Sean Payton Suspended For Year - Can We Finagle Brees Out of Them?

exactly Goodell does not treat every team or every player equal

I do agree, seems like the Pats get a slap on the wrist for Spygate compared to this. Only thing I can assume is because it's player safety related. Anyone who follows Goodell knows that's his thing, shouldn't be a surprise.

If The DOlphins pulls of a Brees Deal I will crawl from California all the way to David and Kiss Irelands A@s!

The main reason for the severity here is that the league had specifically warned the Saints about this in 2009, and the team apparently ignored it.

The Pats lost a 1st round pick in Spy Gate. And lets be real here, you cant seriously expect the punishments for video taping a walkthrough to be the same as intentionally injuring people.

Jon Vilma and the other players involved better prepare their buttholes.

They did deserve a punishment. I'm just saying that if you use SpyGate as a govenor of how punishment should be administered . The Saints were royally screwed.

This, especially when the commissioner has made player safety the top priority since he took over.

I agree. I think the league should take the Saints first rounder this year too.

I know the Saints traded it (forget where) but I say tough **** to whatever team got it.

Let me put it this way. How can anyone prove that the Pats cheated the Rams out of a Superbowl? It very well might have happened, but good luck proving that from a grainy videotape.

Now imagine Favre broke his neck during the whole bounty thing. He could sue the NFL for millions, since they were negligent in investigating a potential bounty program.

Bounty programs are a far greater risk to the integrity of the NFL than Spygate. That's my opinion.

Note to NFL teams if you have a bounty program this might be a good time to cancel it.

Any one else find the timing of this leak with the timing of the Saints franchising Brees as interesting? :err:

i have a feeling a similar hit program has been going on in pittsburgh too.

The Browns are the team that comes to my mind. I've seen them have plenty of really nasty, obvious, personal fouls the past few years.

Especially when they play divisional teams.
