Team Needs (Miami Dolphins from Bleacher Report)

That's my take as well F/A for OL and WR. The draft for DE, DT, QB and RB
That has not worked out real well. We have been bringing on oft-injured, expensive veteran FA's @ OLine for a long time. Look at the Pats. For years they built EXCELLENT OLines with later rd. draft picks and castoff FA's. They never paid big money for their OLines. Maybe we need to poach their OLine Coordinator if he has not retired already.

Good point. The QB in the next draft speculation is really a ? at this point. If Tua stays upright the rest of the year, we don't go QB 1st rd. If Tua goes out again for more than 1 game, I think we have to look hard at QB, or pick up a good veteran FA. I still believe next year we really should draft OLine 1st - 7th rds, that together with any FA Olinemen we have signed, maybe we field a competitive OLine squad to start next season. At that point we could bring in a geriatric like Flacco to win games.

I'm in for a proven vet QB depending on Tyler. If he shows unexpected and amazing talent, maybe not, but I doubt he can lock down #2.
I'm not as down on Jax at OT as many. He's noy top 10, but he's not the problem on OL. Target OG in draft and FA. Upgrade backups. Shouldn't be hard. But DL and TE get some priority unless someone other than Smith steps up

TYLER WARREN IS WHAT WE NEED HONESTLY AND YES IM YELLING IT AT YOU ALL!

We need a dominating TE who can be a safety value to our offense and Qb's. Warren is one of if not the best TE in College football right now and we desperately need one that can dominate the game.
I am not for drafting ANY TE unless he can double as a Left, or Right Tackle, or a Left, or Right Guard...

Exactly. A rookie top pick qb and tua on the books is workable. What isn’t is a high priced vet paired with tua.

Miami needs to go the rookie plan b route. Of course the more you win the harder it gets to get said rookie
Hell, we could probably bring back Fitzmagic for $100k and an apt. in Miami. He LOVES f**cking football! This team needs more guys like him!

A QB would be fun but as of now the two I like won’t be around. I love me some pessimistic post as much as anyone but this team is not picking top 10. Now if the Dolphins lose the next two, then we might be cooking. I think this team flirts with .500 the remainder of the season. I think the Dolphins will be in position to get one of the stud DT’s in round one and the best guard in the draft in round two.

We can only pray our #1 pick this year is an OLineman. A "ready to start" OLineman, not a project, not a guy on rehab, etc. If they can just lock Grier out of the Sg War-room during the 1st pick we might be alralright.
Sounds like the strength of the draft is defensive line, which might actually be a bigger meed than offensive line in 2025.

As others have highlighted, Campbell and Ogbah are short-term answers and Phillips now becomes more of a question mark. Take those three out and the line needs seriously help.

Unfortunately, offensive line has been a problem for what seems like forever. Second round maybe and in free agency?

It does look somewhat bleak on paper. I feel depth has been a sore spot for a long time on both sides of the line. Too much $ locked up in too few players. I don't think our "SuperBowl Blueprint" has worked for many, many years.

Right. Looking at the players who were drafted to be core players is, for the most part, disappointing as well.

Tua is good when healthy, but he's a major health risk now. It's a quarterback driven league and we know he's not Josh Allen to begin with.

Phillips unfortunately is injured again. That raises concerns about his future.

Holland is a good player, but hasn't taken his game to the next level. Will he want more than he's worth like Hunt?

Waddle has been productive. No problems there. But he's clearly a good number two receiver. Not a number one.

Trades...

Seiler continues to exceed expectations. A fantastic find for Grier.

Ramsey is older, but still very good.

Hill is older, but still one of the best at his position.

Chubb is a potential salary cut due to his price tag. Will Miami now keep him?

There's no one currently on the offensive line that I'd label as a core player. Not really at linebacker either.

So, this is at least a modest rebuild. Which is why I'd also consider a quarterback if the team lucked into one with a higher upside than Tua.

If we are selecting in the middle of round 1 the top tier QB's will be gone, a good possibility could be.

R1. NT Deone Walker from Kentucky. He is the top rated NT and the 2nd rated DT overall only behind Mason Graham who will likely be a top 5 pick. He is more than just a run stopper he can also pressure the QB.

R2. QB Drew Allar from Penn State. We have to start developing a young QB

With our 2 3rd round compensatory picks.

OG Luke Kandra from Cincinnati

S Malachi Moore from Alabama

R4. DT Derrick Harmon from Oregon - Campbell will probably retire

R5. OG Connor Colby from Iowa

Deone Walker may play the most upright of any impact dt I’ve ever seen.

The Penn state qb is interesting as a developmental piece.

If grier sticks dt will be high on the list. Run stiffer plugger shouldn’t be hard to find we need another impact 3 tech. Mason graham grier would pounce on im sure of it.

Buffalo needs to be at the front of that list. Until we can get by them (1-12) over the last forever, we don't have to worry about those other teams.

You can not only end thread after this post but end every thread on this site for the foreseeable future too. Spot on.

Few teams have needed a bye week as badly as the Miami Dolphins did this week. The 2024 season has quickly become a disaster. They are only 2-3, but it somehow feels worse than even the record would indicate.
Miami ranks near the bottom in nearly every offensive metric and can use the week off to get healthier, recuperate and figure out a plan for the offense. If they can do that, they might be able to eke out enough wins to be relevant if and when Tua Tagovailoa comes back this season.

Biggest Weaknesses:
  1. Quarterback
  2. Interior Offensive Line
  3. Interior Defensive Line
  4. Wide Receiver Depth
  5. Tight End

Add Now: EDGE Shaq Lawson
Tua Tagoaviloa's injury isn't the only thing that has derailed the Dolphins' season. They're also dealing with a rash of injuries on the edge that includes Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb. Phillips was lost for the season to a torn ACL in Week 4 and Bradley Chubb is still on the PUP list.
The Dolphins really shouldn't be giving up draft capital to compete this season. The injuries have given them a difficult road to hoe, but signing a veteran free agent who could help them put themselves in a position to complete.

2025 Free Agency: LB Jamien Sherwood, New York Jets
Anthony Walker Jr. and David Long Jr. are both set to be free agents this offseason. Long should potentially be brought back because he is playing well, but the Dolphins could bring in a younger third linebacker than Walker.
Jamien Sherwood is doing good things with the Jets. The emerging linebacker will be 25 years old when he hits the market next season. If the Jets aren't interested in giving him a market contract, then the Dolphins should be looking to sign him away from their division rival.

2025 NFL Draft: OT Will Campbell, LSU
The only silver lining in the disappointing start to the Dolphins season is that it might wind up giving the Dolphins a top-10 pick. When healthy, this roster is not a bottom-10 group, but the reality is they might be too deep into the injured reserve to turn things around.
If that's the case, the Dolphins would need to strongly consider drafting an offensive tackle who can bolster the offensive line. Protecting Tagovailoa is going to be a priority moving forward and Campbell is one of the best offensive linemen in the draft class.
(Previous Week's Selections: QB Russell Wilson (trade), IOL Will Fries, S Lathan Ransom)
These guys would be a slight upgrade:
