The Official 2006 New York Mets Thread

Sure a natural regression was expected of nady after such a blazing start but with a contact hitter you possibly would still get the rbi. What i am saying is that if we can find a better contact hitter in the 8 spot and make nady/floyd that much more dangerous. part of the problem is that nady just doesnt scare anyone yet so floyd isnt getting pitches to drive like he was last year.

Im starting to believe that maybe willie wasnt so dumb putting wright behind floyd last year. david will hit anywhere in the lineup.

Well, I'm not going to disagree with the desire for a better contact hitter in the 8 hole. I'd take ANY competent hitter in the #8 hole, actually.

I do think that hitting Wright behind Floyd is a terrible idea, though. If you move Floyd to the 5 hole, opposing teams can bring in a lefty specialist to get Delgado AND Floyd. If they try to break that up by moving Beltran to 4th, for example, they take Delgado out of his favorite spot, take the super-sensitive Beltran out of his comfort zone, and get no real advantage, since Beltran hits righties and lefties about equally well. Moreover, Wright's a better hitter than Floyd, and now you're giving him less at bats. Not by much, I grant, but the principle remains.

Ohhh quit your crying :D ....you are still up two games over my Phils who lost another one run game to the Milwaukee Brautwursts. :tantrum: Now the Braves are getting back into it too. :(

The Braves have moved almost 5 games closer in only 11 days. Look out

A minor loss considering what they've dealt with the past few seasons. They're doing pretty good for themselves, 8-2 for their last 10. Weak competition but they still covered a lot of ground in the East in a short time.

what happened to Davies??

one of my fav. pitchers
May 17 Updating previous reports, Atlanta Braves SP Kyle Davies (groin) has learned he will need surgery for a torn groin muscle, after having been examined by a specialist. He underwent an MRI in Atlanta, before being sent to Dr. Bill Meyers in Philadelphia, who specializes in groin injuries, according to the Associated Press. It is not yet known when the surgery will take place, or how long Davies will be out. However, general manager John Schuerholz does not expect the surgery to be season-ending.

May 17 Davies had an MRI exam Tuesday on the right groin muscle he injured in his Monday start against the Florida Marlins. The diagnosis is a strained groin, but the Atlanta right-hander was scheduled to visit a specialist Wednesday to determine the severity of the injury. There is concern he could miss a month or more.

Michael Kay: Even Joe Torre liked that one!

yep... the Braves are only 3.5 back. hhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
be afraid, be very afraid.

I guess I missed a great game. For some reason the Extra innings package didn't deem the Mets/Yankees worth putting on their lineup.

No kidding. Let's see, I have both SNY and YES...you'd think ONE of them would cover the game. I ended up watching the replay on YES this morning. I think it has something to do with the local networks, WOR and PIX (or whoever) having rights to the game, so SNY and YES don't have it.
