It's not just that you're moving on from Suh and Landry. It's that you lack coherency. Tannenbaum himself signed Suh, and circumstances did not change. You got the player everybody expected. There was no change in Suh's play that would make you think you need to change course.
Then you have all the draft picks that don't get extended. Ideally, you're drafting a team to have a core and then you build that core, cross off holes and narrow the weaknesses over time. Miami is the complete opposite of that. They have extended only Pouncey and Tannehill from the team's own draft classes. Everyone else - they let leave. That's not coherent.
If you know about the VIX, I'd say Miami's VIX right now is really high. I am sure in a day or two we will hear about a free agent or two that makes people happy and spirits will soar and then decline again when Tannehill gets moved.
For there to be true success in my opinion, you need a long range plan, and then you stick to the plan unless some circumstance warrants an adjustment. The plan would include Excels of salary cap hits by position over five years. I am sure Miami has such things, but they are not carrying it out properly. There will be no success until you stop running around like a chicken with its head cut off.
