked there. Turns out she had been saving that stuff up just in case and that's all it took.

But anyone who's got an HR department knows you can't make jokes in today's world as someone are going to take offense to them, even if they seemingly play along.

Nope. I am actually very familiar with the rules of the workplace. Offensive jokes become an issue when the joke or comment offends someone. If NOBODY is saying that the joking is offensive, then what is the issue?

It's about how someone perceives the joke. If the joke is perceived to be offensive than it is an issue. If it is of an ethnic or sexual nature it violates workplace standards. Just because a person didn't say anything at the time does not mean anything at this point. This teams management is in very hot water if they were aware of this behaviour

It's interesting because I think this allegation combines with the golf event allegation as well as the Jonathan Martin allegation to give us a view of who is willing to analyze the situation objectively and who is not.

These situations are all very different. There is something common with all three (allegations of Incognito being a dick) but the circumstances and implications of all three scenarios are different and should be treated differently. But with some people, I'm not seeing differentiation. The river either flows one way for all three, or it flows the other way for all three. A lot of voting along party lines.

Indeed. And if this incident is true, it totally explains why the Dolphins suspended Richie with cause, and will likely win on that. Because my guess is that Richie got a real firm warning about this sort of thing.

Richie is a ****ing assclown. He and Jon Martin deserve each other.

Anything being leaked will be merely a fraction. Again, why do you think Martin was so content to appear in public one day after his testimony? Somehow that angle was ignored while all the frothing geniuses here were happily mocking him for the 900th time. Martin was obviously pleased at the way his version was received, and satisfied that a thorough investigation would follow. If so, it would verify his claims.

BTW, I got a kick out of the post in this thread whining about creating a society in which no responsibility is placed on the person being bullied to stop the harassment. Once again you guys produce parody caliber material without any recognition at all. I honestly don't know how most of these comments make it beyond the self filter.

The responsibility is to report it up the chain of command. Unfortunately we still have countless venues in which that chain will look the other way, run by pathetic types like the ones we've heard from so frequently in this matter.

If he hadn't been warned multiple times in the past based on what we know about his past then we've got much bigger issues than Richie. I have faith in Philbin and his staff though that he was indeed formally warned.

It really isn't even in places that employees work under a cba. Things at my airline that will get you fired on the spot; work place violence, harassment, sabotaging a airplane, cheating, lying, stealing, negligence. Flat out day one orientation the company and the union tell you don't lie, cheat or steal if you do you are gone.

How anyone can defend Incognito anymore is amazing. The guy is a complete idiot who loves to degrade other people. We need to move on from him.

BTW, voting along party lines is the only way to go. That will lead you to your desired bottom line much more dependably than a scattergun subjective approach. I always get a kick out of the posts leading up to an election, "I vote for the individual, not the party...blah...blah...blah." That type thinks they sound tough and individualistic but it spits out as clueless. The person at the top is only a fraction. They are pressured to appoint people down the line who represent their party, and increasingly to the extreme of that party. Same with judicial appointments and so forth. Those appointments can extend decades beyond the person who was on the ballot this time. The same principal holds true to lesser degree all the way down the ladder, to smaller races. I won't even vote for a non partisan race without researching which side of the aisle the candidates are on.

In this case it wasn't strenuous handicapping to align with Jonathan Martin and be confident that his side would prove truthful and beneficial once the dust cleared. If the NFL gets rid of hazing and monetary intimidation as a result of this, it was a scandal well spent.

Particularly if it has no impact on 6.5 wins.

Nobody knows the context. To speculate otherwise is dumb

Nobody knows the context of this...we are also believing a Jason Cole story. I am not ready to do that.

It's funny that after getting a small taste of winning again, bringing some slight hope back to the season, I'm not interested in this "other" stuff anymore.. That's just my thoughts tho :)

Not rare when the person is a member of management....companies spend a ton of dough to educate it's management team on how to handle this type of situation and they have no patience when it occurs...if its non management chance are they survive a first and sometimes a 2nd offense
