Tannehill vs Luck Updated

Mark was a good QB in this league until 2012 when he had Tony Sparano running his offense, Tim Tebow and the worst set of healthy skill players the league has seen in a long time. I don't care if it didn't always look pretty but w/ him we won a lot of games including a bunch of playoff games. That doesn't happen by accident.

More excuses, when earlier in the thread, you emphasized that it's wins that matter and everything else is secondary.

he was VITAL to winning that game, the game was won at QB. SD's QB made the big mistakes, ours did not.

you guys win when your pass rush is dominating, lose when they aren't. Your season needed saving in TB, did Ryan step up? On Sunday the D won that game harassing Rivers. 2 biggest games of the year, Ryan nowhere to be found.

Sanchez against SD: 12-23-100-1-1. 17 points scored - Sanchez was vital......

Tannehill against SD: 22-35-268-1-1. 20 points scored - Tannehill was nowhere to be found....

Tannehill is already 10x the QB that Sanchez ever was. The only thing that takes away from my disappointment over the benching of Sanchez is the play of Geno Smith. The only truthful thing you have ever written about Sanchez is in my signature.

I have both of them in Fantasy Football league, so I follow both closely. You are right, their stats are remarkably comparable and the football media experts would not believe it if they looked at the data. Luck is rightly loved by all and Tannehill barely gets into the conversation. However, the numbers are a bit of a misnomer because they don't show Luck's terrific skills in:
(a) sensing the protection collapse and firing the ball away in a nano-second, whereas Ryan gets sacked.
(b) the injury to Reggie Wayne has meant that Luck is now making chicken salad out of chicken sh*t - we have much better WRs
(c) Luck is surprising good at running with the ball, whereas I sense that Sherman has ordered Tannehill not to.

True, and both have very bad OL's but, the numbers also do not show the big advantage Luck has in the running game. As Hoops mentioned, big deal in pass action.

I am not comparing a home game in the reg season against a 4-5 team vs. a div rd playoff game on the road against the hottest team in the league.

Our D was great that day and a huge reason why we won, both Ds played really well, it came down to which QB made the least mistakes and that is why we won.

If Ryan is 10x the QB Sanchez is I expect 2 playoff wins this year at least. let's see what happens.

The SD playoff game:

Bottom Line: SD Lost that game more than NYJ winning it and as Mike Westhoff has observed in general, Sanchez was somewhere on the bus but sure not driving it:

Sanchez: 60QBR 101 yds, sub 50% completion, 1TD (short yardage resulting from a Rivers int) and 1 Int (with return in 3rd quarter, putting SD on the jest 37 yd line approaching FG range before Rivers gave it back to Revis). So much for The Buttfumbler doing nothing to hurt the team LOL... Overall in a 3pt game, Sanchez put up an impressive 41yds in the second half

Sanchez: so miserable a passer that day, another way that SD lost the game was allowing him to hand off to Greene for a 53 yd TD run. Overall 168yds rushing, 101 passing.

This loss was on SD, it's QB who gave back a Sanchez boneheaded interception and a choking kicker. Also on the defensive scheme which despite having to defend against an inept passer, still allowed too many rushing yards. Kaedig, missing 2 sub 40 chip shots and a makeable mid 50s as well .....And that's all she wrote.

I think for the moment without doubt Ryan is the 2nd best QB in the AFC East, will be the best QB in the East once Brady leaves, and considering his ceiling has not been reached yet, could be one of the best in the AFC, with a possibility of maybe being one of the best in the NFL.

Pair him up with a top defense, pass protection, and a running game and I would guarantee it.

If winning is all that matters and winning the most critical games is most important, then by your own rules Sanchez didn't get it done. He LOST the most important game of the year every year he was in the league.

No, the fact that you think Sanchez did anything good in that game, says more about your objectivity than it does about anything else. Even your sideline coach Weshoff is on record as saying that Sanchez NEVER drove the bus in the postseasons,

Oh and I did say that there was little difference between Rex and Sparano at that point - both had 1 legitimate postseason they earned into, Rex did win 2 games but Sparano orchestrated the greatest turnaround ever and won the division.. something rex never did. And I did say that Henne would have done at least as well as Sanchez with those tools in 09 and 10 and stand by it. I don't even think Sanchez could beat him out in Jacksonville.

I'm also the guy who said that Pete Carroll knew what he was talking about when pronouncing buttchez not ready for the NFL and that him not even being able to beat out John David Booty spoke volumes.
