Chicago is one of those teams who always stick around, but don't forget the fact that this is a team missing 2 of their bigs. Haslem is the hustling type who probably would've came up with a lot of those offensive rebounds that created second chance points for Chicago (note: many which led to 3-pointers). Zo makes a huge difference as it is, and the same goes for Haslem. I am not making excuses, because there is no need to. We beat a team who sticks around with EVERYBODY (I love that Bulls team). They'd stick around with Detroit, too...believe me. "Only" beating the Baby Bulls by 5 at home in the playoffs isn't exactly something to be ashamed of.

And Wade will probably continue to struggle in this series. Like I said:

This is Dwyane Wade's team. This is Shaquille O'Neal's series. Keep feeding Shaq, stay healthy, and we're onto round 2 in 4 or 5 games.......

Shaq dominated. Wade needs to step it up. If Chicago can keep him like this throughout the series, other teams will know how to shut him down....
 
Good game bad outcome for me. I still cant explain why nocioni took that shot with 1 second in the shot clock instead of giving it to gordon to tie it up. Well see you in game 2. BTW haslem is an idiot, he should of known he was going to get ejected for that move. Now if only shaq didnt shoot 80% bulls may have won.

He stepped up at crunch time thats all that matters, not to mention he was Burning the chicago defense with 8 assists at halftime, and could have had more if we hit the shots

Its easy to forget he still ended with 30 points

If only the Bulls missed a few 3's the game would have been an absolute blowout

Dont get me wrong you played a heck of a game, but can you keep that shooting THAT well from the 3 point line? If you do it will be a great series, but I dont know if any team can shoot that well through a series

yeah gordon heinrich noicioni and duhon are all very good 3 point shooters

Exactly. Chicago has given the league the blueprint on how to defend Wade. Wade needs to make perimeter shooting his priority for improvement once again this offseason (along with improving defensively). When great defensive teams take away his ability to get within 15 feet from the basket, his offensive game largely dries up. If he becomes able to consistently hit 20+ foot shots, he'll be nearly impossible to defend. Just like when Jordan came back with that fadeaway jumper. It just wasn't fair. :lol:

Anyway, he wasn't having a great night. And they were suffocating him. But Wade still finds ways to contribute. 8 assists at the break. And he found ways to get to the FT line. Then in the 4th he found himself.

But the great thing is, everybody else stepped up. And that's what has to happen. When you're superstar isn't having his best night, someone else has to put some burden on their shoulders.
 
Haslem on the incident:
"I got a little frustrated and threw my mouthpiece at the ground," Haslem said. "Looking at it on TV, I can see how Joey would think I was throwing it at him, but I have a tremendous amount of respect for the officials. We do not always agree, but I would never physically approach an official or throw something at an official. ... My intentions were not for the mouthpiece to bounce in Joey's direction."

"I know U.D. and he doesn't do things like that on purpose," O'Neal said. "He's a class guy and everybody in this locker room knows that. He acted on impulse and that's the end of it."

That's what happens when you have an inexpierenced team. The defender was all over Nocioni and he didn't even set his feet. He had one way in front of the other. Even if he does hit it, the heat get the ball with 14 second on the clock to try to hit the game winner. What they should of done was calm done give it to Gordon or swing it around the 3 point line and take the shot with about seconds giving them a do or die situation.

That was a poor choice of shot. I was (pleasantly) suprised. Nocioni played a great game otherwise. I'd love to have that guy on my team, along with Ben Gordon. IMO he'll play a long time in this league because he can stroke it from behind the arc. And there's always a place for those kind of guys once their prime has passed them by.

Anyway, you could note unusually high stats for both teams. Shaq shot 80%. But Chicago made 13 threes. Miami made 32-39 FTs, but turned it over 17 times. Chicago got nothing from Luol Deng. But Miami played without Mourning and mostly without Haslem.

IMO it came down to Shaq and role players stepping up, Miami playing pretty better team defense (than they have lately), and home court.

The Bulls remind me a lot of the Heat of two years ago (before Shaq). A younger, up-tempo team that fought, hung around and gave everybody trouble. of course there are some other similarities and differences. But that innate ability to remain undaunted and keep playing hard is there.

The Bulls are going to be veryyyy good in a couple of years. Gordon,Deng,Duhon,Heinrich were all great college players and i'd expect them to be that in the nba in a couple of year. The you add that with Nocioni and chandler who are both pretty young and you have a really good team. Now if they can get another post player like the heat did with shaq then they'll be all set. Kevin Garnett maybe?
