Ricky versus Duece

Ricky would have had the Saints in 2nd and long and 3rd and long because he wouldn't have made all those moves Deuce did to get those extra yards.

You still have to remember that Deuce's strength is on the outside. They did not use him on the outside much this game because Tampa's defense is built for speed and he would not have gotten anywhere, so they used him between the tackles.

Sure sounds like the Saints needed Ricky between the tackles yesterday. But oh! I forgot Duce is better suited for this offense??? :p

OMG......How silly is this....forget the numbers....i don't care that ricky had 111 instead of 110.....etc. The point is, I'll take a 100yrd game vs. TB before Det anyday. Detroit has one of the worst D's in the NFL.

Yeah but if Ricky had carried 31 times like Duece he would have had 165 yards rushing(and that's not taking into consideration that RW's YPA goes up as the game goes on)......

Greg and other Saint friends:

All I was trying to do was take this ongoing conversation we have had for a few weeks and try and put some real numbers into it.

The undisputed fact is that Ricky had a better game and in my humble opinion, the Saints did miss the power that Ricky would have given them between the tackles against a quick but smallish Tampa D. But, I agree that the Bucs have a better D than Detroit.

We'll see. Both teams have had one game.

When was that game?? AAt the end of the year when your coach stopped giving Ricky the ball because he was about to reach incentives to his contract to get more money which you guys screwed him out of.

That's the first time i heard that one.....Where did you get that one?

He missed out on his incentives with all the games he missed due to injury....the big escalator clause was that he have better stats in his first 4yrs than Terrell Davis did in his first 4 yrs. He wasn't going to get enough yards last year.

Nobody screwed ricky out of anything....he wanted all of his money in a signing bonus so he could invest it.......then he wanted an incentive based contract.....he wanted to "earn his money".....he signed the contract.....nobody forced him into it.

Yes Ricky had a better game....against a very poor D. I don't think we missed Ricky's power....Deuce is a surprisingly good power runner.

Tampa's D is "smallish"? Warren Sapp and Anthony McFarland are "smallish"? That's 2 300lb guys up the middle. And Deuce ran up the middle for 100 yrds on them. I'll take that. Detroit gives up 100+ yards to everybody.

Against Tampa or Detroit?

Funny thing is that Deuce was quoted for saying that he didn't think he could have handled another series carrying the ball, that he was tired and worn out. Ricky wouldn't have complained!

Ricky didn't play nearly 5 quarters of football......Deuce was never taken out of the game.....not on third down, not for a change of pace....He played 5 quarters of football

RW already had 111 yards - we wouldn't want him to get to 1500 yards now would we  ;)

If they keep him healthy.....and take him out with 111yrds every week.....i'll be a pretty happy camper

Against Detroit......I'm saying 31 carries for both players would have looked like this...

109 yards for Duece against Tampa....

165 yards for Ricky against Detroit....

Now, the question is, is Tampas' run defense 54 yards a game better than Detroits'? I'm not sure but I would guess.... NO. You 're welcome to show me if I'm wrong.

I think it's funny that you "project" what ricky would've ran for.....but regardless, I think Deuce vs. Tampa and Ricky vs. Detroit....is an unfair comparison.

We play Detroit 9/29....If Deuce doesn't Avg. 5yrds/carry in that game......I'll give it to you.

Did you Dolphins fans know that Duece actually knocked Jon Lynch out of the game for a while yesterday? Duece ran hard and he wasn't afraid to go between the tackles. You are right. The Lions/Bucs comparison isn't fair.

My problem with Ricky is, he just won't let it go. Ricky wanted out of New Orleans and he got his wish. He just continues to take shots at the Saints in the media. When the Saints got eliminated from the playoffs, I'm telling you Ricky Williams QUIT. PERIOD!! For whatever reason Ricky Williams just didn't want to be in New Orleans. Why? I don't know and I don't care.

In the words of Joe Horn,"You're in Miami now, MOVE ON". Ricky is happy, the Dolphins are happy, the Saints are happy. Both teams won yesterday. If Duece can muster 109 yds against the Bucs he'll do just fine against everyone else. Ricky Williams will get his 1,000 yds if the Dolphins OL blocks for him.

What's "funny" is that I didn't even take into account the FACT that RW gets stronger in the fourth quarter and his per carry average likely would have gone up.

But you are right....why don't we just wait to see what Duece does against the Lions.....and why didn't you think of that already? LOL.

Almost right. We MUST BE EQUAL, right?

So lets see what duece does against the Lions in the first half, and then only 4 downs into the 3rd quarter. I believe that is when they pulled Ricky. That way we can compare the apples to apples so to speak.

And on a personal note, I could care less what duece does against any other team. I'm glad the Saints fans got their running back, so did we. I figure that should be all that needs to be said about that.

Running backs are like a box of chocolates.......

I'm glad Tamp Bay lost. I'll never understand all of the fuss made over a coach (Gruden) WHO LOST HIS LAST 3 Games last season (one causing the team to lose Home Filed Advantage) and lost control of his players (there was a split locker room thing going on in Oakland).
