Taking being a "FAN" too far

Maybe he was a jerk and only cared about the Steelers and this was his wife's way of getting even?

Either way, I don't think a dead guy knows what's gonna happen to him when he's dead, so maybe hes not quite the loser you think he is.....

He might be rolling over in his (recliner) grave, because of what they did to him.

LOL, yeah how do you know his casket didnt get the sunday ticket?? He wanted to be ready...

Interesting...
You think he was an Eagle fan?:nofly:

I don't think there's anything wrong with naming your kids after players or famous people. My sister is named after a famous actress from the 40s-50s. Nothing wrong with that. Within reason, that is. I had a friend in high school who's mom named all the kids after the Jacksons. His name was Jermaine. It was brutal.

But I think you'll find a lot of people on this board who named their kids after players (or are named after players). And I'd guess that, after family, most kids get their names from celebrities.

But I agree with on this guy. I mean, it's wierd enough to see a family member's body in a casket. It's pretty surreal, not to mention emotional. But to see him in a living room setting, proped up in a recliner....that's just scary. I'm picturing Abe Vigoda. I just hope they didn't have his eyes open.

When I die, I've gotten it written that I'm to be displayed in front of my computer with FinHeaven on the screen, my fingers on the keyboard, and wearing my FinHeaven gear.

:D

here he is....

A man in Pittsburgh who was a die-hard Steelers fan died recently. So, how did his wife have him displayed at the funeral home.

Get this.....

She had him put in a recliner with a steelers blanket over his lap. A night-stand next to him with a 6-pack of beer and cigs on it. And a remote control in his hand with a small TV across from him playing Steelers highlights from over the years.

That's hilarious!
:rofl3:

I'm sorry, the picture just re-enforces my opinion on this matter.

here's the story if you want to read it.

"He wanted to be at home in a surrounding with the things he liked to do," said Smith's widow, Denise. "I tried to do everything in the world to make it peaceful for him."

Family members and friends welcomed the arrangement.

"Everyone who knew him and loved him can always remember he was just at peace, sitting up there watching television, and he just went to sleep," Denise Smith said.

'nuff said.

To each his own I suppose, but, that is a little much. I have nothing against the guy or his family for their decision, but, personally, I see that as a bit odd. But hey, if that's the guys wishes.. so be it.. RIP

Now I consider myslef a Fins fan. I watch all the games. I buy merchandise. I go to games. But this is taking a "game" a little too far. People who name their kids after players. Or put their family second to "games". Or I dont' know.......when they die get laid out at a funeral home in this fashion are people who should be laughed at, mocked, and ridiculed. I've never seen a more perfect example of the word "LOSER" in my life!

I disagree a bit, sure it's unconventional, but if it's supposed to be a a celebration of the man's life, why not? Where is it written that viewings have to be done the exact same boring, depressing way for everyone on the planet? Just so the surviving family and friends are comfortable? Death is a part of life, so have fun and spread love and joy in life and death. ;)

Viewing are supposed to be a celebration of the deceased's life. Why not celebrate the fact he was a die hard Steelers fan. From the article, it seemed that the family had an eaiser time coping seeing him this way then in a coffin. Where's the harm in that?

I don't believe that anyone should be treated this way.

To most of us this situation seems weird only because you wouldn't expect to go to a viewing and see the guy propped up on the chair as if he was still alive. But if that what he or his family wanted, we really have no place to judge him. Shame on us
