Some Draft Thoughts After Looking at Some Early Mock Drafts

Roquan Smith all the way imo... I certainly wouldn't be upset with Nelson although I just can't see this FO valuing that position so highly.

The Dolphins have been needing a linebacker like Smith for a long, long time. Oakland could be his landing spot, but if he's there that would be the player I want.

I say draft a DE you can never have enough quality DLinemen, that a big reason the Giants won their super bowls.

Someone who I think will move up a lot is Taven Bryan. Top 11 may be a bit rich, though.

Top ten
1st -Cleveland- Josh Rosen
2nd- New York- Josh Allen
3rd- Indy- Saquon Barkley
4th- Cleveland-Arden Key
5th- TB- Bradley Chubb
6th- Den- Josh Rosen
7th- NYJ- Baker Mayfield
8th- SF- Calvin Ridley
9th-CHI-Minkah Fitzpatrick
10th- CIN- Quentin Nelson

A lot of this depends on who gets hired as coaches as well. A change in philosophy can alter it dramatically.

Just my thoughts.

Nice list. I think 49ers will take Sutton. Also, my guess is that Key slides out of top 15.

I think Key is the biggest wildcard of the whole bunch if he gets past 10 he is going to slide pretty far but he wont get past Washington at 14 their D is atrocious and have zero pass rush it would be a perfect fit.

Rosen gets drafted twice?

Honestly, I think it should be a no brainer for Cleveland to draft Rosen, but Rosen is apparently the rare college football player who is smart enough to realize that he holds all the cards here and can simply go back to school for a year if the Browns draft him. I don't know what the Browns are going to do. Maybe trade the 1st pick for a bounty?

Sorry it doesn’t work that way...... If you declare yourself for the draft:

The deadline for underclassmen, sophomores and juniors, to declare themselves eligible for the NFL draft is in January. Once a player declares for the draft, they forego their remaining eligibility to play college football, which means that once they declare for the draft they cannot return to play in college.

UNLESS you are talking about him deciding to go back to school (if he has an inkling he won’t be taken first overall by Cleveland) BEFORE he declares?

Or did they change the rules again?

Players can return to school after declaring eligible for the draft as long as they don't hire an agent. Hiring an agent is what makes you ineligible to return to school.

Thanks Ted,,,,,,it’s hard keeping track of all these eligibility rules, especially with the NBA also making changes every other year.

With his injury history, is it wishful thinking that he makes it to round three?

In a draft this deep at RB, anything is possible. Even Nick Chubb's injury history and subsequent recovery are a direct parallel to Frank Gore. Also there's the similarity of him playing behind a stud RB (Todd Gurley a couple years ago), like Gore did with Willis McGahee and Clinton Portis.

50 Kameron Kelly CB 0 San Diego State Sr 6-2 195

This is the first time I've seen Kameron Kelly listed in a top 150. Been hyping him for months - long, physical CB, with good ball skills, and he hits like a SS. I have him in the 2nd/3rd range, and he's currently my favorite Sr CB. Tests are important for the position, so he could rise or fall from there, but no doubt that he can play, and, given his limited time at the position, he's just getting better.

Sony Michel is impressive. I'd heard for awhile how deep this RB class will be, saw it first hard with Georgia's two backs. Michel looks more explosive than Chubb.

Baker Mayfield was under constant pressure last night but none of it was coming from his blind side. Orlando Brown Jr. was probably OU's best offensive player yesterday and Georgia brought the house the entire 2nd half.
