Rush was right!

McNabb is not an elite(top 3-5) QB but certainly in the upper third of Qbs. Now if you want to talk about overrated, look at Vick aka Tim Couch with wheels.

No, see, Rush said he was overated because he was black. Now many people are saying he's overrated because he played poorly this year. See the difference here? It's pretty important.

Well when Rush said what he said McNabb had the worst or the 2nd to worst QBR in the NFL.

At the time McNabb was very AVG, whether he was white, black or yellow.

All this race crap is BS to me. Why do they look at these QB's that are black as black. Donovan is not average. He actually is one of the top 6 7 QB's in the league. Right behind peyton, palmer, brees, culpepper, brady. Gus Ferrotte is average, fieldler was average. Rush limbaugh was an idiot, just like that guy in the philly paper who said donnovan should be rush more cause hes black. What the hell does this have to do with anyone.

And on top of that matter, why is it that people complain about the shortage of black coaches. Would you all rather had someone else besides saban. Im sure the pats like Bellichick,or steelers with cower. I think best man should get job and there should be no need for bs interviews due to some arcaic rule. You dont see any organizations complaining about there not being enough white running backs. Personally I do think art shell has gotten the raw deal this year with all the hires but doesnt mean he should be hired cause he is black and there are other more qualified canidates such as linehan or childress.

i disagree. how many times do you see white coaches recycled on different teams even though they had garbage years? there are plenty of african american coaches that deserve to be head coaches, but unless they do something spectacular and very noticable then they get passed up and end up coordinators somewhere. i'd like to say that its not racism that is causing this, but i dont know what else to call it

At the time - October of 2003 - McNabb had mostly ridden on the coattails of his defense. His best season was an 86.0. By no means was McNabb any kind of elite quarterback. Now, AFTER that, McNabb posted a 104.7 QB rating and took his team to the Super Bowl. It does not appear (though we really can't tell) that that was an indication of future success.

Was McNabb overrated at the time? I don't think that's even a question. Was he overrated because of his skin color? I have absolutely no idea, and I don't think anybody else does either. Rush of all people should know this: the media is incredibly stupid. They will say or do just about anything if they think it will get them attention. Hyping McNabb was trendy at the time, so they did it. There are always guys that are underrated and guys that are overrated, and there always will be guys that are underrated and guys that are overrated.

Sorry infins

Really, none of it even matters, whos saying it now, if anyone is saying it now, what rush said 2-3 years ago. Bottom line is that he was just stating his opinion, and not once did anything he said come out to me and say "This guy really hates black people!" People with below average intelligence decided that because he used the word "black", it was a racist statement and he should be burned at the stake.

I wish we had a QB that is half od Mcnabb. We woulb be instant SB contenders.

It's just so HARD to be a white quarterback in this league. They never get a fair shot. Everybody thinks they're worse than they are because they're not black!

My heart goes out to Tom Brady and Peyton Manning and Big Ben and Drew Brees... they've overcome such adversity to be accepted for what they can do rather than the color of their skins!

Thing is Michael Smith is African American himself

And he didnt say Mcnabb is over rated because he is black or that black QB's should get special treatment

Basically what he said is this- African American QB's dont need people criticizing their every throw because they are black, and shouldnt have to face the past before we had guys like Warren Moon, and Randle Cunningham, so on.

get it?

I think u summed it up nicely. The difference between what Michael Smith said and what Rush Limbaugh said is obvious to anyone that isnt a Rush apologist. Some of the statements made in this thread are thinly disguised racist nonsense. Anyone that believes white people are victims needs to spend a day in a black person's shoes and shut the hell up.
McNabb overrated? Please, the guy is a allpro just about every year hes been healthy, with our without TO. His WR's stink, he was hurt ALL year even when playing this year doesnt make him overrated. McNabb is a top 5 Qb when healthy theres no question about it. This McNabb is overrated by the media because hes black is pure nonsense. I mean all the black Qbs get kid glove treatment right? Please.
Rush was rightfully fired because hes a notalent hack that obviously didnt know what he was talking about. Hes a racist plain and simple. He probaly popped a few pills too many that day.

what limbaugh said wasn't too far off. both made the point that black quarterbacks get special treatment, and SHOULDN'T.

I just don't see the special treatment of black quarterbacks. Rush is an idiot to even try to defend his older statements. Maybe once in his life he will actually admit to being wrong about something.

So you don't think race had anything do to with McNabb being pushed the way he was by the NFL while McNabb was such an AVG QB?
