Well...we traded a very high 3rd round pick for Gordon and cut him....So yes...I think we would deal him for less than a 3rd rounder.

well, the fins have a lot of RBs, same with the broncos. thats why they were willing to get rid of a rb who cost them alot to get. their value to their teams was very low.

i think AJ is diffrent. yall dont have a lot of QBs on the roster. it takes a long time to learn a new offense, and would take a new guy a while before he could realisticly come in and do his job if an injury should happen. so i dont think signing a FA and making him the #2 would be a great thing to do. even though there is always a team that does it out of desperation almost every year.

i guess some fin fans are high on your backup, i forgot his name :confused: , cus he played well in preseason. i can understand that, but ill say aj is better that that guy. and who knows what will happen after a few games. maybe aj will come in and finish the season.

i think they know that too..and Rohan was cut because the kid from USC straight up outplayed him, but Rohan has wayyyyyyyy more upside than A.J. imo

No he doesn't. A backup from USC beat him out. What does that tell you. AJ had some success in Philly. Davey has done absolutely nothing.

I wanted Orlovsky too and I bet if Saban kept Spielman around he'd be atleast our backup right now considering he fell to the 5th round. I remember how I kept seeing articles about Rick scouting him all last season. But good thing Rick wasn't around 'cuz with his propensity for overpaying for guys he likes Orlovsky would've been the second pick of the draft!!

no. i think AJ will come in after gusn looses a few. play better than gus, only slightly, and become the starter again. or, be named starter next season, (depending on next years draft and FA/trade in the offseason). why would you simply get rid of him? at the worst, you have a backup QB.

You have to take into consideration the depth chart rules in the NFL. You can't list someone as the third string qb and put them in if your starter gets injured or you risk losing your ability to put the second string qb in the game. No team would ever risk that. Looking at the situation with that in mind makes me believe that Saban could give a rats azzzz about Feeley and would part with him in an instant. Im a little disturbed that he didn't take something for Gordan knowing that he was going to let him go for nothing. My question is why wouldn't you take what you can get, never mind what it cost you?

NOBODY will pick up the last 4 years of a 5 year, 19 mil contract with a 3 mil bonus. Not to mention that if we trade him, the remainder of his bonus is put on our cap immediately (2.4 million).

AJ wont be traded. If he is cut before Sunday (obviously not looking likely, but I'm certainly hoping), his cap hit is EASILY managed this year and next.

You don't keep a player simply because you paid a lot for him....especially when it was the previous regime that overpaid. If Saban could get a 3rd rounder for Feeley Im sure he would jump on it. However, the rest of the league has seen Feeley struggle last year and in this year's preseason so I seriously doubt anyone would be willing to pay that price. Also consider that Feeley will almost certainly be cut at the end of the season anyway due to his escalating base salary, so why wouldnt Saban take a 4th or 5th round pick for him now?

I don't think the coaching staff agrees with you abou AJ being better than Sage seeing as they demoted AJ below Sage.

The expectation is that there is no way AJ is with Miami next year. His pay is low enough now but it balloons next year. His contract was basically a two year audition.

So is a third QB who is not in our future plans worth a third to the team? I doubt it. I think Saban would take almost any pick for him and be just as happy bringing in a guy like Mauck to be the 3rd string guy.

All this talk of AJ sucking, but in the same paragraph lets bring in Couch or Davey. Is this logical thinking? We all know that AJ probably is running out of chances, but look at the chances that Couch has. He couldn't cut it in Cleveland and was released from the Packers. But he has to be better than AJ. Davey has done nothing and aside from the fact that he was just released must mean he is better than AJ. I'm not an AJ homer, I just want production out of our qb position. We have perhaps the most talented group of receivers to play together in a very long time and I don't want that talent not to be shown on the field due to an ineffective qb. Let's quit talking about bringing in more backup garbage and thinking it is better than what we have. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

probaby true, but the team that receives Feeley would not have to pay any bonus for him. If he agreed to a restructure, a trade might be possible. Moving some base salary into guaranteed signing bonus could reduce his cap hit for a couple of years for a new team....that is if any team would be willing to guarantee him anything. If nothing else, a team could use Feeley this season and pay only his base salary ($550K), then cut him before next season if he doesnt improve. If he does improve, then they could restructure his deal to be a bit more cap friendly.

As of now, no team is going to give up ANY draft pick(s) for AJ. He has done absolutely nothing to prove he can play in the NFL.

Once (if ever) he's starts playing to his projected potencial then you might be able to get something for him.....but as of now, no chance.

He's been a better than average backup, so for you to say he's done absolutely nothing is just plain uninformed.
If Detroit is interested, it would be as a backup. He's probably more comfortable in their offensive system anyway, and they probably know that.
