RUMOR: Developing Story: Matt Moore on the Trade Block !!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we are looking at this in a doom scenario.

If say, Tannehill has to sit out a game or two during the season, can Moore step in and win? If yes, then he's worth the $5.

I think we will all regret, if Tannehill has a strained hammy or hurt wrist, etc. and we need Moore to step in for 2-3 weeks and get a couple of W's to keep us in playoff race.

Understood, if Tannehill goes down for the long term, the season is a wrap. But what about short term sub in?

Do you trust Quinn to even come close to getting us a W?

i don't trust any of these backup bums to get us a win...matt moore being a nice guy and a team guy doesn't matter to me...i don't care if he always has a smile on his face...he should he made like $5 mil last year for like 5 snaps all season...and threw 2 picks in those 5

brady quinns garbage too...so it's not a preference thing

I think Matt Moore can probably get this team 1-2 wins if Ryan Tannehill has to miss four games. Brady Quinn gets us 0 wins.

I still think I would rather have that extra 5 million in salary cap space to roll over, though. Just my honest opinion.

If the team looks like they cannot contend for a playoff spot, I'm all for adding cap space and whatever picks we can get. I'm not at that point.

Good move, I am still shocked we had 3 QB on a average team last yr, I would have traded him last yr and let Devlin handle the back up duties.....He is a good backup QB but I wouldn't pay 5 million for a back up on a average team....I am starting to like the FO, sometimes you have to give up good players in one area you are strong at to strengthen areas were you are weak.....hope we move a WR and back up QB and pick up help in the secondary, LB and O line....

Who told you that? One of your invisible resources?

 if he plays i will let you figure it out...

I'm not saying Moore is a top shelf guy. A few weeks ago, I came around to the notion we can carry 2 QBs instead of 3 IF Devlin could surplant Moore. As I have long believed Moore's value to us was as a mentor and on field sounding board for RT. As well as being able to give us at least a .500 chance to win games if we needed him to start. And I believe the "short term starter" value he gives us is being completely swept under the rug to help invalidate his $5M contract.

If we are in Week 14 and are in the Wildcard hunt or better, we absolutely MUST protect our playoff hopes. A playoff for this team has astronomical value to this organization. It cannot be undervalued or overlooked simply because we don't anticipate we could win a Super Bowl. This organization and it's players need reinforcement that we are headed in the right direction. They need validation. If it's late in the year and Moore is our starter, I've not turned off the TV or conceded the season is over. The games are still on the schedule and we still have a chance.

I was okay with cutting Moore IF Devlin could prove he was ready for the QB2 spot. But out of nowhere, Devlin is cut. I'm sure those that believe Devlin's ceiling had been reached were glad to see this "long over due" move made. It can be spun however they want. I trust the coaches' judgement on Devlin.

But to trade Moore and bring in Quinn after cutting Devlin no more than a week ago .... seems like this strategy could have been employed or foreeseen earlier in FA and before the draft. I will say it seems Philbin is giving Lazor full reign over the QBs. And it seems this is Lazor making decisions about his QBs. I agree with this philosophy. I just question the timing. And I question the lack of options we have left ourselves with at this stage in the game.

I would have thought it more appropriate to show more evidence of this strategy of turning over the QB depth with us bringing in more legitimate options earlier. To have a true competition for QB2 and QB3 with FAs and a draft pick, in addition to Jensen.

It just seems very unorganized from my viewpoint. Unless something unforeseeable has taken place in the past few weeks.

This. If we are 8 - 6 with 2 games left.... are we tossing in the towel on the playoffs simply because our Franchise QB is hurt? No.

that's fair...i get your take on it...you could dummy down the offense and play it closer to the vest and maybe get by...for a game or so i guess...

til his flaws came out like they always do

You're giving Moore way to much credit, If RT is out 2 games it better be the D that steps up to give this team a chance to win and for the team to win it better be against teams that suck so why hold on to him if you can get something for him.....I like Moore but how many games has he won in the back up roll? if this team was SB contenders then I would agree to keep a good veteran on staff as a back up....but Quinn or whoever can hand the ball off and throw check downs for two games on a team that's trying to win 9 games....

This.....

honestly the only thing mat moore does at a high level on the actual football field is he throws a nice deep ball...that's it...the mentoring a 3rd year qb stuff i mean that was all well and good but this is year 3 he doesnt need it...it's overrated anyways...either a qb can play and will figure it out or he can't...

there's fatal flaws in matt moores game just like every other pretty much veteran for life back up...that's why they always are backups...no one trusts them or wants to hitch the wagon to them

I dont like this, if it's true. My confidence in Moore is high. If RT gets injured, he gives us the best chance to win games.

and i would agree that if something happens to thill moore gives us the best chance to win in his absence...i just don't believe those odds are in our favor at all...one game 3 games it doesn't matter...i don't believe in the qb winning games for us if thill gets hurt

so i'd rather have a cheaper alternative

maybe not 'winning the game for us' but not losing for us either. I think the cheaper options may cost us games that are close in the 4th.

Also agreed however I don't see Thill getting injured. Maybe the coaching staff are going on what they saw from Moore last year when he relieved Thill and looked like total and complete crap. Perhaps Moore is on the downside of his career now? Not sure. But the coaching staff must see more value in getting a pick for him than paying him 6M.

If this happens you got to pray that nothing happens to Thill because if our season ends up in Quinns hands we are fudged.

I call bull**** unless someone provides a legit source.

I don't doubt that Moore is on trade block I just doubt that any teams really care.
