Tannehill Needs To Start From Day 1

It seems to me that we had the same argument over Henne. Turns out he just wasn't that good. Your QB either has it or doesn't. If he lacks the intestinal fortitude to take his lumps (and losses), and learn from his mistakes rather than letting them crush his spirit then maybe you don't have the right guy back there in the first place.

LOL! After watching a show about previous draft picks I don't think we should start him right away. Man Tim Couch got thrown to the wolves and got used and abused.

I think almost all first rs QBs should sit at least their first year IMO.

How many QBs have we seen destroyed starting too soon.

Im totally fine having him sit a year or even 2.

Weve upgraded the QBs position adding Gerrard.

Let Philbin and Sherman earn their paychecks and do what they do best.

Damn if we do and damn if we don't, we are never happy and never will be.......
Tannehill Needs To Start From Day 1???????????????????????? That's crazy!
Moore and Garrard are expected to compete for the starting job this year, which will give Philbin time to groom Tannehill for the job and for Tannehill to learn from the veterans while competing with them as well.

I 100% disagree..

I say let him sit....learn the system..learn how to be a pro...

You play him from jump street and we could lose his confidence.

If hes ready he will start. If not I don't think sitting hurt Rodgers most likely its the reason hes where hes at. Lets wait and see.

i have said it once and i will say it again. Its a waste of a high pick for a guy that is not going to come in and make an impact on this team for 2-3 years. The way this team is built and with the number of FA we might lose next year we might have to start from scratch. If he doesnt start week one i dont see it as a good pick. The truly good QB's in the league have to have mental toughness to be productive. Throw him in there week one and tell him he doesnt have to be the savior of this team now. What he needs to do is learn and get experience and take his bumps and sh*t now and grow mentally and physically. Eli, Peyton,Rothlesberger, matt ryan, flacco are guys that started day one and struggled alittle but turned out alright. If one struggling rookie season is going to "RUIN" a guy then he shouldnt of been a top ten pick. Guess what the colts are going to blow next year and Luck is probably going to be just ok his first year and they might have the first pick next year but im pretty sure hes going to end up having a really good career because he seems to have that mentally toughness that says im going to make it no matter what. Not comparing tanny to luck just saying thats the attitude tanny needs to have to be a winner in the nfl, and this "dont ruin him by throwing him to the wolves" mentallity doesnt make since to me. steel sharpens steel.

And stop the rodgers sat and he turned out fine talk. He sat behind a furture HOF and in a system that was really good. We dont have a HOF QB here and he already knows alot of the system cuz he played in it for 3 years.

Extremely well said sir.

Nobody is questioning whether or not Luck or RG3 will be starting....of course they are. If one or both of them turn out to be another Ryan Leaf...did indy or wash. make a mistake by starting them? of course not. And this garbage about Aaron Rodgers has no bearing whatsoever on our situation. Hes not great because he sat for a few years...hes great because he sat behind one of the greatest of all time. Unless you plan on bringing Marino back for him to sit behind and learn from, sitting him makes no sense.

Or picking him at #8 was a failure. I don't want to hear about how he needs to sit and learn for a year or two. If he can't beat out Moore and Garrard, he wasn't worth picking at #8. Its that simple. Guys like Dalton did well starting from day 1 last year, Tannehill needs to do the same.

Yes, yes, yes yes. I have been saying the same. He knows the offense..it's his old coach! If he can't beat out Moore and garrard, then it was a bad pick. Especially when kuechly is on the board. My god, we passed on a complete god at MLB. Our defense would be insane with him.

Start the rookie because he earns it, or the pick is horrible.

I'm not mad, after the cowboys did the trade up with bucs and Blackmon being taking before the had no choice but to pull the trigger on tannehill.

No he really doesnt. At least give him a year, I think Matt Moore can hold the fort for a year or two.

What does "hold the fort" mean? Remain the third best team in the AFC East?

I think everybody would agree that Tannehill was a reach at 8 which is a fail in itself and now people are saying not only did we reach for a player but we reached for a player that we didn't even need. EPIC FAIL.

Anyway, Darlington just quoted Ireland as saying 'he didn't draft a guy at 8 to be a backup' so hope that turns out to be the case.

If Rodgers were drafted by any other team, he would have been pressed into starting immediately. He just lucked out, just as Tom Brady and Phillip Rivers lucked out. Top 10 is not the place to draft a QB project with high bust potential. That's why I'm pissed.

And let's not forget that Aikman (of all QBs!) and Peyton took their lumps their first year. They eventually learned from it, especially with flashes of brilliance. If Tannehill were really better than Aikman, then he would start Week 1. If he doesn't seize the reins (especially, as another poster said, with complete knowledge of the Sherman playbook), then he's automatically a bust.

I just want to know when I can order my #17 Tannehill Dolphins jersey :)
