Schein: Ross is clueless and Miami has the worst quarterback corps in the league

team vs. individual. a team wins it they are elite but that doesn't make every individual elite. Eli doesn't have a single elite seaso undre his belt, how is he an elite QB? I want that explanation? No one can answer that.

Eli has had 3 straight 4000+ yard seasons. Other then that what I would say makes Eli Elite is in the post season he always comes up with the big play. Turn up the pressure and Eli is clutch! He doesn't get rattled even when he throws a pick he will come right back out firing. Very few QBs doing it better the Eli in the post season right now.

4,000 yds makes a QB elite? in those 3 4,000 yd seasons he's thrown 55 INts and led his team to the playoffs just once.

His '07 and '11 postseasons give him something to bank on as far as being elite, no doubt he played really well in those 2 postseasons but 2 postseasons of elitel level play in 8 total seasons played doesn't make a player elite.

right now no one is doing it better in the postseason based on his last postseason but remember that was his first postseason in 3 years(was terrible against philly in '09 postseason) and he only has postseason wins in those 2 SB runs so 6 of his other 8 seasons he either didn't make the playoffs('04, '09, '10) or was one and done('05, '06, '08).

2-time Super Bowl MVP. 2 Pro Bowls. 2 Super Bowl rings. Need more?

I am automating most of my delusion-busters for the sake of efficiency. But the readers digest version is to that to claim a team luckily played a dead one and then a choking one for a 2 game winning streak who didn't deserve to be in the postseason at all, as part of an "elite run" is akin to claiming that Britney Spears is Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand type of diva.

Now if you want to make a claim that a particular team is elite based on a comparably short body of work but with a whole lot more success, it would be the team that out of a league of 30 teams has in the last 2 years won a total of 26 post season games(and counting) and has reached the equivalent of the Superbowl two straight years - The Miami Heat. absolutely, let's look at the elite QBs:

Eli: 2 SB MVPs, 2 SB wins, 2 SB apps, 2 PBs, 5 playoff apps(in 8 seasons)

Brady: 2 SB MVP's, 3 SB wins, 5 SB apps, 2 league MVPs, 7 PBs, 2 time All pro, 2 time offensive POY, 9 playoff apps(in 10 seasons),
Peyton: 1 SB MVP, 1 SB win, 2 SB apps, 11 PBs, 4 league MVPs, 5 time all pro, 1 time offensive POY. 11 playoff apps
Brees: 1 SB MVP, 1 SB win, 1 SB app, 6 PBs, 1 time AP, 1, 3 playoff apps(he's only started 4 seasons), 5 PO apps(10 seasons)
ben: 2 SB wins, 3 SB apps, 2 PBs, 6 playoff apps(in 8 seasons)

The only one he really compares to is ben but Ben has more playoff apps and more SB apps. Eli doesn't even have an all pro appearance.

Brady, P. Manning, and Brees have played either 2 or 3 additional seasons more than Eli Manning has. No sense in comparing players who haven't been given the same amount of time to play. Even with that, Eli Manning has 1 more SB win than Peyton and Brees.

As for Roethlisberger, yeah the guy has 1 more playoff/Super Bowl appearance than Eli Manning does. 2 SB wins are equal. Don't see the huge difference you do.

he's had better teams than Brees and his D shut down opposing offenses, you can't say that about the NO D.

I think he's fairly close to ben but more playoff apps, less one and dones and more SB apps push ben ahead.

IF Eli plays at a high level going forward he'll be elite, he has a leg up w/ the SB MVPs but he has to put together elite full seasons which he has never done.

You admit he has a leg up in Super Bowl MVPs but that isn't enough. He needs continuous so-called elite seasons to be elite. Natch.

yes, the problem is he hasn't had any elite full seasons. if he even had one I'd bend a little but in my opinion he's not elite. You have to play at a high level the majority of the time, he has risen up in the '07 and '11 potseasons and played like an elite QB but what aboutt he 8 reg seasons and 3 other postseasons?

Have we all forgotten that this is a team game? Eli has made the best of the opportunities that he was given with the players that surrounded him. You can be the best player in the league at your position and still not get a chance in the playoffs if you play for a lousy team. As much as I think Dan Marino was the greatest player to ever play QB, he never won a ring and it was because the teams that surrounded him were not elite. Make Jerry Rice play his career with Chad Henne as his QB and he isn't in the hall of fame. It is the combination of a player's talent and the team that surrounds him that makes him "elite".

The very idea that you're comparing him to other elite QBs is what makes him elite, and on their level.

He fell 67 yards short of a 5000 yard passing season this past year? How is that not an elite full season?

jerry Rice's #s wouldn't be the same but he'd have been a HOfer w/ you or I throwing the ball to him.

Is it a team game but the best guys elevate the play of those around them, Marino made Miami an AFC contender many years when they had average talent.

led team to 9-7 record in weak division, threw 29 TDs and 16 INTs. Yards do not make a QB elite, in what world is 29 TDs and 16 INts elite? Again, Sanchez had 26 and 18 and led his team to 8 wins so if Eli is elite Sanchez must be in that next group?

Eli has never had a full season that was elite.

Along with those nearly 5000 yards passing, to go with those 29 TDs(all of which you readily dismiss), he led a top 5 NFL offense(both passing and total offense). What more evidence do you need?
