Rishard Matthews trade speculation.

I was gonna suggest maybe we could trade Hartline to the Browns? But what do they even have to send us in return for him?

Yes I hate players that will keep us 8-8. I love Gibson, Tanne, Wallace, Landry, Clay, D2, Moreno, Starks, OV, and Wake. Clearly the rest of the receivers are lower tier guys.

How is there guard situation?

I honestly couldn't tell you anything about their backup guards. I think their starters are gonna be Bitonio and McQuistan? They ain't trading either of those nor do I think we'd want McQuistan's contract.

I've counted 3 drops this preseason. But the eye test for many so far it looks like hartline really isn't a great fit for Lazor's scheme. I hope were all wrong because I like Brian. He's looked out of place so far with his skill set.

Short, to itermediate quick passes..... How is that not Hartline's skill set??? If anything I see this being a much better fit for him this season. Especially if our running game gets on the board.

Unless they are getting a starting Linebacker, he stays. Matthews looks like he is going to be a very good starting WR in this league. He already looks more talented than Hartline and Gibson. But Hickey is not as dumb as that other GM that was here so I trust he will do the right thing.

I've been saying for weeks that Matthews was a prime trade candidate for a WR needy team. It's not that I want him not playing for the Dolphins, but even without him we're 4 deep in guys who can start, and seeing as it's hard to spread the ball around to 5 guys just at the receiver position, a 5th receiver like Williams or Cone may bring more to this team by being able to contribute in other areas.

Why do some people assume Rishard Matthews is some kind of hot commodity other teams want to expend draft picks for? :ponder::idk:
Matthews is good and he's a lot better than anything they have. Very few teams are like Miami having a surplus of talent at this position. If they are desperate they may have to pay a lot more than he is probably worth.

Hartline is effective on the outside running hooks, outs, and the occasional deep route. His drops this preseason have reminded me of just how awful he was before Philbin got here, when his primary assignments were slant and in routes. Statistically he had the worst catch rate/highest drop rate of any starting receiver in the league in his first two years as starting, before Philbin got here. He is good on the outside where he can be physical against one man. Cutting across the middle, where he doesn't know where the contact may come from, he looks afraid to get hit and drops a lot of passes. Lazer's offense is going to require guys to move across the middle a lot, and that's not something that Hartline seems comfortable doing at all.

I think there's a lot of reason to think he may have a regression due to this offense, while a lot of our other targets should only get better.

Tbh. Even though I'm not the biggest hartline fan on here. I don't think we can judge hartline in preseason. I heard in practice he's been catching alot of deep passes. I don't think we are putting it all on tape yet. Probably becus we have ne week 1
