Sports Buzz- Pats asked Thigpen for hand signals/ More Harbaugh talk

Mike Tannenbaum being part of the selection process makes me like Joe more.

It is my biggest fear of this whole offseason Shebang.

Tannenbaum and Matt Higgins.
These two were the generals of one of the worst NFL franchises(NY Jets). What the heck makes them credible to "advise" our operation.

I am legitemately worried that I will wake up one morning and Rex Ryan will be our coach.

A guy who has actually been to the playoff and won would be my preference if they replace Joe.
A SB winning coach would be icing on the cake.

Super Bowl winning defensive coach? :idk:

I kid. Kinda.

I see Lazor and Quinn as two very up and coming coaches and excellent at what they do in their respective fields. Joe has my full support until otherwise noted by the organization.

Here is what is funny. I think Rex is a heck of a coach. Match him with Bill Lazor and you got something. Rex talks too much, but he gives an intellectual advantage.

This is the kicker though...I think Tannenbaum and Higgins do NOT like Rex. I still think Tannenbaum blames Ryan for getting booted in NY. It is a different generation of Jets.

I got a hand signal for the Pats:

My thoughts exactly!

Rex is a heck of a defensive mind, whose player friendly approach breeds loyalty.
He is however an extremely flawed head coach.
His loose ship leads to mental lapses. To games where things completely fall apart(just like yesterday). Yesterdays game is a fixture in the Rex Ryan NYJ.

Who cares if he can get the players to rally and win one for Rex(like the Miami game last year) where their lack of attention to detail and focus lead them to lose the three game prior to that.

His complete ignorance of the offensive side of the ball have lead the jets to what they are today.
We are in year seven of the Rex Ryan regime and he has his worst offense yet. At some point Rex has to be accountable to that.
Rex hasnt spent a first round pick on offense since Mark Sanchez.

Hayden you are such a smart poster I it is baffling that you cant see that.

No **** the Patriots try to gain intel by signing former Dolphins players right before the teams play. Call it smart, call it tactful. It's hysterical NE got their asses kicked anyway.

I call it unethical but to each their own. What Belichick is doing is forcing the league to do something else to curb this behavior, which is going to hurt teams or players that would have signed with an upcoming opponent but for coincidental legitimate reasons. Belichick doesn't give a rats ass about making things difficult for everybody else so long as he benefits.

Its no different than if a team tanks to get a surefire QB in the draft, everything is fine as is but if just one team decides ethics are for the birds then it all has to be changed.

Now we have to worry about Tannenfraud pitching his clients to Ross as HC candidates. Ugh, this franchise...

How much of Rex's issues are on him vs. John Idzik's (and Mike Tannenbaum)?

Well the undisciplined play and mental lapses are one hundred percent on Rex.

The lack of a unified mission on what they want to do on offense. Rex should take some of the blame for that too. Last I checked he was the Head Coach not the Defensive Coordinator. The turnstile of O coordinators doesn't help either.

His GM's may not be helping him but at the end of the day Rex needs to migrate back to where he belongs as a top notch Defensive Coordinator.

I agree about the undisciplined play and penalties. Cannot defend.

Either way we are in agreement that the Jets are a terribly run organization and there is no way we need to be poaching executives from them.

Rex Ryan and Joe Philbin are on the same tier, which is they are both decent coaches, very different styles mind you, and both would win championships with the right QB. I would put Pete Carroll and Tom Coughlin on that same tier too as examples of what they both could do with the right QB.

I have done a complete 180 on Pete Carroll. I used to not think much of him, but the more I read about how he transformed the seahawks. I am a believer.
He has an incredibly innovative vision of what an NFL team is supposed to be.

I don't think he could have cultivated that without his highly successful growth period at USC.

Putting Philbin on the same level as Rex is absurd. He went to back to back championship games with Mark fricken Sanchez at QB.

As average as Tannehill has been in his career, he has never been as bad as Sanchez.

If Philbin had Sanchez at QB the past 2 years the Dolphins wouldn't have had a record higher than 5-11...

Who gives a rats ass about Rex Ryan or John Idzik. Neither one of them will ever be working for the Miami Dolphins.
