Ronnie Brown, a real take.....

Yep, he can't stay healthy, top RB's make it through a full season once in a while, Ronnie hasn't done that in three years, not a top RB.

every running back misses games due to injuries. That position receieves the most physical pounding out of any positions in the league.

Sure, in ronnies first 2 years, he wasnt playing the way he was capable of even though he only missed 3 games in those 2 years combined. But last year he was one of the best running backs in the league with a terrible offensive line, then unfortunately he tore his ACL.

So this year, wer goin to ease ronnie back and let ricky dominate, the in 09-2010, you'll see what im talking about.

Are you ? He only played 6 in games!
Now if your point is that he can't finish a season then do it in a more descriptive straight forward way not in a twisted way that is just making you look oustandantly geniouz.

Actually he started and played in 7 games. Also, I've made my points ad naseum, but you on the other hand, have done nothing to support your posts. Finally, you really should learn to spell, and understand the meaning of, the words that you choose to use in your posts.

OK, so in Ronnie's fifth year we'll get to see him perform like a top back?

Well i dont think he's top 5.....

I think there are the top tier NFL RB's

and then there's Ronnie Brown on the second level right around top 10.....

and again i disagree that his vision is poor when we've seen how this guy performs at times with such limited talent around him.

A knock i have on Ronnie is that he is very inconsistent. I mean if he was indeed a top 5 RB, he'd be rushing for 100 yards and a TD every week. Ronnie does not find the endzone very much, and his yardage totals are very spaced out as most of the time he'll rush for under 100 yards even under 70-80 yards before rolling out like a 150 yard game.

I totally agree with you on the point I bolded....again Ronnie is a very good player. The thing is, like I was saying, there are a TON of backs in this league that fall into this area. Which is why it makes good business sense to me to trade him IF and only IF you get solid value out of him. Because these level of backs are so available in this league and in late rounds of the draft, its easily replaceable.

If a team wanted to fork over a high pick and take that salary off our hands its a no brainer. Because you could use that pick on a position that isnt so plentiful and get a stud there at a cheaper price too!!!!

There are about 20 backs in this league outside the elite level that you could argue back and forth who's better. Ronnie falls in that class. Teams arent struggling to find ball carriers in this league. Most teams have 2 backs who could be used as featured backs if necessary. We do right now with Ricky and Ronnie, but would it kill us to lose Ronnie this year? I dont think so. We could just feed Ricky more, who I feel is on that elite level with his vision and acceleration and get some looks at Parmele.

I think youre the one sipping kool aid and its the WRONG kind. Youre sipping that Camaban flavor.

Dude, Ricky's running skills are so far superiors to Ronnie's that he makes him look like Sammie Smith. Dont get me wrong....Ronnie is a VERY GOOD player. But, Ricky when his head is on straight is one of the true elite players in this league.

- Uh.....
- "WAS", we don't know that he "IS".

Bottom line is that with Ricky this year we are good at RB. No problem dealing Ronnie because like BP says you can find gems at RB late in the draft. Happens every year, several teams find backs that make solid contributions to their team as rookies late in the draft. Alot of times teams find pure studs at the position in late rounds too.

- As good as we are with both of them? Because that's what i'm in favor of.....
- And a lot of times they don't, so? That doesn't mean it's worth throwing away the second overall pick not because he can't play but because we have a reliable :rolleyes2: RB in Ricky Williams.

This news of shopping Ronnie dosent surprise me seeing as BP took TWO backs late in the draft. It tells me he is trying to find that gem now so that when Henne is ready to lead us to the title we will be set up there.

- It doesn't surprise me either, Parcells came in here planning to wipe the slate clean and while i don't have a problem with dumping guys who wont impact the future of this team JASON TAYLOR, ZACH THOMAS I DO have a problem with dumping guys like Ronnie Brown who arguably if the best player on this team now......

If we can get good value for Ronnie we can turn that pick into a stud LB, and still find a solid back with a lesser pick. Its just good business. Plus, with Ricky here we are golden for now.

- Which will be a 3rd round pick, since he's coming off an ACL injury, will be AWFUL value. But even if they did get a player for Brown say a Boldin, i just don't think it would be a good trade.

Also, we can get a good look at Parmele and we might not even need to draft more RBs if he is the goods.

- But we can only give him 4 games, is that ok with you WV? 4 games is enough to evaluate a player.

Nah, the way Ricky has shown he is running like the Ricky of old, and seems to like and respect BP, we are fine for now at RB. Deal Ronnie for some good value and lets go.

- Well after two pre-season games i'm convinced THE NOT-SO-DREADLOCKED DEMON HAS RETURNED!

If Ronnie were one of the truly elite backs in this league it would be different, but Im sure we can find someone as good or at least comperable to him with a late pick. Heck, look at Bradshaw with the Gmen.....7th rounder. The NFL is LOADED with quality talent at RB. QB on the other hand, teams are lucky to have just one good one. So it was great we got Pennington and found Henne. But at RB, there are few elite guys, but plenty of capable backs. Ronnie is in that class. We can replace him. And this season, we really dont even need him.

- Ronnie is not in the class with Ahmad Bradshaw.....Ronnie to me is just outside the class of "best NFL RB's" because of that hanging question mark on his head "can he stay healthy".

Again Ronnie is a very good player. But, so are about 25 other backs in this league that arent on the level of certain elite backs.

- There are maybe 9-10 backs better than Brown, and that's right now.

....sigh

Bottom 5 in the NFL. Forget the fact that when he got injured he was #1 in the NFL. And was still #1 for 2 weeks after he was out. Yeah he sucked. Forget the fact that our QB's last year were throwing like crap and couldn't hit a WR. Forget the fact that his injury was not due to his vision, it was due to Lemon throwing a horrible interception and Ronnie going for a tackle and taking a bad cut. If took that much effort to make a tackle we might have been more than 1-15.

I find it funny how people are so willing to put the entire season on the shoulders of Ricky Williams when he has proven in the past that he's not exactly the most reliable guy. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's a part of the team but it would be silly trade away other options just because he looks determined now.

sippin koolaid? i will jump in your koolaid and swim around in it!!TAKE ALL YOUR NEGATIVE REMARKS SOMEWHERE ELSE!!why dont you find another team dude.ricky and ronnie are both great backs and true fans love them both.and please dont tell me about all your little dolphin collectibles and foo foo's you have. Its in your heart bro,and you just dont get it

Seriously.

Ricky lasted an amazing six plays last year. If Ronnie is league average based on his uncertanties, than what can you call Ricky?

(By the way... Ricky has only played 1 game over the last two years. Ronnie has played in twenty.)So I am gonna ask you people right here. Who is more reliable?

Yes, cause then he'll be fully healed from his ACL injury.

I wanna ask you something. Do you think ronnie brown doesnt have the talent to be a top 5 running back, or do you think his injuries are stopping him from being a top 5 back? If you think his injuries are keeping him from being a top 5 back then i agree, but if you think he doesnt have the talent then you're dead wrong.

Are we getting rid of Ronnie Brown? I don't think so, and one unsubstantiated rumor does not mean he's on his way.

Fact is he's coming off an ACL and can't be an every down back at the start of the season. We are lucky that we have another back in RW who despite 'issues' in the past is looking good and is talented. We will be a committee next season with RW starting but Ronnie seeing significant time, and as a result we are VERY strong at the position.

Personally I fail to see the problem.

RB certainly has talent.....However what the counter question would be..."What on gods green earth would make you think he'll make it through a season healthy?"

When Ronnie makes it through a season without missing.....Ok.. THREE games...I'll allow for dings...Whne RB makes it that long I'll entertain such things as "Top 5"...Untill then you're all homers to me.

I just hope none of this trade Ronnie stuff is true.....I suppose history can prove he is injury prone, but he's still young and I guess I think that he will get over it and be a great back in this league for many years. I would hate to see him go

Ronnie brown has shown he can make it through a season while only missing 3 games or less. In his first year, he missed ONE game, in year 2 he missed 3. Yea last year he missed half the season due to an ACL injury, but **** happens.

Last year, he showed the talent of a top 5 running back with an offensive line that was terrible. Imagine what he could do with this offensive line.

This year, ronnie wont be rushed, so i dont expect more than 800 yards from him this year. But in 2009-2010, if hes still here, i wont be suprised to see him rush for more than 1500+ yards.

And how are we homers for giving our players respect? Posters on this site use that word to much. ronnie has shown he is a top 5 RB in this league, and i dont know why you refuse to admit that.

And in those years were his stats top 5?

Look...I like RB and I'd like him to do well, but, there's always an excuse for him built in... (Just like Ricky Williams people). I'm sure if he doesn't produce this year and pulls up lame it will be the fault of the o-line...

Just like last year when people were blameing the QB for throwing the INT that Roinnie got hurt covering... :)

At some point kid has to stay healthy and produce.
