Tannehill and Wallace

Why is it that a majority of the time all this Tannehill not throwing it well enough talk is usually about a pass to Wallace?

It was the case all the first half to almost anyone he threw to. Passes were constantly behind receivers. He cleaned it up a bit more in the 2nd half. His pass to Sims in the endzone was crisp.

Ball placement had nothing to do with the fumble. These types of catches and hits happen in every game, your job as a WR is
1.Catch the ball
2. Secure it
3. Run like hell

I understand and agree with some of that. And I'm not saying by any stretch that Wallace doesnt have any blame, but I still place some on ball placement. Saying it has nothing to do with it is as ludicrous as saying it's only reason he fumbled. If Wallace didnt have to correct his body as much, he may have been able to hang on. Or maybe, just maybe....it was a good hit that jarred the ball lose and that's that.

Wallace was going to get jacked either way. He fumbled the ball. PERIOD...

you know...i should have watched the replay again before making a stance on this today. I thought the hit happened a bit sooner. I thought he was hit as he turned around, but i just went to NFL.com and rewatched it....and he clearly caught it, turned around took 2 to 3 steps and got hit. This is on Wallace....and apparently, I am blind! I was so sure though, I didnt bother looking at the replay again.

That hit happened swiftly. By the time Wallace contorted to back to reach behind him to snag the pass, the defender was up on him for that big hit.

Two things could have happened here instead. A: Wallace had steps on his guy early in that route and the pass could've come sooner. B: He leads his receiver so he can anticipate the hit.

It did happen so fast! Better ball placement would have given him a better chance...which was my point all along, but looks like he did have time to properly secure it. He just didnt anticipate that hit fast enough. However..that was helmet on ball. Anyone would have fumbled that. He needs to be better at anticipating hits.

All I know is, I recognize who Wallace is as a receiver. I hope Tanny eventually does and starts playing to his strengths instead of hoping he morphs into someone else.

Looking at that video, I'm asking, why couldn't the ball be 2 yards to the right? Why couldn't Thill help out his WR? "Should" Wallace have got gis feet down, isn't in question, he should've. Thill could've made a better throw also. everyone keeps saying, "great WRs come down with the ball in that situation". Does anyone here believe Wallace is a great WR? Thill doesn't know his personnel?

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

Tannehill is throwing on the run to avoid pressure. Wallace takes himself out of bounds because he refuses to catch the ball with his hands. He leans toward the sidelines to give himself room to basket catch the ball at his chest. If he reaches up and catches it with his hands, it is an easy catch and a beautiful throw.

It's above a child's line of thinking. That's why you're having a hard time with it. I'll hold your hand though, if need be. Do you agree or disagree that if the pass was put in front of Wallace, instead of behind him as it was, he would have had more time to turn and see the defender about to hit him? Giving him more time to prepare for the hit? Just answer the question. It's really a yes or no question.

What kind of moron thinks a fumble Wallace lost is Tannehill's fault? LOL.

Maybe if he actually dropped the pass, which was behind him, but he didnt.

Thats all on Wallace.

Ok, so what you're saying is, Thill was pressured to make a throw towards the sideline, instead of being able to put it exactly where it should've been? OK, I got you but, how is that part on Wallace? It was a good throw on the run but, that's what Thill does better than most and I'm not into making excuses for the leader of our team. AGAIN, Wallace should've gotten his feet down BUT, Thill should've helped him out by putting the ball perfectly. You all expect Wallace to catch the ball perfectly. He had Revis on him. And chasing down Thill isn't what Wilfork gets paid to do. We demolished him in what he gets paid for. Thill gets no kudos for out running Wilfork. Sorry.

You do realize on the throw to the endzone, THill was running for his life on an unplanned rollout AND Wilfork (I think) was bearing down on him. He didn't have time to set his feet.

Under the circumstances, it looked like a pretty darn good throw to me, and a tough catch on the other end of it. People don't live in slo-mo.

The INT, on the other hand, was thrown way behind Wallace who was streaking across the 5 yard line deep. Wallace circled back after he located the ball.

While we are at it, how about the pass that hit Wallace in the facemask?

I liked your other comment because i agree with your assessment on the fumble play, but on the endzone throw...to me that was a beautiful pass. You're asking RT to run to his right but make sure the throw is more to the left? It was an inbound ball. He did not have to reach out of bounds to get grab it.

Trent Green on the CBS broadcast, Joe Rose, Brian Griese, and Jimmy Cefalo on the Dolphins radio broadcast all agreed that if Tannehill threw that ball further inside, it's a TD. Instead, he threw way outside.

Joe Rose put further emphasis on that particular play this morning, and was hammering the same stance over and over...."You've got to throw that thing further inside, and it's touchdown".....

The ball should've been out as soon as Revis was on his heels on that double move....

If you don't agree that that was a poor throw, then I must make the assumption that you struggle to see. Sorry.
I love Tannehill, I really do. I don't like Wallace. But people are focusing on the throw and where Wallace's feet were instead of focusing on what you point out - the ball should have gotten out as soon as Wallace roasted revis - TOTALLY AGREE. Anyone think Peyton, Rogers, Marino etc would have missed that? No way. But this is the theme w Ryan - I really think he waits too long to get the ball out when going down field. I know he was pressured on this one. I'm just talking in general which is why the long throws are late and off too often. Needs to sling it out there instead of trying to be too perfect. At least that's what my non-qualified football eyes tell me.

No doubt. Let it rip already Ryan!

I guarantee you at film study, Lazor will say throw the ball earlier and inside.

As soon as Wallace beat Revis on the double move boom let it fly.

Someone in another thread said Lazor made a few comments indicating Tanny needed to improve next week. I'm trying to find the article.
