I think 8 wins is realistic.....We have a very tough schedule and the AFC is much tougher than the NFC so a playoff shot is iffy, but we should be much better than 4-12. I'm optimistic. :)

The talent level in both coaching and playing ought to be enough to do something special. A few things go our way and I fully expect that 10 to 12 wins and a shot at the division title. To me, in today's NFL these expectations/hopes are not only realistic, but in-built into the new salary cap league. We are not talking about an organization that has been a perenial loser, just the opposite is true. We have the entire infra-structure for greatness now we just need to have some good things happen, get a couple of breaks and the sky is the limit.
8-9 thats to many gms.:goof:kebort said:people believe 8-9 becuz we have a new coach, who will be great, and becuz we were 4-12 last year, everyone knows that we have great potential to be a 10 win team but 8 i think is what most everyone expects

We've got a new coach, new system, some new players. It takes times to adjust. Anyone who really thinks we can get far isn't living in the real world!! I guess anything's possible, but I seriously doubt that we'll be competitive this year. Why not accept the Dolphins for who they are. They will get to the championship eventually. Let's not put any unnecessary pressure on them!!:yell:

The Chargers had a great turn around last year and the Panthers did it a few years back but both had coaches that were in, at least there 2nd year. I believe if things continue the way they are going we could be that team NEXT year but not this one. There is just too many things that would have to happen. We have major questions at QB, OL, DB, SS and DT. I personally think the OL will be solid, and baring injury DT, could be ok. QB is a 50/50 deal with AJ and teams can win without great DBs and saftey can be covered with great DL play, but for all of that to happen in one year with as many great teams in the AFC is a little too much to ask for.
Could it all happen, yes and I could win the lottery also, but I wouldn't go around bragging about the fact that I am probably going to be the next power ball winner. The odds are against us and I won't get my hopes up when the odds are against it happening. That does not make me a less of a fan, it just shows I have a sense of reality. I love the Dolphins and will hurt after every loss and will go nuts if it all falls into place and we DO go to the playoffs, but I can also get excited about heading in the right direction. And I REALLY believe we are.
As for what I predict?? I would be disappointed if we didn't improve to at least 6-10, even with the tougher schedule. I would not at all be surprised by 8-8. However anything above that I feel is gravy. IMO
Very nice post. I agree completely.TARHEEL38 said:I wonder what all you guys would think if you went to a 49ers message board and they were saying they were going to the playoffs?? We are looked at from other NFL fans as being in there league. By us being fans we sometimes lose perspective.

This is definately a matter of debate.pwn3dyo said:I think we could be a superbowl contender this season. Yes, i am serious.
Alot of people think David Boston is a headcase, and forget how much potential the man really has. He is up there with TO/Randy Moss pure talent wise. He only agreed to a one year-vets minimum to show the NFL what a talent he is, so he can get his stock up. Last season in training camp i only heard positives about this guy. If Boston lives up to his potential we will be a VERY scary team.
Alot of people are also forgeting about Ricky Williams, the man who led the NFL in rushing behind the worst O-line in the league. If Ricky returns to his old self which isn't out of the question. He's given it 110% whenever he put on that uniform. He also has social anxiety, his WORST fear is to average 2 ypc for the dolphins and be the laughing stock of the NFL. If Ricky returns, does well, the media will portrey him as a man who had a drug problem, overcame it and came back to football. I think he doesn't like his image and wants to improve it. He knows more about his body then he did a year ago, taking a year off of football could make him a better player. A ricky williams/ronnie brown combo would be deadly.
the offensive line is also a big question mark. We now have the best O-line coach in the league and have Stocker Mcdougle. If hudson houck can make our o-line average we will be very deadly.
I think we could go 14-2 in 2005, or go 6-10. I think we have potential though.
