(rumor) Lions could look at A.J.

Well, this would actually be a good move for Feeley because he'd be back in the WCO that he directed in Philly and in college...It would be a good move for us, (and I say this even tho I've been an AJ supporter) because he'll never get a fair shake here...even if he gets to start, every time he throws the ball away because of good coverage, someone will post an 'AJ sucks' thread. However, that would leave us with the dilemma of having only a mediocre Gus that has some experience and mediocre backup with no starting experience (very little anyways)...Enter Couch...he has been injured and that was the main reason he was cut by GB...He wore out his welcome in Cleveland but was that due to the 2nd class FO clashing with Davis or strictly because of his talent ?? I don't think the FO was sold on Couch and Davis was stuck with a #1 pick and pressure to make him the starter...He played on some pretty bad teams in Cleveland, that had to have something to do with his lack of success. Rohan is usually listed here because of his connection with Saban...Couch has starting experience, needs time to get back into the game (which as a 3rd string QB for us would be able to) and IF HEALTHY, has the ability to be better than Gus or Sage...What is the issue with taking a flier on him, if we can dump AJ ??

IMO it would be a waste of time trying to get another qb to fit into the system since the season has started. I personally think it would be in our best interest to hold on to Feeley (I also wanted Feeley to do well) at least until the end of the season. Tim Couch couldn't hold off Kelly Holcomb for the starter job in Cleveland. However, if Saban thinks that maybe Tim would be a potential starter for our team, then bring him in. But if it is just to back up Gus for this year, I think keeping Feeley would be the best option.

How could anyone be interested after such a pathetic preseason and awful season last year. This guy simply shows no ability to ever become an effective quarterback. He just does not have what it takes.
The guy who is starting for Miami had just as pathetic preseason & he had a 2 year start in learning the offense.

Saban would cut him in a heartbeat. Feeley had his chance and BLEW IT!!

You have to take into consideration the depth chart rules in the NFL. You can't list someone as the third string qb and put them in if your starter gets injured or you risk losing your ability to put the second string qb in the game. No team would ever risk that. Looking at the situation with that in mind makes me believe that Saban could give a rats azzzz about Feeley and would part with him in an instant. Im a little disturbed that he didn't take something for Gordan knowing that he was going to let him go for nothing. My question is why wouldn't you take what you can get, never mind what it cost you?
i didnt know there was a "depth chart rule" in the nfl.

but my point is that AJ has value to the fins. even if its just as the 3rd QB, (i dout he will stay the #3 guy for long). i dont see gus finishing the season. and i definatly dont see gus starting next season. IMO, AJ still has "potential", and if not of much use now, can be of use later in the season, and maybe next season.

but i see your point about getting some value for a guy your going to cut. but i just think hes worth more to your team, than his current trade value. so he wont be traded.

Outrageous

I can't believe that over 2.000 people have viewed this crappy post with no legitimate proof whatsoever.

Cut AJ now, Berlin's a better third. There are some good QB prospects coming out next year....we should be able to get one. I like what DJ Shockley did in his first game as a starter in Georgia, he could be had in the Second Round after the Leinharts, Youngs, Leaks, and Jacobs of the world are snatched up....hopefully we could then grab a stud OL in the first and some corners and safeties in the latter rounds

Trade Feeley for Orlovsky i'm tellin you this kid could be the next brady

Actually you are incorrect. If you look over "average" stats for a QB this past year, AJ is right near the bottom. I agree that he has showed "glimpses" of talent but mostly he has proved to be below average.h

Read the entire post. I am talking about backups, which is what he was at Philly.

Dan Orlovsky's 2003 Stats
G ATT CMP % YDS TD INT
12 475 279 58.7 3,485 33 14

Um, why all the talk about AJ being a great fit in the Lions system? The Lions run a derivative of the West Coast Offense, which prizes quick throws and quick decision making. It means you have to run through your checkdowns quicker than a standard offense.

AJ, meanwhile, stares down his first receiver like the guy 10 minutes before closing time checking out the last girl at the bar.

If the Detroit Lions or any team in the NFL offers us ANYTHING for A.J. Feeley, I say we should take it because of right now AJ is not even worth a 7th rounder. If Detroit offered us a 6th or 7th, we'd be getting the better end of the deal.

Pain, we wouldn't even see this argued in the closed section. AJ would be gone if the Lions offered anything at all for him. It doesn't matter we gave up a 2nd round pick for him, he won't be put in if Gus struggles ( Sage Will) that's why Sage is 2 on the depth chart, that was for the Bills fan and his prediction that AJ would be the QB again, but play slightly better than Gus, he never mentioned our number 2 QB, Sage.

AJ Might even get cut, so the Lions if they are at all interested could be waiting for that to happen. After AJ was dropped to 3rd on the depth chart and Wanny and Spielmans picks were dropping like Flies, it's obvious AJ will never play QB for the Fins again. Unless some freak injuries happen.

He is done here in Miami.

lol, how many games did he play last season? do you really think, after a VERY high 2nd round pick invested in this guy, they would just let him go for pennies?

no. i think AJ will come in after gusn looses a few. play better than gus, only slightly, and become the starter again. or, be named starter next season, (depending on next years draft and FA/trade in the offseason). why would you simply get rid of him? at the worst, you have a backup QB.

EDIT: i type to slow...

but am i seriously the only person here, that thinks the team will not trade aj for anything less than a 3rd rounder? you got to be kidding. i must be going out of my mind... :goof:

Normally You WOULD be right. But look at how they released L. Gordon last week after investing (trashing) a 3rd round pick on him. AJ's a different situation. AJ, along with Gordon, were 2 BAAAD moves made by the last administration. THey screwed up. Saban's not gonna sit there and pretend that it is what it isn't. Nobody in there right mind would give up a draft pick for Feeley now. Even if someone did, it DAMN sure isn't gonna be any better than a 7th rounder. -and that's wishful thinking. And 2nd, YOU HAVE GOT TO BE COMPLETELY OUT OF YOUR MIND IF YOU THINK AJ COMES BACK NEXT SEASON. YOU ARE TOTALLY FRIED. He may get another chance to play this year if GUs and Sage both totally flop, (yes feeley has fallen behind rosenfels on the depth chart-aj's now 3rd string) but he wont be here further than this year.
