Roquan Smith to the Ravens

Hell for all we know he'll be a fin in 2023 anyway. He's an UFA next year and we can keep our picks. After our deep playoff run this year, he'll be the final piece this off-season for Tua's first super bowl run in year 4.

They have to worry about paying Lamar first and if they have to use the franchise tag on him Smith will be free to leave. I think he will get a bigger contract elsewhere.
Who else is Baltimore paying big money to though? Mark Andrews? They can still pay lamar and pay smith too.

I cant believe Grier let this go. What are we doing here? Nothing?
Looks like another 1st round exit if we make the playoffs.

Everyone acting like they

1. Didn’t try (we don’t know for sure)
2. Acting like the Asking price was the same as the Ravens, they may have told Miami a 1st and 3rd (who knows)

This isn’t apples to apples I can guarantee you if Miami was in on this that wasn’t the asking price they were given. The fact they play the bears and not only could he help them Game plan but shut down the one thing they have going for them, fields scrambling, it’s just not a good move for them to trade with Miami.

No this is his final year of his contract. He wanted a new contract before the season started and the Bears didn't give him one.

OK, so they don't need to wait to resign him.

Smith will not be leaving Baltimore IMO

Smith will be a free agent after this season. If they use the tag on Lamar Jackson then Smith could leave for a bigger contract elsewhere.

There's so many unknowns here guys, it doesn't make sense to be mad at Grier for not pulling the trigger when we literally know nothing about the situation. Maybe Roquan Smith told certain teams he won't sign with them and would test free agency so then those teams didn't want to give up a second and a fifth for a rental? Maybe he would only resign with Miami if they signed him to an absolutely massive deal that could really hurt Miami in the future. Maybe the Ravens were the first to make that offer and the Bears told other teams they have to offer a first if they want to be considered. We really have no idea.

What if he did tell Miami he would test free agency before signing an extension with them? Would you guys be happy to give up a 2nd and 5th for half a season of Roquan Smith?

Wouldn't the Dolphins be able to use the franchise tag on him to prevent him from leaving though?

Right now the 2nd and 5th round picks of the Ravens are higher than the Dolphins. So the Dolphins might have offered the same picks and the Bears figure they would rather have the picks which might end up higher in the draft.
