**Super Thread** Clowney/Tunsil Trade Rumor (merged too many times)

Don’t forget fellas miamis probably gonna be real active in free agency next year so you guys need to stop counting comp picks.

Especially on the o line I’d expect us to be active. Lol we better
I'm not 100% sure about that. We will use FA next off season but I'm thinking sparingly. I truly feel our direction moving forward has changed regarding FA. I think our large contract extensions will be on our own players. Comp strat is here to stay. And I'm on board with that.

Meh, my care for the long run for this team died a long time ago. None of this matters until Miami get's a damn qb.

If Tua is their guy and he's legit then a LT becomes less significant.

That's the thing with a "good" LT and even better QB you can make things happen. But what's the point of having a "great" LT and your QB play is sub-par?
I don't want to trade Tunsil but the fact is you don't need a great LT to be in contention and eventually win a superbowl.
If that's the grading criteria then it must mean NE has the best LT ever and clearly that's not true.
Hell, I would go as far and say most of the previous SB winners have had decent to good LT's

The more I think about this, the more I separate Clowney and consider value.

It needs to be a Hershel walker type trade, and the assumptions need to be that:
1) Houston is drafting around 26
2) the team thinks they can replicate the Pats OL strategy and not invest $$$ in it

I mean, even at 2 x 1st. My value is two in 2020. So really we are talking 1-2020, 2-2020, 1-2021

I just can’t see Houston doing it. I wouldn’t let O’Brien do it if I were the owner.

What big name trade has worked out for the team getting the player in the NFL, besides Mack, in the last 20 years?

And that's the part we don't know yet. I don't want to use picks on a player that can leave after only one year.

Tell me how many comp picks the Pats get every year then rethink this

Yeah they rejected it, they don't wanna trade him, but if Houston keeps throwing assets at Miami in the form of first round picks you listen.

NE is a prime example if how they value LT. I don't think theyve ever had an elite level LT.

Finheaven: Where Josh Rosen is worth trading for but Jadeveon Clowney isn't.

Jadeveon Clowney could have a similar effect to our team like what Khalil Mack did to the Chicago Bears.

Can you imagine that pass rush with our secondary? Clowney is like a better Cam Wake in his prime, while Clowney possibly hasnt even hit his prime yet. Hopefully he will with us.

Even if we do not end up ultimately signing this guy, I am glad we are identifying possible candidates like Clowney.

Pass rush wins Championships.
Ask the Ravens, the Giants, the Steelers, Seahawks, Eagles

Correct. 3 time Pro Bowler averaging 9 sacks/yr. Nuff said. If we get Clowney, a #1 and a player I say do it

Bingo.

2020 was always the plan. Tua and another 1st is money. Don't need a high paid LT when you have a lefty qb, Put more resources in the interior OL and RT. Hell pass rushers these days line up everywhere so even LT doesn't face the best week in and week out.
First of all, it just flips which side you need, and there's no reason why Tunsil couldn't flip to the right side if we draft a lefty QB. Second of all, there is no guarantee we get Tua. Tua could choose not to declare, he could have a bad year and his stock drop even within your own scouting department, someone could tank worse than us, he could get injured, etc. Structuring your team around a draft pick you don't even have yet is colossal stupidity, especially when doing so involves jettisoning a young franchise caliber player at the second most valuable position on the field.

The likely rejected their "first" offer as any sensible business person would. Also, a good buy always throws out their lowest offer to see if the other persons a sucker.
I'm betting they're will to toss in an additional 2nd round pick offer.

Miami isn't basing the plan on Tua, we are fans and that's what we do.

No, you don't move Tunsil to the right side, it's not as easy as 123 to do that and he may decline and then you have a disgruntled player. I also disagree that the LT is the second most valuable postion on the field. Pass Rushers are not just linning up on the right side of the defense anymore. They're everywhere and are even more disruptive. The 3 best pass rushers in the NFL line up on the inside and predominately over the RT. Hell our own Cam Wake never saw a LT.

I don't even think a 2nd is enough for Miami. (2) 1sts might be the magic potion.
