Still missing Lamar Miller?

All about the offensive line. Miller would probably be doing similar things behind a healthy Oline. hat being said, Rbs dime a dozen

I think those of you who are saying we should've kept Miller are (sorry) a bit delusional. Ask yourself:

- Would our running game be better (as in $6M better) with Miller right now? (A: No)
- Would having to share carries between Miller, Ajayi and Williams create dissension and/or a RB controversy? (A: Probably, just like last year only bigger because we'd have to justify the $6M price tag for Miller, and so Ajayi would get limited snaps)
- Would having Miller as the $6M starter slow Ajayi's development? (A: Yes)
- Would Miller have done better than Ajayi right now? (A: I doubt it)
- Is it good to have depth and a change of pace at the RB position? (A: Yes, but not if it's going to cost $6M)

I mean the jury is still out, but right now the decision to let Miller go actually looks like a great one, one of the few Tannenbaum has gotten right. Credit where credit is due.

We can make assumptions on whether or not the running game would be better. Pretty easy to speculate one way or the other.

I highly doubt there would be controversy and Williams really isn't even in the equation. The guy barely gets the ball now and that's with a rookie that has about 10 snaps on offense all year, a veteran RB that just quit and we started the season with 4 RBs on the roster.

Miller being here would not have slowed Ajayi's development. Lets not forget Ajayi didn't even travel with the team to Seattle when he was benched in favor of Foster. As soon as Ajayi showed he can be a factor in a game Gase would have continued to call his number. I think Gase knows who has the hot hand as a play caller. Lets not forget that Gase also wanted the Dolphins to re-sign Miller.

Again we can speculate on who would be doing what between Ajayi and Miller...we can also speculate that they would have made each other better. Gase, and any coach, will tell you competition is good and brings out the best in players.

Tannenbaum's shrewd move only proves he's more lucky than good. While he will most likely get a 4th round comp pick for letting Miller walk...he banked on that when he used next years 4th (along with the 3rd) to move up and get Leonte Carroo. You know the guy...he has 2 receptions on the season for 14 yards. While over in Tennessee Rishard Matthews has 23 receptions for 319 yards and 2 TDs...a guy that has chemistry...excuse me, had chemistry with Ryan Tannehill.

That's another factor...we keep Miller and Rishard then there no RB drafted in the 3rd and no trade up mortgaging future picks for a WR....2 picks this year and 2 pick next year that could have been used to get younger and better in the draft and rebuild an aging defense.

Yep. The opportunity to have two top RBs with different running styles complementing each other? Able to throw multiple looks at defenses? Able to not completely rely on one back with a history of knee problems? Golly, sounds terrible.

We're doing that same thing with Ajayi and Williams. And it's costing us much less to do it. I never thought Miller was that good of a back, rarely broke tackles and\or made people miss in the open field. He was not worth 5.5 mill dollars.

i dont miss him at all, the last two weeks aside I would have been looking forward to a nice RB draft class. now we know that with the Oline being pretty good and Ajayi running with like a Train..no pun intended we are pretty damn set at that position. Miller can rott with Osweiler

I wanted to say this but all the "keep UM players in Miami" people would have killed me. he isnt that good. I know Houston fans are already tired of him running into linemen.

Fournette would be the exact back NOT to draft for this offense.

I think Fournette would be a great back in any offense. Like most talented backs all he needs is decent blocking, good health and a steady supply of carries.

you cant be serious. about that. Miller being here would have automatically meant less carries for Ajayi, thats just facts. if he Jay breaks one or two for 10 or 12 yards it still doesnt justify stopping a time share. Why we feel the way we do about Jay is because he has gottent he lion share and has worn down the Defense both weeks.

Sure, I miss Lamar Miller. But after watching the game in Denver last night, it made me appreciate Ajayi's ability to break tackles even more.

if ajayi proves to be the real deal moving forward, i won't be missing lamar miller...and i was clamoring for us to sign him when he left...but in the end hindsight is 20/20....no i don't think we'd need a backfield with miller and ajayi, and i don't think ajayi would be seeing much action at all or have the same impact if miller was lining up too...

You mean like Foster being here would automatically mean less carries for Ajayi?
