Tannehill, Jordan, JT & lots of Dolphins chatter

It's about time the coaches held accountable players who will not put in the time needed to be successful. Billecheat/ Brady would never stand for that.

Philbin having issues with Matthews ticks me off. What did he do, leave a chewing gum wrapper on the floor? Philbin wants an easy job where he doesn't have to get his fingers dirty.

Matthews is an ascending player who had, what, 40 catches in about 7 games? What's more, he has fight in him. He is competitive and strong. He is the type of player we should be cultivating. It reminds me of how Philbin got rid of Marshall.

Do your job, Philbin, and coach these guys up, and stop trying to take the easy way out. If you wanted an easy way out, you should have taught junior high geometry or Latin. Dealing with challenging personalities is part of an NFL coach's job description. Did Jimmy Johnson get rid of Charles Haley? No, he won super bowls with him. Get your head out of your ass Philbin.

You admit you don't know what Matthews' undoing with Philbin is yet you criticize Philbin for it anyway?

1. I am very lukewarm having RT changing from the offensive system he has been used to.
2. I hate the LB set up. I do not like some of the players nor the fits.
3. Joe seems candid of his feelings toward Wallace and it is good to hear the positive vibe.
4. Too many think Bill Lazor is going to come in and make revolutionary changes to the way the offense has played. That is not going to be the case. It will be about the players execution and consistency. The jury is very much out for me when it comes to Lazor.

You do realize now is the time for them to try players out at different positions if they want to, right? Still two months away from training camp.

Joe seems candid of his feelings toward Wallace and it is good to hear the positive vibe.

when has joe EVER said anything NOT positive about wallace? where is this coming from? all he has ever done is praise wallace for being a hard worker in camp, first in, last out. takes it upon himself each year to work on his own along the team activities working on his craft, etc..... .

there is NO REASON for him to say anything but positive HAYDEN!!

tannyhill on the other hand has been taken to task in public several times about having to get better at not holding the ball so long and improving on hitting the teams big time playmaker downfield [aka mike wallace]. i think some have gotten it into their head that wallace is to blame for tannys shortcomings so much they think philbin feels the same way.

he doesnt. he shouldnt. in tannys first practice the other day how many times did he miss, and i quote, a WIDE OPEN MIKE WALLACE? again, in the same report, finnegan was all over him, picking him off, tanny telegraphing throws for pics and jumping routes when tanny goes to to wallace. he isnt improving on his game and the things philbin has asked him to improve on. his career is on the line this year. his contract option is up. is he a franchise qb or not. he has to prove that to hickey to see if he deserves tghe money and the years on a franchise contract. we cant afford to give a big time contract and invest in mega years yet again on another qb project. tanny has to prove, beyond doubt he is ready and his lingering mistakes are behind him.

he couldnt have started the season any worse.

all marshall does is get open. there is nothing about him that isnt positive. hell, even matt moore hit armon binns for an 80yd td!! devilin hit marshall in stride for a td.

and these were 7 on 7 drills!! tanny wasnt even under any big rush!!

and,... why the hell are you so guarded on tanny and playing in a new [and improved] offense? everyone says this is an offensive players dream, perfect for qb's to get yards and stats. if he cant handle change, we dont need him. very few qbs have stayed in one offense their whole career. and lets face it, he hasnt exactly shined in his old offense. he should have been able to run it blind folded and be mass productive. he didnt. he should be thanking the football gods he finally has an innovative offense to help him and his playmakers.

this SHOULD BE considered a GOOD THING hayden, not a worry. franchise qb's rise to the occasion when their is change. they adapt. they welcome new challenges, especially if those changes offer more production. franchise qb's dont need to be coddled. theres no coddling in pro football!!

please don't keep binns over him

why would you say that HOOPS? mathews got the gig last year because gibson AND binns got hurt.

binns was DOMINATING EVERYONE in last years camp before he was hurt. and from the reports the other day, he is picking right up where he left off. even messed around and got himself an 80yd td [from matt moore].

we have been so thin at talent for so long, as soon as a guy makes one or two plays, he is instantly an untouchable. a cant get rid of guy. mathews has been here long enough and hasnt shown near enough. very SMALL glimpses. there is a reason he hasnt been seen much with the starters until the 2 guys ahead of him got hurt.

and the reports of the coaches not being thrilled with him [thats COACH-ES, not just philbin]. this offense of lazors appears to need wr's to be sharp and productive NOW, to make plays whenever called on, not 3 years from now like the philly wide outs. there obviously is something not good. why would lazor and philbin not keep the more talented, productive guy? if mathews i the guy who looses out, than its because binn will have the better camp. he will show he is the better player. i mean really HAYDEN, do you care what name is on the back of the jersey? i dont.

BINNS has made good everytime he has been on the practice field. big plays, td's. dominant. mathews? not so much. binns is physical and manhandles db's with his 6'3, 220lb frame.

i just dont get why your so pro mathews and so down on binns.

Finally, it is a legit question of whether it is the right move to take Tannehill from the offense he has known all his adult life to this new one. He is an inexperienced QB that is still growing. Will this new offense help or hurt his progression. I am still on the fence on this one and I am certainly not convinced as many of you it is going to be this shot to top line of success for him because of Lazor.

Tannehill is in the NFL now and if he cannot learn and strive in this system, he is not our guy. Pure and simple. Great players adapt. I for one hope Tannehill is a monster in the new system. But if he is not, then we know what we have. And we are to find out soon enough.

What did the old offense do for Tannehill that was so positive ? His last year at A & M under this system got Sherman fired. His first two here have resulted in 7 and 9 then 8 and 8 records and in both the offensive production was dreadful at barely 19 points per game.
Change was needed for both Ryan and our team. He's a smart guy so i don't see a problem.

Keep in mind that while it is mentioned Tannehill struggled at times, he had his share of moments so far in OTAs of good... of course, OTAs are the first time the whole team gets to work on these plays so either way is not a big deal... remember in 2007 Abe Wright was unblockable in shorts, but he couldn't do ANYTHING once the pads came on.

And yes, if Lazor continues to practice what he preaches he'll be the best thing to happen to Ryan Tannehill. Either he'll help him get to the next level or we'll be starting to look towards another QB. Again, I'm not a huge Mike Sherman fan, but one of his bigger issues as OC was his inability to (willingly) adapt his style or teach his players.

Rishard Matthews on the way out of Miami?
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
Dolphins receiver Rishard Matthews is on the outs with the team because of "losing focus" and "not learning as quickly as coaches want," the Miami Herald reported. It turns out Matthews isn't "a Joe Philbin favorite" despite catching 41 passes for 448 yards and two scores in limited playing time last season.

The Dolphins drafted LSU receiver Jarvis Landry with a second-round pick, a sign the team is ready to move on from Matthews.

Never heard of this guy but this may be what they are referring to.

Matthews is a late round pick and apart from a few receptions to move the chains, has not established himself. He is the 4th receiver at best.
Regarding Philbin not liking him, that would have to be earned. I doubt Philbin just woke up one day with a hair up his ass about Matthews.
He might not hustle, is lackadaisical about preparation, or is not respectful to the coach. It could be anything.
The bottom line is that Landry and Binns will prove to be better receivers and Matthews is likely going to get cut.
I have no problem with that.

I like the new offense. From initial reports, it sounds like it will actually feature a running game and have more complexity and diversity.
The most exciting part is just having the right plays called by the coach in certain situations. Lazor will call a different game.
Shermin never set up big plays because of play calling and at other times his play calls were absolutely ridiculous.

The "GO-GO" Sherman system? Nah, I'm good.
