Ronnie Brown, a real take.....

Ronnie would be an elite back if he can stay healthy. Last year he proved that he is a very good back and I love the way he runs. I see us using him this year like the cowboys used M. Barber last year.

Ronnie is a good back but I think the question is whether or not he is a Parcells type player? I know Ricky is a risk but Ronnie is not healthy. Running Backs career span is short, 5-6 years I believe. Yes some do play more but how many RB's have a career longer than 5 years that have torn an ACL? That is a tough injury to recover from not only physically but mentally. With the slew of RB's behind Ricky, why not strengthen an area we are weak (WR, LB, OL depth). Remember, the OL clears the way for a RB. Maybe the Trifecta sees something in the youngsters that with solid line play, will develop them into good backs. The Trifecta has done a pretty good job evaluating so far.

Don't get me wrong, if Ronnie heals he can contribute. He is a good RB. But his declining number of games each season is a concern. Now he has a sprained thumb. Gotta weigh what he may contribute against upgrading elsewhere. That's business.

i love how people are trashing ronnie brown now ! we neeed to support our players ... as soon as a trade rumor comes out u people are quick to bring down that player thinking that will make you feel better about losing a key player which RB is to us. RW is great, better than RB yes, but i do not trust that guy at all ...

and how could someone compare Ronnie Brown to Ahmad Bradshaw !!!!!! that just plain RIDICULOUS !!!!!!!!! must be a Giants fan!

if we have to trade RB then we have to trade him i have no problem with that but we better get a top 10 1st rd pick in return anything less i'd be very disappointed!

His biggest problem is his ACL guys. This is a career ender in most RB's in the NFL. Get what you can out of him now before he is gone for good and you get nothing. I think its a smart move, although id hate to see Ronnie go. But think about this.......do we really care who is on the team if we can WIN again. 1-15 hurts more than anything, and not making the playoffs since 2001 is even worse. Someone has to do something.

We need both Ronnie and Ricky. They complement each other well. Either is one play from going down for the year. We get a 5th rounder for Ronnie and Ricky goes down we are going to be sorry. Sure there are young backs ready to step up but lets rely on them next year...not this year. We need experienced backs that can catch the ball out of the backfield.
I really hope this rumor is just that...I don't want to lose Ronnie.

like i said top 10 pick or nothing else ... who are we going to use if something happens to ricky ??? Jalen Parmelee ???? r u guys serious !

Parcells and Ireland are not stupid. Therefore, they will not be trading Ronnie Brown. Ricky is one positive drug test away from another indefinite suspension. And he's a free agent at the end of the year. If you get rid of Ronnie, you could easily be looking at Patrick Cobbs or Jalen Parmele as your #1 back before this year is over. Ricky has only played a full 16 game season 3 times in 8 years as a pro. His last 2 years have been shortened by a broken arm and torn chest muscle. The last thing that this team wants is to have their passing game exposed by having to do too much. The best way to make their subpar group of receivers look productive is to have a quality running game. Keeping both Ricky and Ronnie is the only move that makes sense.

People also want to make too much of Ronnie's ACL injury. Ronnie had the best case scenario for that injury. He tore just his ACL, with no surrounding damage. People think a torn ACL is the end of a RB's career. But it's not true any more. Jamal Lewis has run for almost 8000 yards since tearing his ACL. Terry Allen ran for almost 7000 yards after his ACL reconstruction. Edgerrin James has run for almost 8000 yards since his ACL surgery. Willis McGahee has 4500 yards rushing since his ACL surgery. Frank Gore has 3400 yards rushing in 3 years after tearing both his ACLs in college. An ACL injury is no longer a death sentence for a football player. Heck, look at Channing Crowder, who had 4 ACL surgeries before he graduated from high school. Ronnie will not be 100% at the start of this season, and maybe not even by the end of the year. But, the odds of him being back to his old self next season are very good.

I'm not a huge RBrown fan, but doing anything to get him out of this team is just dumb. End of story. That's all she wrote.

I will go on record as saying that trading/releasing Ronnie Brown will be one of the biggest mistakes in franchise history. Getting rid of him makes absolutely NO SENSE. I don't think Mort has any real source on this. More likely just throwing out his bizzare opinion.

Now i'm just starting to plain dislike this front office, and the fans on here who blindly defend them.

I know Ronnie Brown's big question mark is with his health, and it has been over his career thus far. Even coming into this season, we simply do not know if he will be the same player he looked like he was going to be last season and at times has shown he can be.

But come on....

Getting rid of Ronnie Brown?

FOR RICKY WILLIAMS NO LESS!

and you people are in SUPPORT of this!?

THE SAME PEOPLE who were ready to BURN DOWN Ricky Williams apartment in Miami after his testing positive for Marijuana use and retirement from the NFL. A positive test result that he has achieved on several occasions now (GOLD STAR FOR RICKY!).

This is how i know people are band-wagoners, and front runners. Jimmy Rollins was right!

Ronnie Brown may not exactly be the most reliable back in the NFL, especially coming off a serious ACL injury. But turning to Ricky Williams? That's like changing between two embezzling accountants.

Ronnie at least has played in the league for more than 5 carries since 2005-2006. I mean i guess turning to a guy five years out of playing his best football who's now 31 years old is a good decision......if you're an idiot.

And it's not like Ronnie Brown has proven he can't play in the NFL. We're talking about a guy with great vision, who's mix of power and speed could make him one of the better backs in the NFL if he could just stay on the field. His receiving skills are very good (perhaps not as good as Ricky's) too.

BUT KEEP ON SIPPING THAT KOOL AID FINHEAVEN!

Neither Ricky or Ronnie or Bill Parcells guys and Bill clearly thinks he can draft a RB late in the draft. If he can get a high draft pick or a pro bowl wide receiver for a perpetually injured runningback then I am all for it. People need to let go of past regime players. Zach is gone jason is gone, others will be gone soon... it is the only way to make this team better.

Right now I wouldnt trade/release Brown just on the chance that he does come back and is able to produce. I would however strongly consider drafting a RB in next years draft as insurance. Either way then our bases are covered, if both players do well its just a dual threat running game.

We can't trade Ronnie, it would really ruin our chances of winning the superbowl this year.

The fact is that to develope a stud wr seems to be a crap shoot, rb however is the easiest position to fill and easiest for any rookie to excel at and have an impact right away ( see NE,INDY,SF,NO,MINN, etc.. ). So if we're talking trading Ronnie for Boldin I think we'd be smart to do so, this could help Ginn and force safties to respect the vertical game. I'm not for leaving the season dependant on Ricky but if need be we'll draft another solid RB in the 2nd next year.
I love Ronnie but I am a strong believer that RB's are a dime a dozen and you never pay to much for them. Look at Jamal Lewis last year, behind a strong oline he looked 25 again, we are developing that kind of oline i.e. denver that you can put anyone in the backfield and have success year in and year out.
We're still 2 years away from serious contention and having Ginn coming into his own and Boldin across from him is a great start.

shouldn't you be mad at Mort, not the front office? He's the one floating this garbage. Who from this front office you are starting to hate has said that they want to jettison Ronnie?
