The Culprit here in our coaching search woes thus far...

i disagree, numerous sources have said the reason fisher doesnt wanna sign with miami is because of miamis front office structure. In other words, jeff ireland the big problem in the miami front office. Fisher wants his gm just like any other coach does, ireland is the problem as much as ppl wanna deny it.

if it means keeping jeff fisher out of control, then i consider it a solution not a problem. i am tired of HC's trying to mold teams - it NEVER works.

Not with the way you guys try to twist it. Joe Bob could be GM if that's the case and Fisher would not come here because he wants to pick his own GM but you guys continue to beat the no coach wants to work with Ireland because you personally don't like him.

so? after the 2 day interview, they are still trying to throw the bank at fisher, and want to negotiate with him DESPITE the fact that philbin had probably a productive 2 day interview and fisher was here for 2-3 hours.

actions speak louder than words. where is the consideration for philbin? it has been fisher all along - everyone else was going through the motions, which is extremely unfortunate for this franchise.
How do you know that?? Who told you Philbin had a productive interview?

DUDE... once again.. you're taking reports as facts. We have NOT made an offer. Nowhere has it been said by Ross, other than stating he won't be outbid, that he would OVERPAY. Fisher spent the same amout of time with the Rams as he did with us. You seriously need to follow Mike Silver and stop believing all the BS being reported from other sources. They have ALL flip flopped on their position and have come full circle to Silvers. Facts..without speculation.

Action speak louder than words? Well the action tells you this.. we had our interview.. it went well. Fisher was ALWAYS going to entertain offers. It's his prerogative.

In the meant time, we have been interviewing other coaches and have other interviews lined up.

Everything else you have heard has been made up speculation, trying to "guess" what's going to happen.

Miami was ALWAYS the dark horse in the Fisher sweepstakes.

Just let things play our before you freak out.

Yeah. The want to use Ireland as a reason for Fisher not taking the job, yet at the same time, they don't want a coach to have final say on all personnel decisions. Basically, they would criticize Miami for not getting Fisher because they will not give him control, but they will criticize Miami for giving a head coach that kind of control.

It's amazing how Miami is finally doing what many fans have wanted them to do for a while now, which is have a GM in place and have him bring in the head coach. They are doing that, but it still isn't good enough. The knee jerk reaction of fans says that all heads must roll, even though Jeff Ireland has done a very good job in his current role.

The Dolphins can't offer Philbin the job, nor can he accept it until after the Packers season ends. The two day interview is all the Dolphins can do at this point. Yes, Fisher is the main target, but it doesn't mean they are not taking their backup candidates seriously.

i dont beleive thats true. i think they can and he can accept but cant actually draw up a contract. i could be wrong. either way i think your buying alot of the b.s. the phins are shovelin. they have been only interested in fisher from day one.

it is IMPOSSIBLE to take any other candidate seriously if you are pre-occupied waiting for fisher to "please o please let us overpay u" its human nature. since they have been head over heals for fisher no one else has gotten a serious look, and they wont until this circus is over.

We can't officially show "interest in Philbin until the Packers are out of the playoffs. The fact he stayed here two days says a lot. It's no secret that Ross wants Fisher but I applaud him for keeping the search going. If anything the Rams are the ones that are pining. They've had what two other interviews and one was a Rooney rule guy. They are back to square one if Fisher tells them no. I just think we need to show some patience. I for one am happy we are interviewing so many candidates. I may not like all the choices but it increases our odds of finding the right guy.

Not a single fact in that post, just your opinion...

Very well put.

WAAaaaay too much hidden agenda in all of this.

For the record, Ireland has done a pretty damn good job personnel wise, and guess what, that, before ANYTHING else is HIS job. He has done his job, you people really need to get off HIS a$$.

As for Dez Bryant. Guess what. That kid has, in only his second year here in Dallas, regressed to a ridiculous level. They had a scrub in Laurent Robinson, come in off his damn couch (Cause nobody wanted him, including the Cowboys who actually cut him in preseason) and took over receiving duties when Miles Austin went down. In fact, a HUGE part of the Cowboys demise this year can be directly attributed to Dez. While Romo was breaking records set by Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman, Dez was constantly a no-show.
At the time, I felt we blew that pick, but in fact, it is looking more and more like Jerra Jones is the one who really blew that pick. Also, keep an eye on www.dallasnews.com for all things Dez this off-season. Many of the media here are taking open bets on how long and how serious he gets in trouble this offseason.

IF we don't land Fisher, and it is directly due to the fact "He doesn't want to work with Ireland", bully for us. We end up the winner in that sweepstakes.

Truth is, I doubt it has even 1 iota to do with the fact Ireland is in Miami, and until I hear something substantial to that affect (Sorry, some rookie posting a hate diatribe in here is NOT bona-fide)I don't buy into it. If anything, that would and could make the next head coach's job much easier.

I don't think a member of a superbowl favorite team is going to say he's committed to another team next season. why add a distraction?

What woes in the coaching search? They are interviewing everybody. Nobody is refusing to play for the Dolphins because Ireland is here. It's all speculation at this point. This wasn't going to be a one day process.

ok so philbin "couldn't" say hes commited. maybe.

it is still just as much an OPINION that the fins have actually given these ppl a serious look.

but if they had done it, WHY have they for the past couple weeks been concentrating on paying fisher as much money as they possibly can to get him here?

fisher has been number 1, and until its over other candidates are not getting a realistic look b/c our prime target is fisher. and i personally think that that will hurt the franchise, b/c we slept on possible better fits b/c fisher had a name - but IMO fisher is nto a fit for this team.

say what you will, but if fisher comes here we will see what happens.

Exactly... and I don't believe members of playoff teams can interview until their team is eliminated, or until the dead week just before the Superbowl.

Actually, he is contractually obligated to Green Bay until they are out. He, as well as "said team" could face Rog Goodies wrath if they do cross that line.

There's a legal phrase! Whats the word? Where's the lawyers when you actually need them?
