That has not worked out real well. We have been bringing on oft-injured, expensive veteran FA's @ OLine for a long time. Look at the Pats. For years they built EXCELLENT OLines with later rd. draft picks and castoff FA's. They never paid big money for their OLines. Maybe we need to poach their OLine Coordinator if he has not retired already. That's my take as well F/A for OL and WR. The draft for DE, DT, QB and RB
Good point. The QB in the next draft speculation is really a ? at this point. If Tua stays upright the rest of the year, we don't go QB 1st rd. If Tua goes out again for more than 1 game, I think we have to look hard at QB, or pick up a good veteran FA. I still believe next year we really should draft OLine 1st - 7th rds, that together with any FA Olinemen we have signed, maybe we field a competitive OLine squad to start next season. At that point we could bring in a geriatric like Flacco to win games.
Go get Jalen milroe as tuas plan b for 2025
I am not for drafting ANY TE unless he can double as a Left, or Right Tackle, or a Left, or Right Guard...TYLER WARREN IS WHAT WE NEED HONESTLY AND YES IM YELLING IT AT YOU ALL!
We need a dominating TE who can be a safety value to our offense and Qb's. Warren is one of if not the best TE in College football right now and we desperately need one that can dominate the game.
Hell, we could probably bring back Fitzmagic for $100k and an apt. in Miami. He LOVES f**cking football! This team needs more guys like him!Exactly. A rookie top pick qb and tua on the books is workable. What isn’t is a high priced vet paired with tua.
Miami needs to go the rookie plan b route. Of course the more you win the harder it gets to get said rookie
Sounds like the strength of the draft is defensive line, which might actually be a bigger meed than offensive line in 2025.We can only pray our #1 pick this year is an OLineman. A "ready to start" OLineman, not a project, not a guy on rehab, etc. If they can just lock Grier out of the Sg War-room during the 1st pick we might be alralright.
It does look somewhat bleak on paper. I feel depth has been a sore spot for a long time on both sides of the line. Too much $ locked up in too few players. I don't think our "SuperBowl Blueprint" has worked for many, many years.Sounds like the strength of the draft is defensive line, which might actually be a bigger meed than offensive line in 2025.
As others have highlighted, Campbell and Ogbah are short-term answers and Phillips now becomes more of a question mark. Take those three out and the line needs seriously help.
Unfortunately, offensive line has been a problem for what seems like forever. Second round maybe and in free agency?
Right. Looking at the players who were drafted to be core players is, for the most part, disappointing as well.It does look somewhat bleak on paper. If we are selecting in the middle of round 1 the top tier QB's will be gone, a good possibility could be.
R1. NT Deone Walker from Kentucky. He is the top rated NT and the 2nd rated DT overall only behind Mason Graham who will likely be a top 5 pick. He is more than just a run stopper he can also pressure the QB.
R2. QB Drew Allar from Penn State. We have to start developing a young QB
With our 2 3rd round compensatory picks.
OG Luke Kandra from Cincinnati
S Malachi Moore from Alabama
R4. DT Derrick Harmon from Oregon - Campbell will probably retire
R5. OG Connor Colby from Iowa
Buffalo needs to be at the front of that list. Until we can get by them (1-12) over the last forever, we don't have to worry about those other teams.
And what do you do with Austin Jackson?![]()
These guys would be a slight upgrade:Few teams have needed a bye week as badly as the Miami Dolphins did this week. The 2024 season has quickly become a disaster. They are only 2-3, but it somehow feels worse than even the record would indicate.
Miami ranks near the bottom in nearly every offensive metric and can use the week off to get healthier, recuperate and figure out a plan for the offense. If they can do that, they might be able to eke out enough wins to be relevant if and when Tua Tagovailoa comes back this season.
Biggest Weaknesses:
- Quarterback
- Interior Offensive Line
- Interior Defensive Line
- Wide Receiver Depth
- Tight End
Add Now: EDGE Shaq Lawson
Tua Tagoaviloa's injury isn't the only thing that has derailed the Dolphins' season. They're also dealing with a rash of injuries on the edge that includes Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb. Phillips was lost for the season to a torn ACL in Week 4 and Bradley Chubb is still on the PUP list.
The Dolphins really shouldn't be giving up draft capital to compete this season. The injuries have given them a difficult road to hoe, but signing a veteran free agent who could help them put themselves in a position to complete.
2025 Free Agency: LB Jamien Sherwood, New York Jets
Anthony Walker Jr. and David Long Jr. are both set to be free agents this offseason. Long should potentially be brought back because he is playing well, but the Dolphins could bring in a younger third linebacker than Walker.
Jamien Sherwood is doing good things with the Jets. The emerging linebacker will be 25 years old when he hits the market next season. If the Jets aren't interested in giving him a market contract, then the Dolphins should be looking to sign him away from their division rival.
2025 NFL Draft: OT Will Campbell, LSU
The only silver lining in the disappointing start to the Dolphins season is that it might wind up giving the Dolphins a top-10 pick. When healthy, this roster is not a bottom-10 group, but the reality is they might be too deep into the injured reserve to turn things around.
If that's the case, the Dolphins would need to strongly consider drafting an offensive tackle who can bolster the offensive line. Protecting Tagovailoa is going to be a priority moving forward and Campbell is one of the best offensive linemen in the draft class.
(Previous Week's Selections: QB Russell Wilson (trade), IOL Will Fries, S Lathan Ransom)
At least there would be no holding or false starts!
