I don't doubt Joe did really havt to fire Sherman but in the end finally realized what needed to ne done. I also have an issue with the article because his source is Armondo. Who in the entire debacle has been Ireland's mouthpiece and proven to be wrong many times in the past week on what he has written.
Not gonna lie I went and looked and on a quick search I didn't find anything besides the Cribbs issue. An issue which as shown she was correct and not Holmgren in the contract that should have been offered.
$20 million over three years for a wr that had 60+ catches and only 4td's in six years, not smart. Especially when you look at his #'s after the contract. 3 return td's with another 60 catches/4 td's over 2 years before being released before the third and final year of the contract is a pathic ROI.
Shocking you would have disagreed with me on this hell I bet you were one of the ones disagreeing in 2010 when I criticized hiring her. What most of you guys don't get was during this time Cribbs was not only the Browns bright spot he was a local hero from Kent State etc.... Also at that time Cribbs had double the career kick return yard Hester did whose contract set the bar, Cribbs flipped the field countless times for the Browns and some games was the Browns only real scoring threat. Remember him breaking our back? Now as far as that ridiculous $20 mil number you threw oucdefending Aponte you couldn't be more wrong! Cribbs signed a 3 yr extension worth $15,496,000 with $400,000 carry over from previous contract.
Now let's break it down shall we? In 2010 his base salary was $688,000, prorated signing bonus $1,500,00, workout bonus $100,000, bonuses likely to be earned of $250,000 and $2,100,000 bonuses unlikely to be earned. In 2011 his base was $832,00, prorated signing bonus of $1,100,000, workout bonus of $100,000, likely bonuses earned of $250,000 and $2,100,000 unlikely to be earned with escalators of $2,350,000. In 2012base salary $925,000, prorated signing bonus $1,100,000,workout bonus $100,000, and $2,350,000 in escalators.
Now Cribbs actually earned $2,538,500 in 2010, $2,407,000 in 2011, and $2,688,000 in 2012. That is a little bit different from the ridiculous number you threw out claiming Holmgrem signed him to a poison deal and claiming Aponte was right! Matter of fact Holmgrem negotiated a very good contract given Cribbs had just been named all pro he was light years ahead of other kick returners in yards, and was being used as a kick returner, punt returner, wr, qb and rb while running the wildcat. So the reality is Cribbs made 7 mil and change for his extension he suffered a knee injury his first year that I believe required surgery, and it was rumored was not used in the final year to keep from paying out escalators.
All contract figures were taken from sporttrac.
Adding to it comparing Cribbs to Hester which were the AFC/NFC All Pro players and multi use after the 2009 season through 2012.
Hester had 1606 punt return yards, 7 punt return TDs, 2297 kick return yards, 4 kick return TDs, 1721 receiving yards, 8 receiving TDs, 32 rushing yards and 0 TDs.
Cribbs had 1126 punt return yards, 2 punt return TDs, 5955 kick return yards, 7 kick return TDs, 620 rushing yards, 2 rush TDs, 281 receiving yards, 2 receiving TDs.
Hester was playing on a playoff contender and a Super Bowl team in that time frame while Cribbs was playing for the leagues trash. Also Hester made significantly more then Cribbs over those 3 years.
