**Super Thread** Clowney/Tunsil Trade Rumor (merged too many times)

What I'm holding on to is Flores apparently met with him so he must have a read on what Clowney wants. I am trusting Flores to do what he believes is right here.

This.

Flores has to make a decision of who Clowney is, if he looks like he will be coming with a "Just pay me the money" type attitude, or a "I want no part of Miami" attitude, then just walk away.

Not when your getting an under achieving, injury prone, money hungry player in return and the player you're giving up is still ascending.

Clowney is all about the money and overrated. He hardly played his junior year in college so he can make money in the NFL. Least I hope that's true because he had a whopping 3 sacks that year. This would be a total dolphins move.

Which player do you think I'm referring to that we'd be giving up?

They explained their new philosophy when Grier got the job... Build through the draft, dont spend on big name FAs. What do you know, the first big name to pop out, Fins are in the lead for his services... You cant make this **** up...

Any duffus with cap space can aquire FAs, the point is having Clowney type players on rookie contracts, not aquiring them when they're about to break the bank...
This makes no sense. Are we talking about spending big on a 29 year old player because we need him to make a playoff push? No. We're talking about signing a 26 year old 3 time Pro Bowler who apparently fits our scheme to a T and gives us the physicality up front that we've been missing from our DEs for years at a premier position.

Should we let Tunsil walk because he's going to be around the same age when we give him a big contract too? No? So what's the difference? Because we drafted one with one of our picks and traded for the other with one of our picks? There is NO difference.

Why would we trade a elite left tackle, the only one not a revolving door on the sorry excuse for an o-line we have? A franchise cornerstone who we can build off. The guy we will need to protect the blindside of our qb...for a defensive player, even if he is really good, with injury issues?

Would this not be filling a hole in our defense, while making a gigantic hole at one of the two most difficult positions to fill in all of football?

We are not trading Tunsil....been reported over and over.

Tunsil isn't in play so don't worry.

If Tunsil is off the table I'm happy with it

Also makes me happy about my Ballage draft pick late.

We've been doing much better since Flores came aboard. We've been running lean and smart. We got many picks and some major cash. It's like anything else, what's the price tag? What do we give up to acquire this asset? I wouldn't trade Drake, imo he's a huge part of this team. The Miami Miracle was an awesome play and Drake was amazing. He's a rare player who imo is very underrated on this board. One guy said start Laird and trade Drake!!! Can we pump the brakes on Laird?? Unless we trade Drake, which would be moronic, or Tunsil or a couple of other untouchables we have to look hard at acquiring high level talent. I'm against this deal but if they'll take a soft deal like Stills and a 5th it might be ok. I know Flores met with Clowney, that's the reason it might be ok. My instinct is that these larger than life players like AB and Bell really do infect the locker room. Keep prima donnas out.

I get the sense that Drake is one of your favorite players but a running back like him is a dime a dozen & Drake personally not essential for us to succeed. He's a free agent at the end of the season so it's the perfect time to jettison him for value. And if we're doing this rebuild thing the Patriot way he won't be resigned. They rotate their RBs when their contracts expire & keep their salaries at the position low.

IF the front office is "secretly" tanking for Tua, they may feel that Tunsil is expendable since he wouldn't be protecting his blindside.

That would be very risky in my opinion.

Why would we trade for a 1 year rental, on a team that's going to suck? This is the type of move you make if you're close.
