****roster Critique*****

honestly tho i think we should back the vote up another week

for now, I say we keep the deadline and push for votes for this sunday and if there isnt good turnout, our last resort can be delaying..

Unbelievable. No love for Tampa. I doubt there's an offense that could score more than 10 points on that defense

Philthy Philly :D

I know I said I would do a critique of the teams but I have been pretty busy the past little while but I have not commited to doing a critique of each team, one or two a day depending on how much time I have. So without further ado...first on the list the Kansas City Chiefs!

KC Chiefs:

Quarterbacks (B+)
Starter - Michael Vick
Analysis: I think Vick is one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the league, however he is still learning to develop as a pocket passer, which can be seen by his 2400 yards and around 15 touchdowns. I think to really compete he will have to get the TD total up but he has some talented recievers to work for. Herm Edwards is a good coach and I think he'll let Vick run a little more, which is a big key to opening up the field when the defense is worried about your guy running.

Backups - Jeff Garcia, Charlie Whitehurst, Tarvaris Jackson
Analysis: I like what you did here, Garcia is a solid backup and could do some spot starts when needed and he also has the mobility to rush a couple TDs. Whitehurst and Jackson are good projects to build on, with my opinion Jackson having the bigger upside, they'll make a solid #2 and 3 QB after Garcia spends a year as Vicks backup.

Runningnack (A)
Starter(s) - HB Larry Johnson, FB Kyle Johnson
Analysis: I like the Johnson and Johnson backfield you have, they'll be slicker than J&J baby oil, and stronger than the smell of baby powder. Kyle is an underrated FB because he was blocking for Bell and Anderson in Denver, but in KC he will start to get noticed, though not on the same level as Tony Richardson he is solid. Larry Johnson had an amazing year, imagine if he started every game. Now Herm knows a thing or two about having a franchise RB, just ask Curtis Martin who has consistently churned out 1000 yard seasons. Larry is a big powerful runner and will be a good block to build on for seasons to come.

Backups - Shelton, Eric, William Green, Smith, McKenzi, Wilson, Travis
Analysis: I'm not as thrilled with your depth as your starters. Green has been for a lack of better word underwhelming since he started in the league, but he is suitable for a 3rd or 4th option. Eric Shelton was hurt last year, but is a back like Stephen Davis and could be a power runner for KC. Overall there is a big drop after LJ.

Widerecievers (B)
Starters - Terrel Owens and Eddie Kennison
Analysis: TO can be the man when he plays without any outside antics, but he is a big character risk that can ruin a team, just ask the 49ers or Eagles. For all the talent he has, he's just too much trouble and Herm Edwards isn't the kind of coach that could control him. Eddie has been solid for the Chiefs for a while now, but I'm not sure how well he will work with Vick. If they get on the same page and form chemistry that'll be good. However I think you should have gotten someone younger than TO and Eddie to grow with Vick.

Backups - Carter, Drew, Curry, Nate, McIntyre, Jeris, Michael Lewis
Analysis: I like Drew Carter, he can be a good third reciever but he's still unproven. 3 games in 2 seasons that has produced only 103 yards? Big questions there. Michael Lewis can be a good third, but will really help your team as the return specialist which you've indicated. So good choice there. Once again beyond your big two there isn't much else here. So when TO goes wild or if either gets hurt Vick won't be airing out the ball.

Tightends (A-)
Starter - Tony Gonzalez
Analysis: Tony is getting up there in age, and the new era of tightends that he help usher in is here. He can still get the job done, but with his age he might be injury prone at this stage of his career. He's #2 for Tight Ends in the league.

Backups - Golliday, Aaron, Walden, Willie
Analysis: I know you were cash strapped but I think you could have found some better tight ends for depth, maybe a more reknown blocker.

Offensive Line (B)
Robert Gallery, Brian Waters, Casey Wiegmann, Will Shields, Chris Bober
Analysis: I like that you managed to keep the Guards and Center intact, and adding Gallery was nice, but he has been underperforming the last couple of seasons and hasn't lived up to the hype but that was in Oakland and in KC he will have much better guys to work with and take some pressure off. I'm not completely sold on Bober who is better suited as a backup for a Guard or Center. So you're line is partial there.

Backups - Svitek, Will, Parquet, Jeremy, Heyer, Peter
Only three backups? You may have a little trouble if someone gets hurt on the o-line. Once again you're depth has left me a little underwhelmed.

Defensive Line (B)
Starters - Jared Allen, Ryan Pickett, Ryan Sims, Derrick Burgess
Analysis: I like your defensive line, but it isn't really going to be the most dominating. Burgess is a very good rusher off the end and could lead the league in sacks again, mean while Allen is a solid option at RE. your pair of Ryans in the middle will be solid, just not spectacular.

Backups - Hicks, Eric, Ville, Zack, Siavii, Junior, Montavious Jackson, Manaia Brown
Analysis: I like a couple guys here in Hicks and Siavii but the other three are interchangable parts with other backup free agents you could get.

Linebackers (B-)
Starters - Derrick Johnson, Lavar Arrington, Kawika Mitchell
Analysis: Johnson is a solid starter at OLB and should get stronger to shed blockers but will be solid for years to come. Arrington is a character guy who can be good, or just take plays off. So it's a matter of keeping him motivated. Kawika had a solid year last season with 105 tackles and I don't see why he couldn't do it again or around 80-90 tackles.

Backups - Bart Scott, Brandon Moore
Analysis: One more LB couldn't hurt, but I think Bart was a really good pick up who showed that he could be a starter in this league. I think he should be starting here if you move Arrington outside and put Bart in the middle. Moore is a good guy to come off the bench.

Backfield (B)
Starters - Patrick Surtain, Chris Mcallister, Tank Williams, Sean Taylor
Analysis: This experiment could be good, or could go sour. I like McCallister who learned how to play solid D in Baltimore and can start for any team, he'll be a key cog in your defense. Surtain is getting older but gives you a viable option for now. Tank fills his spot at secondary nicely but a major concern is Taylors off the field trouble, it'll cost the team a lot of grief if he has to miss time because of his antics. On the field he can help, but can you be sure he'll be there 100% of the time?

Backups - Connot, Scott, Woods, Jerome, Jason Webster, Helms, Gabriel, Perkins, Justin
Analysis: You didn't even really mention your backups, so I'm guessing the majority of them will be throw away parts until you get a little more cap space. Howevr I lke Webster and Woods who can be viable backups at S, or nickle backs. Once again lack of depth kills it for me.

Special Teams (B+)
K John Kasay, P Dustin Colquitt
Analysis: Kasay has been solid throughout his career and nothing should change here and Dustin is only 2 years into his career and averages 39 yards per punt, so far he's been a solid option.

Summary: You've got talent in your starters but there is a lot of character issues that will hold you back, I think you managed to take a step forward but at the same time shoot yourself in the foot if any of the character problems surface because that's a lot of press KC doesn't need. Another thing that will hurt you is depth, and once a starter goes it's a domino effect for the Chiefs.

The Indy Trio of Manning, Edge, and Harrison tends to get it done... For some reason I have a feeling that they'd score more than 10 points.

Well if we are playing this game.

Tatum Bell, TJ Duckett, Willie Parker. Who are you gonna stop on the ground? Power, Speed, or a little bit of both.

Or we can go Ward, Lelie, Lewis, Davis, Morgan. Ward over the middle and the rest will race you two the endzone. If nothing is there Ben will toss it to Kreider or Heath Miller. But he'll have all the time in the world with that Pitt O-line. And with all the scoring the BEST defense in the leauge will be doing, the backups might be in by half:D

BTW look I took some initiative and the votes are pouring in:D

 I really like the left side of your oline but Simmons and Essex would have their hands full with Hovan and Hall and Dansby. You would have to run 70 percent of the time to your left, right at Rice, McFarland and Mcintosh and that would diminsh your play calling ability:evil:  If you could pull it off you might have a chance:evil:

Simmons played in the SB and Essex is HUGE. I might have to compensate a little bit for your talent but if it will be won through defense so be it. Ike is the shutdown man taking your top WR away, Dawkins and Troy P will keep you from passing downfield. And once you start trying to pound the ball...game over:lol:

 Really Like your starting oline. If we played at the beginning of the year when they were all healthy I would have to try to exploit Dockery going up against Mcfarland although I think Rice against Samuels would be a classic matchup and in the game I would probably have my eyes glued on that matchup all game long. There would be plenty of blitzing going on with Dansby, Mcintosh and the occasional db blitz and against Kitna or Campbell I would make you beat me deep. The underneath passing game would be nonexistent but if Campbell or Kitna could hit a couple of deep ones it could get interesting
