I took a quick second look at Brenner at the half and watched him in the second half. It's only the SD D, which is nothing great, but played very well. He missed a run block at 6:30 in the 2nd quarter, gave up a sack at 3:00 in the 3rd, and missed another pass block for a QB hurry. I think they were the only mistakes for the practice squad guy playing in his first NFL game.

A few plays that stood out were Brenner pulling n runs at 12:50 and 11:35 of the 2nd quarter, and 11:30 in the 4th quarter for nice gains from DT. He had a nice block on DT's TD, and other good pushes on the run.

He did look athletic and a good fit. I don't know that he's ready yet. If he plays vs Caroline, we will know MUCH more. Either way he did look good. Nice to see a Guard who can pull.

Post game, when asked about Brenner and Garner moving to center, Philbin said the OL did a good job, a good bunch of guys, keep working, keep their mouth shut, and did some good things. Wonder what he was thinking when he said "keep their mouth shut?"

Sometimes, all you have to do is be steady. Dont be lost. Mckinney looked to be coaching him on one play at the LOS.

Odd isnt it? A guy who got here 3 weeks ago is schooling a rook who was here in preseason.

He is the Shane Falco of the OL. Guy played like there is no tomorrow because for him there might not be. Love it- love that fire.

Would love to hear from the OL gurus about his play, looked serviceable but a good team will exploit any weaknesses once they see tape.

That it is. I don't want to overdo it on one game vs SD but, I did enjoy seeing a guard who can pull, been years since I've seen one.

You actually take note of the exact time? The exact time when someone even farts? Either you need a job or you got one.

Oh.....At 15:10 I beat meat!

he's got a DVR....and you may have some problems.

I thought Brenner showed some good movement and competitiveness. He seems vulnerable to being overpowered at times. He is someone to keep working with over time to see how he develops as he gets stronger.

It was interesting that he got the start over Danny Watkins.

LOL. I record and watch every game at least twice, mostly to focus on the play of the Big Uglies. There's a number of posters who do the same, as you know. Today, I re-watched early, and listed the highlights and lowlights I saw to make it easy for others to take a look at without searching.

Gotta wonder why guys bother to post stuff like that, saying nothing.

I, for one, appreciate your work. Usually unbiased and straight forward.

I tried to watch him closely every down. Only saw him truly beat a couple of times. When he was signed to the roster I assumed it was just to have a backup center suited up. Even though he did well enough, what does it say about Watkins and Thomas that we started him?

Here's Brenner's pre-draft run down.

Every mother, father, coach, teammate and fan dreads seeing a player lying still on the field at the conclusion of a play. Brenner spent nearly 15 minutes on the ground, motionless with a neck injury, during the third quarter of the 2011 season-ending home game against Colorado; to the relief of all of those watching, he showed enough movement while being loaded into an ambulance to take paralysis out of the equation. Thankfully, there was no major damage, and his already well-known toughness allowed him to suit up for the team's Sun Bowl win over Georgia Tech five weeks later.

Part of his run down.
