Swing and a miss! Ross tried to hire Jason Licht and was turned down

sources close to Licht and Miami have both said the reports of him being offered were inaccurate, but the Fins did contact him to tell him that he would have been a finalist

There will be a Darlington or Mando report that says this is not true and the Ross/Philbin supporters will be able to point to it.

Looks like your Mando report just came out, and I'm pointing to it.....laughing at everyone in this thread who was so sure we wanted to hire Licht and failed.

Ian Rapoport's credibility took a big hit with me.

Ummm, Mando's report doesn't really even refute it. The Dolphins still wanted to hire Licht, he was one of their finalists. Who knows if he was favored over Farmer or another candidate, but from Mando's reports he was one of the finalists for the job they wanted to interview this weekend.

Because of the long meandering process, they were turned down by one of their finalists in favor of another team that was more proactive in their search.

It really doesn't change the narrative all that much. Now the Dolphins are down to a "backup" finalist because Licht is gone.

So.....we are supposed to believe this Ian Rapoport?

You guys kill me, this whole thread is doom and gloom. And most of you are the first ones here killing every other journalist but when Ian tweets some crap you all go running to the hills:crazy:
Thanks for the entertainment guys!

I think you are confused.....Licht was a finalist. Thats doesnt mean he was offered the job as Ian Rapoport said in the OP. There is a HUGE difference between being invited to a 2nd round of interviews, and being offered the job. Completely bogus report by Rapoport.

Rapoport took a **** on the Fins, and you flies gobbled it right up.

Read the first post of the thread, then read the report Zounds was referring to. They say two completely different things, so yes, it does refute what was originally reported.

Rapoport took a dump on the Fins, and you flies gobbled it right up.

While it is slightly better, it is still troublesome. They lost out on one of their finalists who they MIGHT have ended up hiring if he passed the final round. But since the Dolphjns ran this long protracted disorganized search that left several candidates in the dark, they lost out on that opportunity.

If Licht fills the Buccs with talent and we are left with Spielman Jr., Ross can blame himself for losing the better candidate.

Yep. That was my theory the minute I read the tweet. It's just much easier to call Ross an idiot and go on about how he "struck out" again...

It changes some of the details of the initial report, but it doesn't change the narrative all that much. Bottom line, their disorganized approach left them down a candidate they coveted.

Think about it this way, if Licht WAS the top candidate, don't you think they really would have offered him the job right then and there? He was a front runner, but probably not their top guy. Move along...

So you'd rather they rush and hire the wrong guy? There are lots to choose from and Miami is now the only opening. Move away from the ledge.

Very few on this forum wanted Licht but because of an erroneous report we must all jump off the deep end.

Some of you need to take each story with a grain oh salt until it's verified.

Correction. He was asked if he would wait for 2nd interviews. He chose to take the TB job.

More Dolphins Dysfunction, Ian Rapoport is reporting that Ross tried to hire Licht after he became aware the Buccaneers were closing in on him. Licht rejected him.

Want to recant your rantings now due to the report out saying what you claimed turned out to be untrue or is that story bull****?
