DAMNIT....Iguchi grounds into a double play and the SOX lose.:fire:

I new Thome being out would hurt us. We needed to trade for another bat.
The pitching didn't help at all tonight, Contreras, Jenks, and Thornton gave up clutch runs.:shakeno:

Contreras was bad i'm not blaming the bullpen. The team doesn't need a bat they score runs they just have a bad pitching staff. A must win tonight for Buehrle.

Buehrle pitched like he did in the 1st half of the season. Huge victory today.

I really feel we needed another bat,Brady Clark could have caome in here and provided that bat. Cintron and Mackowiak are ok, but we need more consistant power. Those 2 guys leave to many runners on base.

Our pitching staff will not dominate the playoffs, if we can even make the playoffs now.

Another bat? The team needs consistent pitching. If the idea was to beat teams 10-9 everynight maybe. The Yankees have had a crazy lineup and still haven't been able to win it because pitching wins. Brian Anderson is a better player than Scott Podsednik. I'm sorry he's awful the team is better with Ozuna in right than Podsednik. Cintron is the utility infielder and Mackowiak has been hitting around .300. Brady Clark is hitting .273 with 3 homeruns and 27 rbi's. Is that the extra bat the team needed? I don't know how good he is defensively but to quote members of the White Sox "Brian Anderson has been better in CF than Aaron Rowand was last year." That's pretty high praise considering Ozzie wanted Rowand to win a GG last year. The team can score runs now they can't really pitch but hopefully somebody steps up aside from Garland. One thing to look for in tomorrows game is Garcia's velocity it was up to what he was throwing last year not the usual 88 he's thrown this season.

Freddy Garcia, who has a 6-2 career record against Tampa Bay, will take the mound when the White Sox open a series with the Devil Rays at U.S. Cellular Field tonight at 7:05 CT.

Let's hope Freddy can pitch like we know he can.

Also, let's see if our BATS can come alive. We need to score runs to give the pitchers some breathing room.

Chicago's offense was relentless on Tuesday as the South Siders took the opener from the Devil Rays. Jermaine Dye kicked off the scoring with a three-run home run in the first inning, while Freddy Garcia got the win.

The White Sox took back first place in the American League Wild Card race as Minnesota lost to Kansas City, 2-0. They now lead the Twins by a half-game and trail Detroit, which had its game against the Yankees postponed by rain, by five games in the AL Central.

Garcia (13-8, 5.05 ERA) gave up five runs in seven innings. He allowed seven hits and two walks but struck out a season-high-tying six.

Crede's four hits matched his career high, now done for the fifth time, the last being Aug. 1 against Kansas City.

It appears that Ortiz maybe out for awhile and Dye has been on a tear. Jeter/Dye/Morneau are probably the top 3 right now if Ortiz is out for an extended period. Jeter will continue to put up numbers but if Morneau or Dye go on a tear it'll be hard to overlook what they've done the last part of the season. I posted it in a different thread and as great as Dye has been this year Joe Crede has been better. Dye has better offensive numbers but Crede is playing a GG third base and still putting up numbers. Still if the pitching doesn't improve this team won't be playing in the postseason. It'll be interesting what they do if they do make the postseason. Garland is in and Buehrle also because he's a lefty but Contreras/Vazquez/Garcia just have not been even mediocre of late. Also look for Haeger to be called up who made a start earlier this year when the rosters expand 40 and get some innings.

4 1/2 back of the Tigers I hate the Yankees but a Yankees win tonight along with a Chi Sox win has me thinking that the Tigers maybe the odd man out.

For my 13,000 post.:woot: And hopefully a win tonight:

The White Sox have their savior of the moment on the hill on Wednesday, Jon Garland. The back-of-the-rotation ace is going for his 16th win in 27 starts, which would tie him for the American League lead.

Jermaine Dye continued his MVP-caliber season with a three-run homer to in the first inning on Tuesday. He might not be counting, but it was home run No. 39, giving him the best season power-wise by a White Sox right fielder, with a month to spare.

CWS: RHP Jon Garland (15-4, 4.47 ERA)
Garland is 11-1 over his last 13 starts, all but earning him sainthood in Guillen's mind. He beat the Rays earlier this year and is 3-1 with a 3.57 ERA lifetime against them.

Can't say enough good things about Dye. He has this team on his back. Garland pitched so-so but a comeback victory nonetheless. Even better with a Twins lose. If Proctor would've held onto the lead for the Tigers things would be looking very interesting.

Tadahito Iguchi hit a game-tying two-run homer in the eighth inning before Jim Thome drove in the winning run with a single in Chicago's 5-4 win over Tampa Bay on Wednesday. Jon Garland overcame a shaky first inning to pick up his 16th win of the season.

With a strained left hamstring keeping him out of the last five games, Thome returned to the White Sox lineup on Wednesday and came up with the game-winning single in the eighth inning of Chicago's 5-4 victory over the Devil Rays.

Jon Garland (16-4) pitched eight innings to tie Toronto's Roy Halladay for the Major League lead in victories. He put the Sox in a 3-0 hole in the first, giving up a leadoff homer to Baldelli along with three more hits and a hit batsman. The D-Rays led, 4-0, after Cantu tripled and scored from third on Delmon Young's sac fly in the fourth.

A.J. Pierzynski drilled a two-run home run in the sixth, but the White Sox fell to the Devil Rays in 10 innings.

Can't finish out a game we lose, our pitching has been so erractic this season, it's ridiculous. It has been so sparatic over the year. We handed them the game today in the 10th.

Unbelievable:shakeno:

Not too mention the Twins and Tigers won.

Tough loss tonight had bases loaded in 8th and 9th but couldn't complete the comeback. Had an opportunity to gain on the Twins. The Wildcard is there for the taking especially with Radke expexted to miss two weeks. 4 Unearned runs was the downfall.
