Ross: Marshall was going to be cut/Other issues addressed

When have you ever heard of me drinking Kool-Aid.

I never said it was a PR move to help the Dolphins.

I said it was a PR move to deflect some negative attention away from the Dolphins front office and ownership.

But you keep shoving words into my mouth if you need to.

If you are listening and believe there is any truth to this, you just drank the kool aid and liked it.

i dont drink the kool aid like some of you, this was organized planned, scripted to a tee by mr mike dee. The marshall thing was 1 thing, but striking out on 3 qbs there is nothing ross could say to get more false hopes for the fans after that. I'll support the dolphins no matter how bad we are but doesnt mean i agree with the decisions being made from the top.

you are right in this point, BUT:
1. Manning was a false hope for Ross, too. Cause he want him.
2. They made two faults:
a) they change the direction of handling the franchise (if we (the FO) talking to players, that doesn't mean, that we want to hire them 100%. which is maybe a very good way).
b) it took too lang, that they explain there reasons. if they would explain every move (marshall, too) directly after it happened, most people would understand. but they don't talk, so everybody was thinking: what are they doing?????

This is an early strike against Philbin imo, do you think Belichick would flat out cut his best offensive player just because he doesn't like his personality? Have a little confidence in your coaching abilities Mr. Philbin!

false hope? dolphins were the #1 favorites when manning hit free agency.

i think the marshall move was all ireland. I just believe philbin has much say in who goes or what comes here, why fisher and manning steered cleared of miami.

Eh, I didn't really get that from the article.

[Ross] goes, 'If my coachwanted Matt Flynn didn't you think he would be here?'" Lawrence said. "'If my coach said I want Matt Flynn as our starting quarterback next year he would be here, but I couldn't pay Matt Flynn $8 million to come here. If I end up getting him, it's a gamble … and I'm still drafting a quarterback. I'm still looking for another option."

Flynn, believed to be the Dolphins second free-agent quarterback target, reportedly received a three-year deal with $26 million including $10 million guaranteed from the Seatte Seahawks.

Ross has always said what he should say when he does reach out to the fans. I think he messed up when he said he will draft a QB. should have left that up in the air. teams will probably pick up on that and may waant to move up for Qb's in this draft, especially if we are targeting Tanny

to me it doesn't at all say we're drafting a QB. to me it says that based on his discussions with philbin, he determined flynn was a gamble, and he wasn't going to pay $8 million a year to a gamble, and then (as a team) you are still needing to draft a quarterback or you're still looking for another option at QB. and i absolutely agree with that.

i got news for ross and ireland, every qb is a gamble. Andrew luck is a gamble, robert robert griffin is a gamble, matt flynn is a gamble. There all gambles because u dont know how good they will be in the pros, if anything matt flynn was the lesser of the gambles because he has already shown how dominant he can be in the nfl. If they are scared to take gambles, they will forever be loosers, if u wanna win u gotta takes chances. Look at sparano, he never took chances, he never went for the win, and thus he was a loosing coach in the nfl every year he was in. except for the 1st year where bill parcells was telling him what to do.

i agree that college qb's are all gambles. but put yourself in ross' position. philbin just coached flynn from the moment he was drafted until now. he saw him every day. with all that up close knowledge, he cannot tell you that flynn will be any better than matt moore, your current quarterback, and the player you are desperately trying to upgrade from. do you outbid seattle for matt flynn?

whats to say philbin didnt? by now ross has lied so much to the fans how can u believe anything he says? i dont believe anything that comes out the dolphins front office. Its all playin politics, sayin whats best for tickets sales. With that said, they did go after flynn but no matter what philbin opinion was they would not overpay because ross is cheap and its evident ever since the orton trade. Which was a good move by ross cause orton wasnt worth it but whats to say flynn wasnt worth the gamble if philbin gave his endorsement, il tell you who, the other dumb and dumber ireland was that guy. Ireland disagreed with philbin and thats why we didnt get flynn, ireland the dolphin destroyer? what about if this kid lights it up in seatle and becomes one of the great qbs in the nfl next year and yet again the dolphins are still with backups old qbs.

Philbin knows exactly what kind of QB Matt Flynn is, that's why he was only offered a contract for a back-up

philbin has no say in contract negotiations. He has an opinion but ireland has the final say, that is a fact. Even so, reason flynn didnt come to miami wasnt just because of money, he was treated better by the seahawks front office and felt more at home.

i don't care what anybody on the dolphins comes out and says publicly. it's irrelevant. and regarding potential personnel moves it's usually disinformation. i'm not the kind of fan that needs to hear from the owner or the gm to soothe my poor nerves. the amount that people on this board are hung up on the PR bullcrap is amazing. "ross should have said this." "ireland should have said that." "are we rebuilding?" "are we?" "i need to hear what's going on." who cares? just open your eyes. it's all about actions, not words, and the product on the field. if flynn becomes the next great quarterback in this league for seattle, that is squarely on philbin, because i believe that if ross was told flynn was a franchise qb by philbin, ross would have outbid the seahawks for him. ross is not cheap. ross will spend to the cap. ross knows we desperately need a franchise qb to compete consistently. don't just be a naysayer and try to play it like despite ross knowing flynn was a franchise qb he lowballed him and lost him to seattle. pretty sure that never happened.
