You beat me to it Monster. It's great to see the young guys pitch. So much for these guys being overhyped as the next Brian Rose/Paxton Crawford type.

Lester can pitch is right, and I agree when he learns how to control his pitches he's going to be an extremely effective pitcher.

Rose/Paxton they are not.. Lester looks great now and if Hansen is as good as advertised we have 3 great young pitchers.. The playoff rotation may be Schilling, Beckett, Lester they way he is pitching and with Wake's back..

I'm concerned about Wakefield. But you're right if we have those 3 pitching in the playoffs the Sox will be tough to beat, especially with the way Papelbon, Timlin, Delcarmen and Hansen have been throwing in the pen lately.

I've been saying this forever but don't count out Edgar Martinez, the Sox top relief prospect who made the Future's team, to possibly come up in August/September to help with the pen. He could be a possible huge wild card (i.e. Paps last year) in the strench run and playoffs. But that's still a long way away and I'm not sure if the Sox will even call him up this year.

Until Beckett develops some consistency with his breaking pitches and embraces the art of pitching (NOT the art of throwing), he's going to be ineffective against good hitting clubs that are guarenteed to be lurking in the playoffs.

Hopefully he pitches through his problems now and is ready to be the dominant pitcher everyone knows he can be in September and October when we're really gonna need him.

Beckett's problem is simply. He just throws, he doesn't pitch. He's got to change speeds, hit corners etc. When he finally learns how to pitch he's going to be that much better.

Does putting Wake in the pen for long relief make any sense?

No because you can't bring him in with runners on because they'll run on him and V-tek has some trouble catching him so it would put extra pressure on both him and Wakefield.

nice job by Lester tonight, and of course my favorite Sox got the game winning hit.

/me patienty waits for Pedroia to get that call

If Loretta continues to slump, you might get that wish.

Reports are that the Rockies are talking to the Red Sox about a dealing Ray King (lefty reliever) for Taveras or Seanez. The Sox should jump at that deal, especially for Seanez.

hell, Colorado can have both Saenz and Taveras.

this is great.

Now show me the pics from the 2004 ALCS, when the Yankees suffered the biggest choke job in sports history at the hands of the Red Sox. I'll help you out...

Sox can't hit anything, thank god we are playing the Royals.. Beckett looks like a stud just chucking it at these hitters..

edit: Paps saves another good start from RedSox pitching.. Now if the bats would just come back Braves style..
