He also took 42 passes to get 229 yards, which is a poor YPA.
The team scored below a half a point per pass attempt, whereas the Buccaneers scored over a point per pass attempt, which is about what the Denver Broncos have done this year with Peyton Manning and company.
Tannehill's pass attempts on the other hand yielded a poor number of yards and a poor number of points, and that has been a problem for him all year.
I have no idea how good the guy will be in a year or two, but right now he's playing at a level associated with a low likelihood of winning in the NFL.

indeed...these contracts are abysmal...and worse we can't do anything about them for 2 years which means we won't be making many changes in the starting unit any time soon...so get used to awful lb play
Running game plays an important part in all of this....Bucs ran the ball extremely well which help the points per pass attempt theory....

Tannehill isn't worth arguing about. He's going to be our QB going into next season and hopefully he will have a chance to show what he can do with a new offensive coaching staff, an actual QB coach who isn't somebody's son-in-law, and possibly some halfway decent pass protection.
He has shown much, much more than Jake Locker did in his first two seasons, and Locker was making a huge leap forward this year. He's shown much more than Alex Smith did his first two seasons, and Smith is leading an 8-0 team right now. He's playing much better than Colin Kraepernick and nobody in SF is going to give up on that guy yet. So if teams aren't willing to give up on those guys, I don't know why anyone thinks the the team is going to give up on Ryan Tannehill yet. Like him or not, he is going to be our QB in 2014. Root for him to improve.
Incidentally, I have no issues with the Dolphins drafting a quarterback in the 2014 NFL Draft. Competition will make him a better player.

It is depressing to see a team who was good at playing the run become absolutely abysmal at it....
Actually it doesn't, because the correlations between running game variables and passing efficiency stats don't exceed the low 30s. In other words, the two things aren't strongly related. It's quite possible, and it happens quite often, that teams pass the ball efficiently while having non-extraordinary running games.

well you and i know why...it's not the dt's not doing their job...it's the lbs late to everything or not filling timely etc...we got like what $80 mil in an awful lb core...add in the oline woes and the crap drafts and yeah

we gonna have to shore up the oline woes before tannehill will ever take the leap...so if they shore it up and he doesn't become the man you can **** on me til the cows come home...
it won't go down like that though...they shore things up and allow us to run routes more down the field and this qb is gonna light people up especally if he gets even an average run game plus solid pass pro...

All young QBs struggle. Tom Brady's first year in the league, everyone talked about how cruddy his deep ball was.
I remember arguing -- with a Patriots fan -- on another message board about it. I said that I thought Brady was going to be a huge upgrade over Bledsoe and the guy insisted that Brady couldn't sling it deep worth a crap. Boy how that changed by the end of 2003.
Look at Cam Newton's struggles in Carolina. I can't believe there are people who think that guy sucks or is a bust. He is developing. And he is developing into a damn good quarterback.
