What i am saying is that if we can find a better contact hitter in the 8 spot and make nady/floyd that much more dangerous. part of the problem is that nady just doesnt scare anyone yet so floyd isnt getting pitches to drive like he was last year.
Im starting to believe that maybe willie wasnt so dumb putting wright behind floyd last year. david will hit anywhere in the lineup.
Well, I'm not going to disagree with the desire for a better contact hitter in the 8 hole. I'd take ANY competent hitter in the #8 hole, actually.
I do think that hitting Wright behind Floyd is a terrible idea, though. If you move Floyd to the 5 hole, opposing teams can bring in a lefty specialist to get Delgado AND Floyd. If they try to break that up by moving Beltran to 4th, for example, they take Delgado out of his favorite spot, take the super-sensitive Beltran out of his comfort zone, and get no real advantage, since Beltran hits righties and lefties about equally well. Moreover, Wright's a better hitter than Floyd, and now you're giving him less at bats. Not by much, I grant, but the principle remains.
