Slim Reaper comes in at 6’ and 166 pounds.

Do you have any second thoughts/reservations about drafting 'The Slim Reaper' when he's 166lbs?

It doesn't make me hesitant at all.

The fact is in the NFL hardly anyone is ever hurt from being hit too hard. It has to do with awkward angles and bad luck more than anything.

The absolute worst concern anyone might have is whether or not he can beat the press off the line.

Its not the one single hit you worry about. It’s the build up.

It is data that directly showed how players drafted with similar size fared at the next level.

If you want to say many sucked to begin with, I'll go along with that.

If you want to say Smith is so "special" that he will definitely overcome his physical shortcomings, my response is maybe, but not likely.

It is far more likely he is a middling reciever, than elite.

If you are saying you are willing to take the risk, we just disagree.

If you are saying there is no risk, and nothing at all to be concerned about, I would say your judgement is suspect.

Like I’ve stated. 166 gives me pause too. But this data is useless my dude. Comparing receivers that don’t have his skill level.

If you want to show data about how guys below 170 don’t last long in the NFL because of injury. That is something I can understand.

The above data. Useless.

Almost all concussions are a direct result of being hit too hard on the head, hence all the rule changes in an attempt to enhance player safety.

Please explain how 10 extra pounds of body muscle would protect his head from a concussion.

I'm talking about actual injuries not cheap shots. Concussions fall into the category I already spoke of anyway, awkward hits.

I never said weight had anything to do with sustaining a concussion.

I was simply pointing out that a concussion is a direct result of a hard hit after you said "hardly anyone is ever hurt from being hit too hard" which is absurd...

Grant also plays on Special Teams where people are building up 40 to 50 yards of steam before attempting to dislodge his head from his body.

Those types of hits RARELY happen at WR. I can't even recall the last massive hit on a WR I've seen that wasn't illegal targeting to the head by a safety or a reverse.
Yeah I just think about the jump to the NFL and the velocity and power of tackling by defenders. Kid is special though. I think he's the one to take.

I looked it up, it's called the 1720 club.

It was in the middle of a freaking war zone. Their web site calls it 'the warehouse district'. LOL
Heh, yeah you don't get out of your car around there. Lots of cutting edge art installations, and small house and tiny club music of all genres on the fringes of skid row these days - but the fringes are different from the mess in the middle.

Made a $25 prop bet that Slim Reaper goes top 10. I’m really starting to think if Miami doesn’t take him then he could realistically fall out of the top 10

I've thought so all along, but it only takes one gm to fall in love with him, so I'd put the likelihood at 50/50.

Detroit needs a WR... but they need a lot of things.

Problem is the online sportsbook are suggesting that Chase is the only reciever realistically that's getting drafted top 10. Waddle/Smith are in that 11-16 range.

The thing that's really bugging me is Jones going #3 overall to the 49ers. Mac Jones! Wow..essentially costing the 49ers 3 1st rounders AND a 3rd. That's craziness!

This type of data makes clueless posters point and say “See! Told ya we shouldn’t pick him”.

This type of data also positions Smith next to the 170 pound receiver that had 13 catches his senior season. So saying this data means something to you says all I need to know 😂
All you need to know...is not one...not any...zero...receivers under 175 pounds excelled in the NFL in the last 20 years!

And your suggesting it’s ok to spend two first rounders on a receiver at 166 pounds...that refused to physically test?

I've gone back and forth about which guy I want several times this draft season. Between reading opinions or mocks, and discussing with friends, I've changed my mind a few times.

But whenever I go back and watch the actual play on the field, I'm back on the Smith bandwagon. He is just so impressive on the field, I can't help but want to see him in a Phins uniform more than any other prospect in this draft. I really hope the Phins don't pass on him because of his weight. I suspect in the future, doing so will be seen as a major blunder.
