Take the 19 Million and run ... straight to camp!

You should if everyone else in your office got a 20% pay raise and you only got 5%.

What if it wasn't in MY OFFICE like in RONNIE'S case????

Each team is it's own office.

Certain companies like certain teams, pay more. Certain companies like certain teams, pay less. Certain companies like certain teams, give bigger bonuses and better raises than others.

This concept never crossed your mind?

Huh? He's got like 5 players holding out (I think I heard on Rome Burning), TO just decided to report but was threatening to hold out.
name them

we should all be hating on Todd France. Drew got Ogunleye to sign and trade and we Got booker (a #1 receiver)

You're acting as though you believe players should not be allowed to hold out. Do you get this worked up when players get cut? They're both legitimate tactics the parties to these contracts are allowed to use.

Don't take it! Other Bills fans have been offered a 15-22% bump over that to leave! :rofl3:
I'll take it. It'll hurt my ego but I can live w/ it and drown my sorrows ......in Amsterdam :D.

If I had two players (say left tackles) graded the same, but one was repped by the Poston brothers, you'd better bet I'd go with the other one.

I have to imagine that it is almost never an issue, but I can imagine it coming up.

No two players are ever rated exactly the same. Someone always has a preference.

Back to the subject. I understand why there is a stand off. It is ridiculous that the market went up 20% when the salary cap went up what 5.7%. If we had another top three pick next (which we wont) we would put ourselfes back in a bad position.

They won't win. They'll realize they are being daft and will settle at around the 12-15% mark.

If you want to complain then tell your boss you should have 15% less then your other employees who do similar work becuase you want to be a "team player".

Sigh: you are comparing apples and oranges... he is negotiating with a future employer, not an employer he has any proven track record with. These "other" employees do different jobs at different companies...

Let me try to make this analogy valid...

This is like me interviewing for a company as a technical writer and DEMANDING 20% more than a C++ Developer got hired for at a DIFFERENT COMPANY a year earlier.

If you're a widgetsmith and *every* other widgetsmith gets a 20% raise, wouldn't you believe you should get one?

The NFL isn't really 32 businesses -- it's one business. The labor deal, for instance, is between the league and the union instead of between the Lions and the union.

You're comparing apples to oranges with 20% vs. 5.7%. I explained why it is the guaranteed money would need to increase -- signing bonuses can't be as much because they can only be pro-rated over 5 years instead of 6. Guaranteed money is in part just subbing in for that part of the signing bonus.

The first running back taken last year wasn't taken in the top 20. So that has no bearing on the #2 pick.

If the pick wouldve been for a KICKER would you agree to give a kicker this much GUARANTEED money????

As it is, one of the problems we have right now about moving A KICKER with such money on his contract is the guaranteed portion would KILL OUR CAP.

So we are stuck with him even if we could find someone available for less.

Or worse, you get a mediocre player and your paying him bigtime so now you cut him and have DEAD CAP money for years.

Teams need to be smart. ESPECIALLY with the cap only going up a small percentage each year and EVERYONE getting raises EACH YEAR.

But your right, lets give Ronnie all he wants GUARANTEED BEFORE he's ever taken one Pro snap.

Let's go crazy like some of these other dumb teams that pay the UNTESTED rookies and then when they dont have the ability to back it all up ..."Damn now our cap situation is really bad! We can't sign anyone worth while...now we have to dump good players to get cap room...more 4-12 seasons to come while we fix the cap..."

....oh well, right?

If this team took at kicker at #2, there would be far bigger fish to fry than what the kicker gets paid.

Oh really?

There isnt Any distinction?

HMMM I wonder why people always want to go to a team with an owner willing to PAY more then???

No, they are ALL there own separate entities. Though yes, to a point.

They share certain aspects of the business as they must to keep everything nice and in order and keep teams that aren't in the big markets afloat. But when you get down to it, they are all there own businesses.

The labor deal was approved buy the voting of the owners.

The owners have their own minds and can do what they want, pay what they want, thats why they are Owners.

If an owner doesnt feel like he needs to pay his RB's as much as a QB that's HIS decision as Owner.

Other than certain profit sharing due to TV contracts and whatnot, Wayne must pay out of his pocket the money to finance the team.

Art Modell isn't paying the Dolphins payroll I'll tell you that.

Thats the second round NOT the 2nd pick in the first round.

People, either the position matters or it doesnt.

If you say that Ronnie, a RB is entitled to such and such JUST BECAUSE he was the number 2 pick in the first round then why should it matter if your a kicker right?????
