Samson Satele?

Do you believe Satele can cut this time around in the East?

His first go around, was less than stellar. Wilfork I'm sure is looking forward to such an acquisition in the division.

His first go around was better than the revolving door of linemen we had that followed, where Sparano rebuilt the line in a worse fashion than before every single year.

Wilfork and any AFC East D-lineman would love it if we signed Satele. He was Vince's personal punching bag when we played the Pats. He abused Samson like a rented mule.

so let me see, you dont trust philbins judgment, but, you trust the judgement of benton and lazor, two guys philbin judged to be the correct replacements of sherman and turner.

something is a bit off with that.

You're right there is something a bit off with that ... And here it is, Philbin may have chosen to add Benton and Lazor or he may have been told to add Benton and Lazor. We don't really know for sure, but we do know for sure he chose Sherman and Turner, do we not? We also know he would not have replaced Sherman had the decision been completely his to make, based on his own comments.

We also know that Philbin, Sherman and Turner were part of the decision making team -- including Ireland -- that brought us last years' o-line. I would take from this that, with two new coaches and a new GM, (that I forgot to mention in my original post), it's logical to have faith that fresh blood, having a fresh perspective and knowing the disaster of last years' mistakes, would be hell bent on not going down the same path. Why would they? I would also argue that Lazor, Benton and of course Hickey combined are in a position to at the very least, highly influence Philbins' decision making - which I'm sorry, I simply do not trust at this point in his tenure.

But that's just me.

They are going to love Shelly Smith snapping the ball over Tannehill's head even more!!!!

We know this how? What we know is Philbin wanted to cut a decent cornfed with a relatively big salary after an alleged sexual assault. Didn't happen. We know that Philbin wanted to trade for Albert and do God knows what with Martin after trying to kill himself. Didn't happen.

So I don't know what your definition of decision making is or how you conclude it was a team effort but I can confidently say the o-line would have looked a helluva lot different had Philbin had any decision making power whatsoever.

To be fair, Wilfork has torn through a ****load of C's in the league.

However, in the four starts that Satele had vs. the Pats in 07 and 08, the team had the following rushing stats…

07 Game 1: 179 yards/6.0
07 Game 2: 108 yards/4.9
08 Game 1: 216 yards/6.0 (Wildcat Unveiling)
08 Game 2: 66 yards/3.7

Those are some productive run numbers with Satele snapping the ball.

I am not making Satele to be Mike Webster, it is the fact that he fits a ZBS, can ID a defensive front and snap the damn ball.

So Philbin gets credit for the bad hires but not the good ones?

S. Smith with FOUR botched snaps today. FOUR. Doubt most centers have four in a season. This is VERY concerning.

Exactly. I bet he dfoesn't even make the team. Just bring in Satele and fix this damn problem already.

This is what's so frustrating with this team. Why can't they address problems on the fly? Just make the damn move so this embarrassment ends!

We dont know that....pure speculation.

I would bring him in. He could learn the offense fast and snap the damn ball. Plus, Smith could go to RG which is a better position for him than C. I think line could at least be somewhat serviceable.

Miami Dolphins Football somewhat serviceable since 1999.

Fins will sign a center within the next 48 hours. This mornings practice was an embarrassment for an NFL franchise. Starting Center looks lost and in way over his head with a position he has never played before. Back-up center gets hurt unfortunately. It becomes a wasted day and in the NFL you can't waste practices, especially the select few you are allowed to have in pads.

Garner got hurt?
