Tannehill injury updates - no structural damage

Second opinion when you got so called positive news. I never heard that one. Usually you get second opinion when the first guy tells you what you don't wanna hear.

when the word inconclusive is used you get a second opinion......

Maybe.

Maybe not.

Could be primarily mental. Many moons ago, I shredded every ligament in my ankle wrestling. (Yes, I know a knee is not an ankle - stay with me) No surgery, and after rehab everything felt fine. You say you're fine, and feel fine - but don't 1000% believe it.

Then it twists while you're putting stress on it & down you go. Pain. Fear. WTF?!?

After the swelling recedes, you feel fine again and regain confidence in the joint.

Each time it happens, recovery is quicker.

Hell, now when I feel it start - I just roll with it and get up laughing.

I'm going glass half-full. :)

Bumpus, I had same exact deal in HS wrestling. Same rehab issues, same tweaks, same fears, same faster recovery each time. Since then I've gotten used to it and I am just much more aware of it and a bit more careful. I'm not as physical these days, but it's been at least a decade since I tweaked it bad enough to cause swelling. Like you said, an ankle isn't a knee . . . and the joints/ligaments of NFL athletes like Tannehill are exposed to greater and more constant risks. Yeah, much of it could be mental. It may not be feeling as strong as he'd like and even the slightest pain can scare the heck out of you and affect your play some. However, it MAY not be anything major to worry about IF he can learn to adjust and compensate for it MENTALLY. He may not be quite as mobile as before, but he'll still be very much Ryan Tannehill. All speculation at this point though. Agreed with your glass half-full sentiment.

I loved his mobility with this brace, but I'm thinking he needs one that will prevent a hyperextension. It may prevent him from moving as freely, but if it gives him any more support, it's worth a try.

He's been so tough and injury-free his entire career that this is just unnerving. Hopefully this is just a minor bump in the road of Ryan.............

agree. throughout his career, this would be something he would have played through. now, it's a major news story. Is that because it's practice and not the regular season or is it really something that would have sidelined him in a regular season game? either way, what we are all speculating is true. this Tannehill is not the same Tannehill as the one before the dirty hit and continued forced pressure applied by calias cambell after he had already thrown the ball.

In a glass half full/half empty scenario. Could we say it's a good sign concerning the strength of Tannehill's knee that it endured trauma and didn't tear? Could that actually be a sign the knee's recovery from last year's injury is going ok.

RT needs to rehab and rehab only till the last preseason game at least. His arm will be fine. They need to get his stability back asap. Obviously.
