Tannehill, Jordan, JT & lots of Dolphins chatter

Issues with Matthews beyond performance, does anyone have any idea what that could mean?

it means he is gone and landry is taking his locker.

buh-bye!!!

Philbin having issues with Matthews ticks me off.

why are you blaming philbin? or philbin alone? it said COACHES not coach who have issues with him. so lazor must have issues with him.

so, are lazor and the "other" coaches all bums now to because mathews has problems or are you just content to lay it all on philbin?

and i will tell you
NATE[/B] like i told another guy with all his whiney "oooh, philbin just wants guys to pick up gum wrappers and not coach", etc..... .

dont you think these KIDS are old enough to not THROW THEIR WRAPPERS ON THE FLOOR? dont do that and you wont have wrappers to pick up!! how absolutely assinine it is to see posters ragging philbin for holding the players who are not mature enough yet to put their trash in a bucket responsible for their actions.

if they are not disciplined enough to do something so basic, how can they be trusted to be disciplined in the bigger things of the game?

everyone talks about all this" why doesnt he hold the players responsible, if he did we would have had us in the playoffs. they need to be disciplined, etc..., but when he does, then everyones mad at him for doing it!!

little kids throw their trash on the floor. little kids get mad and cry and flail when an adult holds them responsible for doing that.

1. I am very lukewarm having RT changing from the offensive system he has been used to.
2. I hate the LB set up. I do not like some of the players nor the fits.
3. Joe seems candid of his feelings toward Wallace and it is good to hear the positive vibe.
4. Too many think Bill Lazor is going to come in and make revolutionary changes to the way the offense has played. That is not going to be the case. It will be about the players execution and consistency. The jury is very much out for me when it comes to Lazor.

Anything Positive? The weather maybe???

Love what Lazor is doing. He's the best thing for Tannehill right now, and for the whole offense.

Knowing he's doing so much with the TE's, I hope we have enough talent there to work with.

I read a couple reports from the beat reporters and I see the usual Tannehill overthrowing Wallace picked right up where he left off last year.
He almost NEVER over threw Wallace, usually he UNDER threw him. At least that is different.

Barry, What are the non-performance issues with Rishard Matthews?

Barry Jackson
Involves coachability and issues (NOT drug or crime related) that I am not able to divulge yet. But there are two sides to every story.

I hope it turns out alright because the kid is a talented receiver.

Some guys are going to excel in the new system and others are going to struggle and ultimately get cut. We have a lot more receiver talent than I can recall. Hickey has deliberately signed and drafted a lot of them with the expectation that some are not going to make it.
Like others, I thought that Rishard Matthews stepped up pretty well last season when Gibson got injured. However, it sounds like he has a personality to piss some people off (remember when Tannehill ordered him off the field last year, some of us took it as a good thing that Ryan could show some assertiveness). Tannehill was also visibly angry with him messing up a route that was needed in one of the late season games that we lost.
Many forget that Matthews made his name at Nevada as Colin Kaepernick's preferred target and the system was pretty simple. For his talent he was drafted in the 7th round for a reason. These comments from Barry Jackson sound like they may have come from someone within the organization.
Coaches and players had grown comfortable in the too predictable Sherman Offense. Don't be surprised if Lazor is significantly increasing the level of complexity and some are not going to make it. Matthews like others, is probably under pressure just to hold his spot on the roster.
In New England, Tom Brady is ruthless on any WRs who make route mistakes - they are quickly disposed of. Lazor is probably going to put very significant pressure on everyone to step it up. The luxury of who was favored last season is gone.
Also interesting to note that Mike Pouncey and Mike Wallace both answered every question very seriously and professionally, in their respective media interviews. The pressure is clearly on.

What is #3 on my list? It was most "certainly" positive.

#4 is where I am taking **** from people. It is reality folks…the players have to execute and be consistent. Bill Lazor is not going to come in here and "revolutionize" football. Might he do a few things to free up a Mike Wallace? Sure, but at the end of the day this is not about play design. It is about the players executing.

And while we have some time to see it, let's see just how much Chip Kelly Lazor has in his repertoire. He coached with him all of one year in Philly. I am guessing the answer is Lazor is his own guy and have his own take on how to play offense and hopefully it is effective. However, at this point nobody knows.

Finally, it is a legit question of whether it is the right move to take Tannehill from the offense he has known all his adult life to this new one. He is an inexperienced QB that is still growing. Will this new offense help or hurt his progression. I am still on the fence on this one and I am certainly not convinced as many of you it is going to be this shot to top line of success for him because of Lazor.

Matthews doesn't do his assignments is what I heard, because there are other things to do on the football field besides catch.

I've said before that Tannehill progression will be stunted with his college coach, the kid need to grow as an QB, he has all of the tools to be real good in this offense, and if he fails look for somebody other than Matt Moore to replace him.

I think Tannehill changing playbooks is a perfect way to find out if he's the guy to lead the franchise or not.

Tannehill will either succeed or fail in the Lazor Offense. However, it is great to give him the challenge of a new system to learn. Ryan is clearly very intelligent but he has had the rare luxury of having Mike Sherman as his coach throughout college and then as OC at Miami. Some felt that Sherman was overly protective of Tannehill. Maybe this is true.
Joe Philbin's blind spot was Mike Sherman. At times the play calling was incredibly predictable and this was a big reason why Miami lost some of the close games (eg the first Buffalo game in Miami, Tampa Bay and Baltimore). Apart from being his OC, Mike was also a mentor to Joe going back over 30 years when Joe played for him. They are clearly great friends and Joe seems indebted to Mike.
In Bill Lazor we have someone who has been exposed to a number of top NFL coaches and systems. He is also not bogged down with the possible tarnish of nepotism eg Mike's son in law, Zac Taylor and Jim Turner was also related.
Philbin, Taylor and Tannehill all have the opportunity to show what they can do without Mike Sherman and his system. Be open to the possibility that it can improve significantly. While it is no certainty, more of the same was not the answer and Sherman's lack of awareness and silence re the O-line bullygate fiasco should also be questioned. Philbin and Turner were both in the spotlight but Mike was also unaware.

I read a couple reports from the beat reporters and I see the usual Tannehill overthrowing Wallace picked right up where he left off last year.

Then you didn't attend any free practices, because I did. The over-throwing he's doing in practice THIS year so far is exactly what I saw him do LAST year. And he did it more than a few times in games as well, go back and look at tape. During actual games, you're correct, most of the balls off target were under thrown. Tanny has the arm, he just can't seem to be on target.

i read that also and was disappointed but this year I got a feeling it will be a major focus unlike last year where it seemed to be an after thought.

100 percent agree. I think they gave him a lot of slack up to this point. It would be a major failure to admit that Wallace is a waste on this team and we don't have a QB who can connect with him. The whole point of having him is not just to dink and dunk.

rishard mathews in the dog house huh...please don't keep binns over him...
