Russell Wilson could have been a Miami Dolphin

Wouldn't it be easier to just look at the last time Belichick faced Wilson where he threw for 300 yards, 3 TDs and had a 133 passer rating? Just in that one game Wilson had a higher passer rating (133) and higher Y/A (10.9) than Tannehill has ever had in his entire career. In Foxborough too.

Nope. Because that Pats defense was TERRIBLE. Sample set of this year is fine.

I think he is extremely limited.

Watch the Pats today give him a muddle rush…they cannot rush the passer anyways. They will hem in the pocket and he will not be able to see, nor run, plus the Pats CB's will plaster his receivers. Wilson will have no answers.

Go look up the game plan of the Jets in the late 90's (Belichick was the DC) vs. Doug Flutie of Buffalo. It will be the same and Flutie was dominated.

Lord knows that is one of Tannehill's major weaknesses . . . you get pressure up the middle, Tannehill is a sitting duck. I have more faith in Russell Wilson finding a way to make plays.

You think he's extremely overrated and very limited, then why so much of hedging your opinion on this one game? . . . . dude has balled for 3 years straight . . . and you still doubt him, that's not him being overrated (overrated now because he's in the Super Bowl and is the QB getting the ratings) . . . hell I'm still waiting for Colin Kaepernick to blow by him like all the experts predicted he would. Sometimes, a guy can just absolutely overcome any shortcomings and mentally play the position better than everybody else on the field and use his athleticism to make plays on the ground. The fact that he can also make big time plays in the air is more the reason to appreciate what he's done the past 3 seasons. Yes, he has a great defense and a great running game, be's he's a great QB in his own right. They all compliment each other very well.

And even if Russell doesn't get it done tonight and doesn't play particularly well . . . he's still a top QB in this league.

People are so defensive about Ryan Tannehill . . . . he needs to create his own legacy, with his own team, and if the team never improves and he never reaches the playoffs, that shouldn't discredit the job Russell Wilson has done.

Three years in, Russell Wilson is the better QB . . . I don't know why people want to thumbs down that notion

They were ranked 15th in 2012 and 11th this year. Not exactly night and day.

Pats pass defense in 2012: 29th at 271.4

Pats pass defense in 2014:13th at 239.8

They had an awful pass defense in 2012.

Bottom line…lets see what Wilson does against the same defense RT has competed against twice as did Luck.

Because many, including myself, believe that Russell Wilson hasn't proved anything outside of being exactly what the Seahawks need him to be. He's great for their offensive scheme and it would appear that no matter how poorly he plays, NFC Championship game as an example, it's very unlikely he costs his team the game.

I can't pronounce Russell Wilson the better QB because they are two totally different players in two totally different situations. Does anyone truthfully believe that Russell Wilson on any other team, but Seattle, has the same level of success as he is having there? Not to say he wouldn't be good, however, it's foolhardy to think he goes to a Super Bowl let alone back-to-back Super Bowls.

At this point all I can say is that Russell Wilson is in a position that allows him to play to his strengths. He doesn't have to worry about someone else on his team not filling the gap if he doesn't show up. Tannehill on the other hand is in the complete opposite situation.

So Russell Wilson is the more successful QB 3 years in, however, to me that doesn't mean he is the better QB.

They won't rush him. They will stay in their lanes and keep him hemmed in the pocket. His legs are more dangerous than his arm.

All you have to do is watch both guys play the position, watch both guys in the pocket, watch their decision making and even watch how they throw the ball down the field . . . and you can tell who the better QB is. Where has Tannehill shown that he's the better QB? His ball placement was attrocious for 2+ years, he has one of the worst deep balls in the NFL, he needed the read option to actually move around with his legs because he had no instincts his first 2 years to move out of the pocket and even with a below average oline took a fair share of sacks on his own merit.

Tannehill was a higher draft pick and he's taller, and on paper, that should indicate he's got a higher ceiling and a higher chance of becoming a better QB, but success aside, Russell has just played QB better than Ryan 3 years in . . . . straight homerism if you feel otherwise . . . but go ahead. Feel good at how far he's come with his limited QB experience and the potential going forward and I can even understand people rather wanting Tannehill over Wilson because they feel the future is bright with Tannehill and that's fine . . . . but Russell Wilson is the better QB in the NFL the first 3 years of their career.

I will say it again…NOBODY will be talking about Wilson if the Packers could have fielded a bad onside kick or even worse executed 2 point conversion.

We will never know, because Russell was able to convert that 2 point conversion and make big throws in OT so Green Bay wouldn't even see the football again. Big time player, big time plays . . . . of course being a Dolphins fan we live in the "hypothetical world" because we don't know any better so I can understand where you are coming from.

Lets see what happens tonight. I hope he is great. Trust me. However, I think he will be terrible tonight. He will have nowhere to go….in large part because he is limited.

The Dolphins are in good hands with Tannehill. This offseason has to be about allowing him to do his job better.

I'm not a Tannehill fanatic, but I wholeheartedly agree . . . the decisions made this offseason needs to be about him taking the next step and Tannehill himself also putting in the work this offseason to make himself better.

Armando even bringing this topic up is bad journalism and more hindsight, which is the world we Dolfans live in. I said as much early on in this thread . . . . people don't need to justify Tannehill vs. Wilson . . . we have Tannehill and we need to get better with him at QB.

While you are watching all those things watch the difference in the looks each qb gets from the defense too

I'm with Dawg in this discussion. While I believe Ryan is getting better and better and is our future you certainly can not take away from the accomplishments and talent of the guy in Seattle. Like I said earlier i'm good with our guy but Wilson is an exceptional QB and that is a fact.

I agree Tannehill doesn't have the "escapability" of a Romo and Wilson, but lets not forget its not only the middle of the line that collapse for the Dolphins. Its also that right side of the line with Dallas Thomas that was dreadful this year. Hopefully Albert can come back healthy and we can beef up the interior line and get a power running game going. It'd be nice to be able to run the ball on 3rd and short rather than having to run a play out of shotgun. What is a FB? Hopefully we can get one of those.

Sure, part of that is because the defense is more on their heels because of Russell's ability as a dual threat.
