**Super Thread** Clowney/Tunsil Trade Rumor (merged too many times)

For what its worth the Rumor I heard was Drake and a 2nd for Clowney

Stills to Seattle for Rashad Penny...

Again # *&$*^%&^ in the Rumor mill

That second trade doesn't seem to make much sense for Seattle. Getting rid of a RB they just spent a 1st round pick on a rookie contract for a below average overpaid speed receiver that is only capable of running the same route as DK Metcalf. I would jump all over this.

Why would we trade a elite left tackle, the only one not a revolving door on the sorry excuse for an o-line we have? A franchise cornerstone who we can build off. The guy we will need to protect the blindside of our qb...for a defensive player, even if he is really good, with injury issues?

Would this not be filling a hole in our defense, while making a gigantic hole at one of the two most difficult positions to fill in all of football?
Tunsil's reported to be off the board... cuz trading a young rising star at a critical position on a rookie contract for a 1 year disgruntled edge rusher is so ponderous, it would make my head explode!

I don't know how disgruntled he is, but I'm fairly sure he will end up in Seattle, Philadelphia (or some other team), sign a long term deal with them, and be wreaking havoc for five or eight years there.

Look, I follow the marlins too, so I'm used to watching generational hof talent being traded for peanuts...yeah. Its weird having a front office who are not the Heat who might not be absolute idiots.

Agreed.

A lot of people here will be disappointed I don't think this deal happens at all I could be wrong though

You mean someplace he actually wants to go instead of reluctantly being sent to by a vindictive O'Brien?

I like that we are exploring this. It would be incompetence not to. Fortunes change very quickly in the nfl. Having players like Clowney go a long way to changing them. Ship Stills, Drake and a 3rd round pick. None of those add up to anything close to Clowney.

IF the front office is "secretly" tanking for Tua, they may feel that Tunsil is expendable since he wouldn't be protecting his blindside.

That would be very risky in my opinion.

It's pretty obvious they are trying to improve the talent on the roster so I'd not worry about tanking strategy unless we are like 1-8, 1-9ish. Clearly you don't add Clowney to your roster with an eye of worsening your draft seeding.

People need to stop talking about Laremy Tunsil because the Dolphins already did.

He has to agree to his destination (or not sign the tender). I don't believe Vindictive O'Brien could send him anywhere he didn't want to go.

I think it's a positive the team is being proactive and trying to score a valuable asset for pennies on the dollar. If it doesn't happen, no big deal, he might be more receptive in a year if Josh Rosen has some success. We will still be able to afford him then without the draft pick compensation.

If we don't get him, no loss. Let's everyone else on the team now know we are trying to improve and no one better be complacent.
